Abstract
Description
式(1)の化合物とは、式(1)で表わされる1種又は2種以上の化合物を意味し、2種以上の化合物については化合物群とする場合もある。式(2)以下も同様である。また、式(1)に含まれる化合物群では、式(1-1)、式(1-2)と記載しているが、これらは式(1)に属する化合物群を官能基等により分類したものであり、式(1-1)の化合物群をさらに分類した場合には、式(1-1-1)と記載する。なお、式(1)、式(1-1)等と記載せず式を略し(1)、(1-1)とのみ記載している場合もある。式(2)以下の場合も同様である。
尚、前記一般式(1)で表わされる本発明の化合物が、複数の立体異性体の混合物として存在してもよく、また、シス/トランス異性体の形態でありうる場合は、一般にトランス異性体が好ましい。
第二成分としては、式(2)、(3)及び(4)で表わされる各化合物群のうちの少なくとも1種類以上の化合物が組み合わされた液晶組成物である。すなわち、第二成分には、式(2)~(4)の各化合物群の中の少なくとも1種類の化合物がそれぞれ含有されている。そして、この第一成分と第二成分が混合された液晶組成物が構成され、応答速度が改善される。
式(5)の化合物群も、液晶組成物の粘度を低下させ、応答速度を改善する機能を有しているため、これを混合した場合により応答速度が改善される場合があるからである。
尚、パーセンテージは重量パーセントである。温度は全て摂氏温度で示される。NI温度はネマチック相アイソトロピック相転移温度、Δnは光学異方性(589nm,25℃)を表わす。Δnは下記母液晶Dに本発明化合物を10%加えた液晶組成物を用いて測定後、外挿法によって決定した。
イソプロパノール12mlに式(1-4-1)の化合物を2.12g、NaBH4を 0.8gを加え、還流下に32時間加熱した。その後、トルエン抽出し、シリカゲルカラム処理(ヘプタン/酢酸エチル=5/1)により、以下に示す式(1-5-1)の化合物を得た。
式(1-5-1)の化合物の 0.82gをジクロロメタン8mlに溶解し、4℃にてDASTを0.56g加え、そののち室温にて28時間撹拌した。反応混合物を氷水に注ぎ、ジクロロメタンにて抽出した。シリカゲルカラム処理(ヘプタン100%)及びクーゲルロール蒸留を行い、目的物である式(1-1-1)の化合物を0.3g得た。
Δn= 0.067 m/z=254
尚、次式(1-5-2)から(1-5-3)の化合物は下記の式(1-5-1)の化合物と同様にして合成される。

Note:比較例2の混合割合(重量比) は、式(6-1):式(6-2):式(6-3)=1:1:1であり、比較例3の混合割合(重量比)は、式 (7-1):比較例1=1:9である。
Note:実施例2の混合割合(重量比) は、式(1-1-1):比較例1=1:9であり、実施例3の混合割合(重量比)は、式(1-2-1):比較例1=1:9である。
Claims (8)
- 第一成分として請求項1の式(1)で表わされるシクロヘキサン化合物群の少なくとも1種類の化合物を含有し、第二成分として式(6)、(7)及び(8)で表わされる各化合物群の少なくとも1種類の化合物群を有してなる液晶組成物。
- 請求項3の液晶組成物に請求項4の式(7)の化合物群の少なくとも1種類の化合物を混合させた液晶組成物。
- 請求項1に記載のシクロヘキサン化合物群を1または2種以上含有することを特徴とした液晶組成物。
- 請求項1から請求項6のいずれかに記載の液晶組成物の電気光学用途における使用。
- 液晶セルに請求項1から請求項6のいずれかに記載の液晶組成物を封入してなる電気光学表示素子。
