Description
CHANGEABLE JEWELLERY
Technical field
[001] The present invention relates generally to a decorative system.
Background art
[002] DE102009001410 describes a jewelry set for children, wherein a ring comprising a recess may receive a decorative unit that is counter changeable to other decorative units in the set.
[003] EP 1839516 describes a jewelry kit with combinable parts.
[004] US 202129619 describes yet another combination system for jewelries.
[005] The "Nittel system" described in for example DE 2020080104689U1 is widely used by jewelers for fastening a necklace; wherein the fastening is built on a pin- recess engagement. However, the system is restricted to one engagement not to engage several parts to each other to build different combinations or rails.
[006] Possibilities to make personal combinations are also available on the market, however these combinations are built up by combining readymade rings, necklaces' or adding charms to a bracelet or necklace or the like. A certain form is always required and in some system there is required a special tool or a personal consultant for preparation of the jewelleries.
[007] There is a large market for building your own jewelry today, but there are no available systems comprising building units that provides endless combinations that produce unique jewelries' and joy, a concept that is missing.
Summary of invention
[008] One object of the present invention is to provide a decorative system comprising decorative and base units for building personal jewelry combinations. The sytem is built on engagement using mainly two different techniques, such as openable parts and screws. These two systems may be used alone or in combination. The decorative system is also available in different value ranges, which gives people of all social classes the possibility to use the decorative system of the present application. The units are also re-usable.
[009] The present invention also provides a decorative system that supports creativity, which in turn supports good health. Moreover, there is also an important aspect of recycling in the present invention, since the decorative units may be reused in different decorations. In addition, the fashion level will also be possible to upgrade in a cost effective way.
[0010] The present invention provides a decorative system comprising a plurality of decorative units that are combinable with at least another such unit, and/or a base jewelry that is associated with a person carrying the decorative system, wherein, the base jewelry either is assembled from a desired number of the combinable decorative units, and/or a prefabricated or commercial base jewelry adapted to be combined with at least one decorative unit. In one embodiment the decorative system also comprise a link to the person who wears it or to itself by personal findings, heritaged or self made parts.
[0011] A base jewelry of the present application means a basic unit of jewelry, for example a ring, such as the part that surrounds the finger but without decoration, for example a pearl, a stone, a diamond or the like. The base jewelry may be prefabricated to suit the engagement system of the present invention or be another commercial accessory combinable with the base jewelries and/or decorative units of the present invention.
[0012] A decorative unit means for example a pearl, stone, diamond, ring, tassel, figure, animal shape, symbol, letter, collier or any other unit added to a base jewelry to form a complete piece of jewelry.
[0013] In the present application a recess means a receiving part of an engagement system.
[0014] Some of the decorative units of the present invention are prefabricated to comprise fastening means.
[0015] In one embodiment of the decorative system of the present invention the base jewelry is either assembled from a desired number of the combinable decorative units, or prefabricated base jewelries adapted to be combined with at least one decorative unit.
[0016] In one embodiment of the present invention the decorative units and the base jewelries are provided in buildable boxes that may be assembled to each other. The assembled boxes will build a bigger box that has an arranged place for building different creative combinations of jewelries.
[0017] The decorative units of the present invention may be combined with another decorative unit and/or the base jewelry via fastening means adapted to establish a detachable engagement between said decorative units and/or said base jewelry.
[0018] In some embodiments the engagement is based on a pin to recess arrangement. A Pin means the intercalation part of an engagement system. When the fastening means is a pin, it may be a screw, a bayonet screw, and/or an openable part or the like.
[0019] In some embodiments the top of the pin is flat. The flat top is very important if the decorative unit shall be fixed. This is especially important for finger rings. On the contrary, if the pin has a round top as in some embodiments of the present invention, the mounted decorative unit is not fixed and will be to some extent movable, which is especially important for building a chain or collier. In the present application the pin may be made of any suitable material, for example gold, silver, copper, steel, rubber or any optional material.
[0020] In one embodiment the engagement of decorative units and/or base jewelries is made by using a ring shaped unit, for example a ring. The ring shaped unit may comprise a pin, a screw, or a bayonet screw for mounting a decorative unit on. The ring shaped unit may also be the base jewelry.
[0021] In yet another embodiment the engagement ring shaped unit or base jewelry is openable.
[0022] In one embodiment of the present invention the decorative unit(s) and/or base jewelries comprise fastening means. In one embodiment the fastening means is a recess, wherein in one embodiment the recess is adapted to receive a pin.
[0023] In one embodiment of the present invention comprise the decorative unit at least one recess and/or at least one pin. The decorative unit may also have at least one recess and/or at least one pin. A decorative unit does not have to comprise a pin.
[0024] In yet another embodiment of the present invention may the base jewelry be ring shaped, for example a ring. The ring shaped base jewelry can be openable or not openable depending on what it will be used for. In the following a ring shaped base jewelry may also be for example a star, heart, letter or any optional figure having the same function as a ring of the present application.
[0025] In one embodiment the base jewelry comprises at least one pin, or a plurality of pins. If there is a plurality of pins it is possible to engage several decorative units to the base jewelry.
[0026] In one embodiment of the present invention the base jewelry is a ring, the ring may comprise at least one hole. The hole is symmetrically diametrically situated on the ring for engaging another ring with fastening means. The fastening means of the present application may be any pin, a bolt hold by a screw nut, a screw or a smooth pin made of an elastic material, e.g., silicone.
[0027] In yet another embodiment the base jewelry may also be an openable ring shaped unit, for example a ring. The openable ring is preferred when a base jewelry shall
be linked to another piece of accessory, such as an openable part another openable part and/or a chain or e.g., a neclase, a belt, a bag or another piece of jewelry. The piece of jewelry may also be a commercial one, i.e., made by someone else.
[0028] In one embodiment the openable ring shaped base jewelry may also comprise a pin, which makes it possible to mount to another base jewelry comprising a recess, or a decorative unit comprising a recess.
[0029] Another object of the present invention is to provide a piece of jewelry. A piece of jewelry means in this case a complete jewelry that is ready to be carried. In one embodiment the piece of jewelry may comprise a plurality of decorative units that are engaged to each other via the system of base jewelries described above.
[0030] A piece of jewelry of the present invention may for example be a necklace, a bracelet, a ring or a readymade combination of commercial accessories and/or jewelries and parts of the present application.
[0031] Yet another object of the present invention is to provide a kit for assembling decorative systems. The kit comprise a plurality of decorative units that are combinable with at least another such unit and a base jewelry that is adapted to be combined with at least one decorative unit. The kit may comprise one or a plurality of decorative units and/or one or a plurality of base jewelries. The kit may also be of different size, i.e., comprise one base jewelry and three decorative units for building three different rings. Or, the kit may comprise three different base jewelries combinable with several decorative units. Both the base jewelries and the decorative units are also available one by one.
[0032] The present invention provides a system for building your own designed jewelry. The novelty and inventiveness lies in the design of base jewelries that may be combined with an endless amount of other units having the same fastening systems or any optional part that permits combination. The decorative units and base jewelries provided by the present invention are combinable to each other and may be of any shape, material or color. The base jewelries have a multipurpose and may be combined
with a necklace, earring, ring, bracelet, cufflink, key ring, napkin holder, baby-girls-boys toy or another decorative unit. There is no system available where all units are compatible to each other and to all base jewelleries such as ring, earring, pendants, necklace, bracelet, links, key chains or cufflinks etc. included in the concept.
[0033] One object of the present invention is also to counter change the decorative unit(s) between a finger ring to an ear ring or to a necklace, bracelets, or any other jewelry.
[0034] Another object of the present invention is to be able to add additional chains and/or rings to for example colliers or to prepare other optional combinations provided by the invention. The rings may be used as base rings, decorative units or mounting parts. The units may also be engaged by rings that are openable or not openable.
[0035] The number of combinations is endlessly as long as the decorative units' comprise the fastening system provided by the present invention.
[0036] The number of combinations may also build an endlessly long combination.
[0037] In the present application a decorative unit may be of bead shape, ring shape, heart shape, skull shape, animal shape, star shape, stone shape or any shape a decorative unit may have.
[0038] In one embodiment of the present invention the decorative unit is a mini screw ring. The mini screw rings have several purposes and may be used alone or in combination with other mini screw rings. In one embodiment is the mini screw rings used to hide a mounting part of jewelry. The mini screw rings may also - depending on the design - provide additional effects such as for example glitter, blink or tinkle. The mini screw rings may also have other shapes than ring shape, for example a letter, a star, a heart or an inscription.
[0039] In the present application the base jewelry or the decorative units may be of any material, such as silver, gold, platinum, copper, brass, stone, lava, wool, cotton, silk,
paper, metal, synthetic, plastic, resin, rubber, nut, fruit, sand, ash, styrofoam, glass, wood, or any material.

[0043] The invention is now described, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
[0044] Fig. la-d show different embodiments of ring shaped base jewelries.
[0045] Fig. 2a-d show different embodiments of ring shaped base jewelries comprising a pin and/or holes.
[0046] Fig. 3a-b show a perspective and side view of a ring comprising several rings engaged to each other. Figure 3c shows an example of a ring in combination with a decorative unit, and Figure 3d shows a ring designed with a thinner lower portion of the ring.
[0047] Before the invention is disclosed and described in detail, it is to be understood that this invention is not limited to particular materials or configurations disclosed herein as such configurations and materials may vary somewhat.
[0048] It is also to be understood that the terminology employed herein is used for the purpose of describing particular embodiments only and is not intended to be limiting since the scope of the present invention is limited only by the appended claims.
[0049] The present invention will now be described in more detail hereafter with reference to the accompanying figures, in which embodiments of the invention are shown. This invention may, however, be embodied in many different forms and should not be construed as limited to the embodiments set forth herein.
[0050] Other features and uses of the invention and their associated advantages will be evident to a person skilled in the art upon reading the description and the examples.
[0051] Figures la-b show drawings of ring shaped base units 2 according to the present invention. Fig. la shows a not openable ring 1, and Fig. 2b shows an openable ring 50 of the present invention. The rings may be used to combine decorative units and/or base units to each other. The opening and closing technique varies between the openable parts - some rings are jointed and others are not, some use push-in technique and other use push-aside techniques. Opening and closing techniques used in the present system are not limited to the examples given here, other techniques known by the skilled will also be used.
[0052] Figures lc shows a ring comprising a pin 10. The pin is designed for receiving another unit comprising for example a recess. The pin may be of optional length. Figure Id shows a similar embodiment but of an openable ring 50. The opening technique used here is only an example other technicues known by the skilled can also be used. The number of pins may also vary. The ring may also comprise holes as in Fig. 3 (holes 40).
[0053] Figure 2a-d show different combinations of ring shaped base units 2 comprising for example two pins 10 as in Fig. 2a, three pins 10 as in Fig. 2b or a plurality of rings as shown in Figs. 2c. The pin(s) 10 is/are attached to the ring shaped unit 1 by soldering and may be for example a bayonet screw. However, the pin may in another embodiment be an ordinary screw. The many pins 10 mounted on the ring gives many possibilities to mount different decorative units or base jewelries to the ring. The ring 1 may be used to link another decorative unit or a base jewelry 2, or to another accessory, or to be worn on the finger as a finger ring. The rings comprising at least one pin may be openable 50 or not openable 1. The rings may also be of any material. The ring does not have to be round in shape; it may be of heart shape, star shape etc. or any shape. Figure 2d shows a ring comprising a pin 10 and three holes 40. The number of holes is at least one, but may be 5, 10 or above 20. The number is optional. In this embodiment there are three diametrically symmetrically holes for holding several rings together with fastening means. The fastening means may be of an optionally chosen pin like structure made of any material. The rings can be any ring, such as a finger ring, an openable or not openable ring, a bangle or a decorative unit as such.
[0054] The principle of the fastening system comprises different embodiments of the pin, recess, and pin-recess system and the openable and not openable rings.
[0055] The pin 10 may be flat or round on the top. The decorative unit is somewhat movable if the pin is round on the top and not movable if the pin is flat on the top.
[0056] A link of pearls may be engaged to a ring comprising a pin, in turn engaged to an openable ring further engaged to other rings. The system provides many
possibilities of engaging an endless number of links by using the pin-recess engagement.
[0057] Figure 3a shows five rings engaged via one hole 40 with in this embodiment a bolt. The rings may be of the same or different material. Figure 3b shows a side view of the same ring, the rings are moved in relation to each other which makes the decorative units end up in different positions. A ring of this type may comprise at least one or a plurality of holes 40. The legth of the pin varies and can be used to hold rings together in
a certain position, or - separate rings to be in a predetermined position in relation to each other.
[0058] Figure 3c shows a ring 1 with a decorative unit 100 (dotted line), attached to its pin 10. The decorative units 100 may be of any shape, color or material. For example the decorative unit 100 is in the form of a bead (for example a pearl) comprising a recess 20, which is mounted in a bore made in the decorative unit or the decorative units may comprise one or a plurality of recesses 20, one or a plurality of pins 10 or a combination thereof.
[0059] Figure 3d shows a side view of ring with a broader upper side engaged to several other similar rings. The broader upper portion comprise the pin, where the decorative units are mounted (i.e., the upper part) on the ring and thinner in the lower portion that will be on the inside of the hand. The rings with a broader upper portion and thinner lower portion makes the ring more comfortable on the finger and, moreover, makes the decorative units have a "spread" look.
[0060] Examples of combinations may comprise a bangle (large ring 1) engaged to two openable rings 50, the openable rings may in turn be linked to other rings of different size. The ring can be further engaged to another ring that for example comprises three pins 10. Different kinds of pearls are engaged to respective pin 10.
[0061] The decorative units and base jewelries as well as the product - the piece of jewelry may also be jeweled or engraved.
[0062] The combination possibilities of the present invention are infinite as long as the decorative units comprise the mounting part or a shape that can be combined with the openable part. Moreover, the invention makes it possible to match color, material and also the design of the jewelry to the dress and occasion for the day which is very valuable.
