Description

BANDA DE SUJECIÓ PARA CATÉTERES  HOLDING BAND FOR CATHETERS

CAMPO TÉCNICO DE LA INVENCIÓN TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The scope or technological field where the present invention is applied for practical use is catheters for medical and health purposes.

ANTECEDENTES DE LA INVENCIÓN BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Catheters are medical devices in the form of plastic or rubber tubes, sometimes coated, that are inserted into the channels, vessels, pathways or cavities in the body to facilitate a variety of functions, such as injection or fluid extraction , the maintenance of open ducts, the use of an incision device or the delivery of an electric charge. Catheters make it possible to drain or inject fluids or to access areas of the body with surgical instruments. Most catheters are used for cardiovascular, renal, hemodynamic infusion or neurological applications.

In order for the needle to penetrate the skin, it is necessary that it be provided with a sharp point extending beyond the distal tip of the catheter tube. Sometimes, when the needle is inserted into the patient's blood vessel, the blood flows due to the high pressures with which the blood is expelled, which causes unwanted leaks or a backflow of vascular blood. On other occasions, involuntary or accidental movements of the catheter cause the catheter to leave its position generating needle punctures or that it is necessary to repeat the catheterization process, both incidents can have fatal consequences for the patient or the medical staff.

The concern about punctures is not only focused on hygiene topics because the spillage of infectious biological waste such as human blood is an alarming factor of safety and prevention of infectious diseases such as HIV and hepatitis.

For the prevention of such problems there are few alternatives, one of them is the typical adhesive tape that seeks to attach the catheter to the patient's body, said tape however has not been designed to provide the required security. In this way, technologies such as US 5,497,768 have been developed where a breathing catheter with sealing clamp surrounding the catheter tube is described and can be connected through a separate tube with a source of compressed air with a substantially constant pressure. This tube adapts to a shut-off valve that is controlled by the pressure of the breathing air and adapted to prevent the air in the clamp from allowing a tight seal to escape when this pressure exceeds the pressure at the source of compressed air. The position of this valve avoids the disadvantageous effects of pressure drops in the catheter tube, which can occur when the valve is placed at the injection end of the catheter tube, such as in the case of a known breathing catheter. .

Likewise, in US Patent 20120245,528 a tunneled catheter is referred to which makes use of one or more porous sleeves to anchor the catheter in the skin of a patient, and / or to minimize the risk of infection. A catheter, comprising: an axis constructed of a polymeric material that is located near a first opening at said proximal end and a second opening at said distal end; a lumen extending between said first and second aperture; a porous element disposed around a part of said axis, wherein said porous element comprises the first polymeric material and is positioned closer to the proximal end of the axis than the distal end of the axis. In the same literature, a clamp for coupling a complementary catheter is also described in EP1603626 A1, allowing the secure placement of the clamp in different places in the catheter. In an exemplary embodiment, the clamp comprises an internal receiving location to receive and fit over the complementary catheter projection. The doctor can select the preferred location in a cuff catheter, either before or during surgery. The different devices described above address particular problems of the different catheters according to the application being sought. The new device described in the present invention can operate with all types of catheters but is particularly useful in intravenous applications. The invention described herein simultaneously solves the problem of accidental needle sticks and the unwanted retro flow of fluids.
