図1に示すように、髭用の電気かみそり11は、使用者が把持可能な把持部12と、該把持部12の上端部に設けられたヘッド13とを備える。ヘッド13は、把持部12に対して、例えば、三種類の動作をすることができるように設けられている。第1の動作は、ヘッド13の前後方向X(剃り方向)に沿って延びる軸(X軸)を中心とする傾動動作である。第2の動作は、ヘッド13の幅方向Y(剃り方向の直交方向)に沿って延びる軸(Y軸)を中心とする傾動動作である。第3の動作は、上下方向、即ち垂直方向Zに沿った往復動作(振動)である。尚、電気かみそり11の前後方向X、幅方向Y、及び上下方向、即ち垂直方向Zは、それぞれ互いに直交する方向である。
(1)五つの外刃20(スリット刃21及びネット刃22~25)は、ヘッド13の前後方向Xに沿って並設されるため、4つの外刃が並設される電気かみそりに比べて、更に効率良く、少ない往復動作で良好な仕上がりを得ることができる。又、電気かみそり11をヘッド13の前後方向Xの一端から肌上に当接させて移動、即ち摺動させていく場合、スリット刃21は、肌に接触する面積が小さくなりやすいため、肌に強い押圧力で局部的に接触しダメージを与えやすい。スリット刃21がヘッド13の前後方向Xの中央に配置され、肌にダメージを与え難い複数のネット刃22,23がヘッド13の前後方向の両端にそれぞれ配置されている。従って、スリット刃21が単独で肌に強い押圧力で接触することが低減されるため、肌へのダメージを低減することができる。しかも、スリット刃21を中心としてヘッド13の前後方向Xに沿って配設される2つずつのネット刃22~25は、スリット刃21を中心としてヘッド13の前後方向Xに沿って対称に配置されている。換言すれば、ネット刃22~25は、Y軸、即ちスリット刃21に関して線対称をなすように配置されている。このため、例えば、ヘッド13の前後方向Xの両端の内のどちら側(前方側又は後方側)から外刃20を肌上に当接させて移動、即ち摺動させていっても、同様の仕上がりを得ることができる。よって、例えば、一定の良好な仕上がりを得るために、決められた一方向に向かって摺動させるといった必要がなく、使い勝手が良好となる。
・上記実施の形態では、ヘッド13の前後方向Xの両端に配置された通常のネット刃22,23の双方が、他の仕上げ用のネット刃24,25よりも同じ高さだけ低くなるように設定される。これに限定されず、例えば、図3に示すように、ヘッド13の前後方向Xの両端に配置されたネット刃22,23の双方が、他のネット刃24,25よりも同じ高さだけ高くなるように設定されてもよい。このような構成によれば、ヘッド13の幅方向Yから見て(図3参照)外刃20全体が凹状となるため、顎先等の凸部にフィットし易くなり、該凸部において良好な仕上がりを得ることができる。又、ヘッド13の前後方向Xの両端に配置されたネット刃22,23にて鼻下の髭を剃る場合に、唇に外刃20(仕上げ用のネット刃24,25及びスリット刃21)が接触し難くなる。

前記外刃の前後方向の中央に配置されるとともに、前記外刃の短手方向に沿った複数のスリットを有するスリット刃と、
該スリット刃を中心として前記ヘッドの前後方向に複数ずつ配設される前網目状の複数のネット刃とを含み、
