Abstract

In an embodiment, a method is provided. The method includes receiving source data (e.g. video or image data). The method further includes transforming pixels of the source data into a frequency domain representation of the pixels using a reversible lossless integer transformation. The method also includes run-length-encoding the frequency domain representation of the pixels to produce an encoded representation of the pixels. The method further includes storing the encoded representation of the pixels as an encoded file (such as an image or video file, for example). In another embodiment, a method is provided. The method includes receiving source data (e.g. video or image data). The method further includes transforming pixels of the source data into a frequency domain representation of the pixels using a reversible lossless integer transformation. The method also includes run-length-encoding the frequency domain representation of the pixels to produce an encoded representation of the pixels. The method further includes storing the encoded representation of the pixels as an encoded file (such as an image or video file, for example).
