Definitions
- the invention relates to a multiphase pump for pumping a hydrocarbon-containing multiphase mixture.
- Fossil fuels are not in pure form in oil or gas fields, but as a multi-phase mixture containing liquid, gas and possibly also solid components.
- This multiphase mixture of crude oil, natural gas and chemicals, where appropriate also includes seawater and a not inconsiderable proportion of sand, is pumped with pumps from the oil or gas field and transported further.
- Such fossil fuel delivery utilizes multiphase pumps that are capable of pumping a liquid-gas mixture that may also contain solid components, such as sand.
- Such multiphase pumps are designed as high-pressure pumps in order to be able to convey the conveyed product over a long distance, even vertically. This applies in particular to underwater pumps for conveying raw materials from underwater fields.
- cooling and lubrication can be done with little maintenance and with little external circuits, for example, for lubricants.
- phase-enriched component in particular a liquid-enriched liquid component and / or a gas-enriched gas component, can be used for special operating tasks in the multiphase pump, for example lubricating and / or cooling a pump unit and / or a motor unit.
- the multiphase pump comprises a feed system for supplying a liquid-enriched liquid component as a lubricant to a pump unit to be lubricated.
- a feed system for supplying a liquid-enriched liquid component as a lubricant to a pump unit to be lubricated.
- the pump element to be lubricated may be a bearing of a motor unit and / or a pump unit of the multiphase pump.
- the pump element is lubricated exclusively with the liquid-enriched liquid component.
- the liquid-enriched liquid component is a hydrocarbon-containing liquid component whose liquid fraction is higher than that of the multiphase mixture.
- the liquid content is over 98 percent by weight, with a volume fraction of the liquid of over 70% is advantageous.
- the separation system is used for separating a liquid-enriched liquid component from the multiphase mixture, in particular also for separating a gas-enriched gas component from the multiphase mixture, and further in particular for separating a solid component, such as sand, from the multiphase mixture, so that the liquid-enriched liquid component at least substantially solid is free.
- a solid content of up to 1 weight percent, in particular up to 0.2 weight percent, with a grain size greater than 100 ⁇ is still compatible and may fall under the name substantially solids-free.
- the multiphase pump is expediently a high-pressure pump for pumping the multiphase mixture with a differential pressure of at least 10 bar.
- the multiphase pump is an underwater pump, a top-side pump or other pump, especially for use below the water surface provided, in particular to a depth of 100 m, to 500 m or even to more than 1, 000 m below the water surface.
- the pump can be a petroleum pump prepared for pumping crude oil.
- the multiphase mixture advantageously contains crude oil or crude oil as the hydrocarbon-containing fraction.
- the multiphase mixture may contain methane, natural gas or other gaseous fuel.
- the separation system includes a branch between a product inlet and a product outlet of the multiphase pump.
- the branch may be before or after a pumping section, that is to say connected to a high-pressure region or a low-pressure region of the pump.
- the branch may be a partially permeable seal through which a portion of the pumped product, ie the multiphase mixture, pushes.
- the separation system has a second separation stage, which is present in addition to the first separation stage, for separating the liquid-enriched liquid component into a higher-enriched liquid component and a gas-enriched gas component.
- Another function of the separation stage is to prevent or at least suppress mixing of the liquid component and the gas component.
- a liquid-cleaner liquid component for a more effective lubrication process can be generated.
- the first separation stage is provided to at least substantially completely separate the solids fraction from the liquid-enriched liquid component. The gas content does not have to be intensively absorbed by the liquid-enriched th liquid component are separated.
- the liquid-enriched liquid component may be separated into a higher-enriched liquid component and a gas-enriched gas component in the second separation stage, and one or both components may be used individually.
- the liquid-enriched liquid component may be used for lubricating and / or cooling a pump element, for example one or more bearings of the pump unit or motor unit.
- the gas-enriched gas component is also used, for example for cooling an element of the pump unit or motor unit.
- both liquid component and gas component can be used operationally beneficial in the multi-phase pump, so that an expense for lubricating and / or cooling of elements of the multiphase pump can be reduced.
- the second separation stage of the separation system is advantageously arranged in the feed system in front of the pump element.
- the liquid component is thus guided from the first separation stage via the second separation stage to the pump element.
- a separated in the first separation stage gas component and / or solid component reaches the second separation stage expediently not, so that there a higher-enriched liquid component can be generated.
- the second separation stage is arranged directly on the pump element to be lubricated, for example, a bearing to be lubricated the pump unit or the motor unit of the multi-phase pump.
- a reliable separation within the second separation stage can be achieved if it has a centrifuge with a rotating centrifugal element with an internal gas channel and an external liquid channel. Due to the greater inertia, the liquid is centrifugally pushed out more than the gas, so that separate gas and liquid content.
- the liquid channel of the centrifuge passes through a bearing for supporting the centrifugal element.
- This may cause the cooling and / or lubricating of the gers are connected in a very compact manner with the separation in the second separation stage, so that a compact, simple and reliable lubrication and / or cooling and separation can be achieved.
- a central shaft of the multiphase pump is supported by the centrifugal element.
- the centrifugal element is co-rotated by the pump shaft, whereby the centrifuge drive is particularly easy to reach.
- a centrifugal separation can be connected in a simple and compact way with a shaft bearing.
- a further advantageous embodiment of the invention proposes that the feed system has a cooling unit, in particular in a circuit of a liquid-enriched liquid component.
- the liquid component may be cooled and used to cool a pump element.
- the cooling unit is arranged between the first and the second separation stage.
- the liquid-rich liquid component obtained in the first separation stage can be cooled and fed in cooled form to the pump element to be lubricated and / or cooled.
- This has the advantage that not only the liquid in the liquid-enriched liquid component but also the gas fraction remaining in the liquid component is cooled and thus can be used for cooling purposes. If the gas component and the liquid component are separated in the second separation stage, both components can be used accordingly in places where they are particularly advantageous.
- gas flow through the entire pump housing, starting from the first separation stage takes place as a result of the rising gas, so that gas is also available as such.
- Pump elements may be cooled by a liquid component or a gas component. While the liquid component has the advantage of higher cooling capacity, the gas component is said to have lower friction associated with cooling. So it is advantageous to use the gas component there for cooling, where a liquid cooling would produce an undesirable friction and would therefore be detrimental.
- the multiphase pump a Has gas supply from a gas outlet of the separation system to a heat generating pumping element.
- the gas outlet is a part of the second separation stage of the separation system, which has the advantage that the separated in the first separation stage gas component can be used for transporting a solid content.
- the gas outlet is an outlet of a second separation stage for separating the liquid-enriched liquid component into a higher-enriched liquid component and a gas-enriched gas component.
- the gas component which emerges in particular from the second separation stage, is used for cooling a pumping element.
- the gas component has expediently previously flowed through a cooling unit, for example together with a liquid portion of the liquid component.
- the multiphase pump has a pump motor in a motor unit.
- the motor unit expediently comprises an outer stator and an inner rotor, wherein the outer stator can be cooled by a coolant, for example by a dielectric fluid, so that a separate cooling circuit can be present.
- the cooling of the rotor is difficult, however, because a fluid connection to the rotor is very expensive. This offers a gas cooling.
- Such gas cooling can be achieved when the multiphase pump has a cooling gas path from a gas outlet of the separation system, which passes a gas-enriched gas component through a pump motor for cooling the pump motor.
- a gas component from the first or second separation stage can be led to the pump motor and cool it there.
- a gas fraction which has been separated off in the second separation stage and in particular has previously passed through a cooling unit is guided by the pump motor to its cooling.
- the gas-enriched gas component can be guided between the rotor and the stator of the pump motor and thus pass through a gap between rotor and stator.
- the rotor expediently has a pot which shields the outer dielectric cooling fluid from the inner rotor, So it is a so-called Canned engine, the gap between the rotor and stator can be made very narrow, so with a small volume, so that the gas along the entire rotor forcibly guided and effective cooling is possible.
- the multiphase pump has a gas circulation for a gas-enriched gas component of the separation system, which contains a cooling unit.
- the gas component may be cooled down and repeatedly passed to the pump element to be cooled, for example the rotor of the pump motor.
- the invention is also directed to methods of operating a multiphase pump which pumps a multiphase hydrocarbon-containing mixture.
- a part of the multiphase mixture is fed to a first separation stage of a separation system of the multiphase pump, the separation system separates the separated part into at least one liquid-enriched liquid component and a gas-enriched gas component.
- One or both components may be used for lubricating and / or cooling a pump element and correspondingly there may be dispensed with resource containers. If at least one pump element is lubricated or cooled with a portion of the multiphase mixture, then the multiphase pump is a product-lubricated and / or product-cooled multiphase pump.
- the liquid-enriched liquid component is used at least substantially solids-free for lubrication.
- the liquid-enriched liquid component is cooled and used both for lubricating and for cooling a pump element.
- a gas-enriched gas component is also produced, which is usually recycled to the product stream. If, on the other hand, at least part of the gas-enriched gas component is used to cool a pump element, it may be possible to dispense with other cooling mechanisms and to keep the pump simple.
- a pump and / or a motor unit of the multiphase pump is divided into at least one liquid-cooled and at least one gas-cooled region and the liquid-enriched liquid component is supplied to the liquid-cooled region and the gas-enriched gas component is supplied to the gas-cooled region.
- the liquid-cooled region is expediently an area in which a high cooling capacity is in the foreground
- the gas-cooled area is expediently an area which is cooled as smoothly as possible, for example a rotor of the pump motor or a coupling between pump unit or motor unit of the multiphase pump.
- the liquid component is separated in a second separation stage of the separation system into a higher-enriched liquid component and a gas-enriched gas component and the higher-enriched liquid component cools a pump element.
- the corresponding component should be as free of solids as possible.
- the multiphase pump has a first separation stage, in which the solids content is at least substantially completely saturated. is constantly excreted from the multiphase mixture and an additional second separation stage is present, which is supplied to at least one liquid-rich liquid component from the first separation stage. In the second separation stage, these can be separated into liquid and gas components. Both resulting in the second separation stage components can be used for lubrication or cooling without solid particles damage the pump.
- both the gas component and the liquid component When using both the gas component and the liquid component for lubrication and / or cooling, both components should be kept separate from each other in order to avoid re-mixing as much as possible.
- the liquid component and the gas component are conducted after the separation in a common space from which the liquid component down and the gas component are discharged upward.
- the different specific weights of liquid and gas components are exploited to keep the previously separated components separate even with simple guidance in a common space. The gas rises and the liquid falls down, so that the liquid can be led out of the room downwards and the gas can be led up out of the room.

- the sealing is not complete so that a small portion of the pumped multiphase mixture passes through the seal 44 and reaches the low pressure chamber 46.
- an impeller 48 is arranged, which is fixedly connected to the pump shaft 6.
- the multiphase mixture arriving in the low-pressure chamber 46 is set in rapid rotation by the rotating impeller 48.
- the multiphase mixture flows around the impeller 48 below, as indicated by the solid arrow in FIG.
- the multiphase mixture splits into a gas-enriched gas component (dotted arrow) and the remainder of the multiphase mixture (solid arrow). Due to the inertia, it is the solids content and the liquid content hardly possible to rise radially inwardly via a gas passage 54 back into the low pressure chamber 46, as indicated by the dotted arrow in FIG. Liquid and solid are instead driven radially outwards and thus reaches a collecting chamber 56 in which, in particular, the solids content of the multiphase mixture collects.
- the discharge channel 50 which serves for example to relieve the charge, is connected via a connecting line 52 (FIG. 1) to the low-pressure side 20 of the pump unit 10, so that the discharged multiphase mixture is introduced again into the product flow to be pumped.
- liquid channel 60 passes from the collection chamber 56 down into a liquid channel 60 and is supplied via a cooler 62 to be lubricated and cooled elements of the multi-phase pump 2.
- Liquid channel 60, cooler 62 and feed space 64 are part of a feed system 66 for supplying a liquid-enriched liquid component as lubricant and coolant to a plurality of pump elements.
- the cooler 62 is connected, for example, to surrounding seawater, so that the heat is released from the cooler 62 into the surrounding seawater and the liquid component flowing through the cooler 62 is correspondingly cooled.
- the liquid component cooled in the cooler 62 is pressed into the feed space 64.
- the pressure force is created by the impeller 48, which pushes the liquid component through the delivery system 66.
- the liquid component reaches one of the pump elements to be cooled and lubricated, namely the radial bearing 36, in which the pump shaft 6 is mounted.
- the fluid component pushes through a radial gap between radial bearing 36 and pump shaft 6 and lubricates the bearing 36 and cools it at the same time.
- a collecting space 70 FIG.
- FIG. 1 shows beyond the example shown in FIG. 2 that the liquid components enriched in liquid in the first separation stage are supplied not only to the lower bearing 36 but also to the two motor bearings 30, 32 and the upper pump bearing 34.
- the supply to the upper pump bearing 34 is shown in FIG.
- FIG. 3 shows the bearing 34 at the upper end of the pump shaft 6, to which the liquid component is guided by the feed system 66.
- the bearing 34 comprises an impeller 76, which rotates with the pump shaft 6 and centrifuges the liquid component in the feed space 74.
- gas (dotted line) and higher-enriched liquid (dashed line) separate, thereby forming a second separation stage 78.
- a gas-enriched gas component flows through the gas channel 80, which is located radially inside the impeller 76, where it is guided through a labyrinth ring 82 into a space 84, the labyrinth ring 82 acting as a pump and pushing the gas component up into the space 84.
- the outwardly thrown liquid component is pushed and lubricates through a gap between a bearing member 68 and the impeller 76 and also cools it because the temperature of the liquid component in the cooler 62 has been significantly reduced.
- Another function of the separation stage is to prevent or at least suppress mixing of the liquid component and the gas component.
- the centrifugal member 76 supports the shaft 6 in the bearing 34, so that it fulfills both the centrifugal function of the second separation stage 78 and a bearing function for the pump shaft 6. Accordingly, the liquid component is separated from the gas-enriched gas component by the centrifugal element 76 and, as it flows through the bearing gap of the bearing 34, precisely cools that element which causes the separation.
- the cooling liquid component also reaches the space 84, in which, as shown in FIG. 1, the coupling 38 is arranged between the motor shaft 4 and the pump shaft 6. While the liquid component, the clutch 38 is not substantially reached, but discharged through a discharge channel 86 down is, the gas-enriched gas component rises in the space 84 upwards and flows around the clutch 38. As a result, the clutch 38 is cooled, without their friction is significantly increased.
- the pump 2 makes use here of the gravitational effect that the gas rises and the liquid component flows down. A strictly separate gas and liquid management is not necessary and the two components can be supplied together to the space 84 and still remain separated.
- the liquid component flows through the outlet 86 down into the low-pressure side 20 and thus back into the product inlet 12 and is thus combined with the product stream to be pumped.
- the ascending gas component rises through design-related recesses in the multiphase pump 2 upwards and collects in an upper plenum 88 below the upper end of the motor housing 90th
- the liquid component which reaches the upper bearing 30 in the feed system 66 which is shown in greater detail in FIG. 4, is moved.
- a second separation stage 78 with a centrifugal element 92, a gas channel 94 and a labyrinth ring 96 for pumping the gas-enriched gas component upwards is present, in this case into the collecting space 88.
- the liquid component separated radially outward by the rotation of the centrifugal element 92 is again passed through a bearing gap between the centrifugal element 92 and a bearing element 98 and thus cools the bearing 30 and lubricates it in addition.
- the shaft 6 is supported by the centrifugal member 92.
- the bearing 32 also has a centrifugal element 92 and thus a second separation stage 78, in which-as well as in the bearing 30 and in the bearing 34-the liquid-enriched liquid component brought in by the feed system 66 is freed from a gas component and thus forms a higher-enriched liquid component ,
- the higher-enriched liquid component cools the centrifugal element 92 and also the entire bearing 32 and lubricates it at the same time.
- the gas-enriched gas component rises and reaches an annular gap 100 between the rotor 28 and stator 24 of the motor unit 8.
- This annular gap 100 is closed by a pot radially outward, so that the dielectric liquid that cools the stator 24 and through a cooler 102 in a cooling circuit is guided, can not get into the annular gap 100 and thus to the rotor 28.
- the gas component rises in the annular gap 100 upwards and flows around the entire rotor 28, on which it has a cooling effect. Due to design-related spaces also this gas component enters the upper plenum 88 and is enriched there.
- both the liquid component from the bearing 30 and the gas component from the upper collecting chamber 88 are recirculated to the low-pressure chamber 46 in an evacuation 104.
- the gas cooler may be, for example, seawater-soaked, so that cooling is easily achieved.
- the multiphase pump 2 can be divided into gas regions 106 and liquid regions 108, which are arranged vertically stacked in the multiphase pump 2.
- the gas regions 106 are those regions to which the gas-enriched gas component is supplied, for example for cooling the clutch 38 or for cooling the rotor 28.
- the liquid regions 108 are those regions to which the liquid-enriched liquid component is supplied for cooling and lubrication, such as the upper engine mount 30, the lower motor bearing 32, the upper pump bearing 34 and the lower pump bearing 36.
- the resulting liquid component can be used in the fluid areas 108 for cooling and lubrication, wherein the stator 24 is cooled separately, for example, with a dielectric fluid.
- the gas component produced in the second separation stage can be supplied to the gas regions 106 for cooling, without the cooling being associated with a high degree of friction.
- the element in the gas region 106 is thus cooled only by the gas component and kept free of the liquid component.
- internal components of the multiphase pump 2 such as bearings 30, 32, 34, coupling 38, are cooled and lubricated by components of the pumped multiphase mixture.
- the multiphase mixture is at least largely freed of solids in a first separation stage 42 and the purified enriched liquid component used for cooling and lubrication.
- this liquid component is separated again in one or more second separation stages 78 into a higher-enriched liquid component and a gas-enriched gas component, both components being used for cooling pump elements.
- the gas component is supplied to at least one gas region in which the gas component has a cooling effect.
- the liquid component is supplied to at least one liquid region 108, which is different from the gas region 106, and in which the liquid component has a cooling and lubricating action. In this way, several components of the multiphase mixture can be used to cool elements of the multiphase pump.
- the multiphase pump 2 is divided into a plurality of layers or regions 106, 108 arranged vertically one above the other and the liquid component and gas component are supplied to the respective associated gas region 106 or liquid region 108 for cooling.
- the separation and supply can take place gravitationally driven so that the liquid from a common space 84 drops down and the gas component rises up into the gas area 106.
- FIGS. 5 to 8 show alternative variants of individual components of the multiphase pump 2. The following description is essentially limited to the differences from the exemplary embodiment in FIGS. 1 to 4 with respect to FIG of the same characteristics and functions.
- the multiphase pump 110 is essentially constructed like the multiphase pump 2 from FIG. 1, but the product inlet 12 is arranged lower than the product outlet 14. Accordingly, the part of the multiphase mixture used for cooling and lubricating the components is taken up from the high pressure side 22 of the pump unit 10 taken.
- the bearings 30, 32, 34, the coupling 38 and the rotor 28 are cooled as previously described. The cooling of the lower pump bearing 36 is described with reference to FIG.
- FIG. 6 shows the lower portion of the multi-phase pump 1 10 with the bearing 36, in which the pump shaft 6 is mounted below.
- a first separation stage 42 is formed, through which the gas-enriched gas component (dotted line) is drawn radially inward and thus separated from the liquid component, which is radially outward (dashed line) out, and is pressed by the bearing 36 and this lubricates and cools.
- the pressure conditions should be such that as far as possible Overpressure in the collection chambers 1 12, 1 14 is present, so that as possible only purified liquid component - with gas present - is present and no solid component enters the feed system 66 and the bearings 30, 32, 34, 36 damaged.
- an additional sand discharge 124 may be provided, but this is not necessary.
- the pump unit 10 is arranged at the top and the motor unit 8 at the bottom.
- the seal 44 high pressure side part of the multiphase mixture is separated and - as described in the previous embodiments - separated in a first separation stage 42, so that the bearing 36 can be lubricated and cooled.
- the liquid component is guided by gravity down into the motor unit 8 and thus reaches both the clutch 38 and the annular gap 100 between the rotor 28 and stator 24. In this way, a particularly effective cooling of the motor unit 8 can be achieved, however, connected to higher friction losses due to the significantly higher viscosity of the liquid component compared to the gas component.
- the liquid component collecting at the bottom of the multiphase pump 16 is guided upwards again by the cooler 62 and to the bearings 36, 34, 32.
- liquid component and gas component are separated and the gas component can cool the clutch 38 or is returned to the product inlet 12.
- the multiphase pump 2 is similar to that of FIG. 1. In contrast, it has a further separation unit 1 18, in which the separated gas component is fed back into the product input 12.
- the purified liquid component is guided into the low-pressure chamber 46.
- recirculated liquid component from the bearing 34 is not performed by a discharge 86 in the product input 12, but also fed via a return 120 the circuit again by being passed over the separation stage 1 18 and then into the low-pressure chamber 46.
- This allows the Available Fluid content increased and run cleaner, so that the lubrication and cooling can be performed more effectively.
- the dielectric liquid used to cool the motor unit 8 is cooled by the cooler 102 and kept in circulation.
- the radiator 102 is disposed outside the pump housing and immersed in seawater, so that discharge of the introduced heat can be effectively done.
- the pressure within the stator 24 is adjusted to the pressure outside of the stator 24.
- the stator 24 can provide cooling channels through which liquid-enriched liquid component is led out of the multiphase mixture so that the separate circuit with the dielectric fluid can be dispensed with.
- the external circuit with the cooler 102 can be dispensed with since the entire cooling passes through the cooler 62, ie both liquid component and cooling for the cooling of the stator and the cooling of the pump elements, such as the bearings 30, 32, 34, 36 is identical.
