Abstract

Paper pallet structure with pallet-feet and struttings formed from sheaves (1) made of two or more simple geometric profiles. These individual profiles can be in their diameter circular, triangular, quadrangular or multiple-angular pipe-shaped or prismatic-shaped. These profiles within the sheaves with regards to the axle directions of their basic components are fixed parallel to each other, having used gluing technology. The pallet-feet connecting struttings suit into the slots of the sheaves (5) of the pallet-feet. All the pallet-feet and the lower (4) or upper struttings (2) (3) are protected from external impacts by corrugated cardboard covers of different types (7) (8) (9). The coverslip (6) is attached to the pallet-feet and to the upper struttings on the four sides of the pallet by bent and glued flappers (7). The upper struttings in the mid section of the pallet structure are also covered by trapezoid shaped corrugated cardboard elements glued to the underneath-section of the coverslip. The front- and the back-side pallet-feet structure are made of arrow-headed form (1) and protected by an extra V-shaped corrugated cardboard coverage protection (9).

Description

Extensively reinforced paper-pallet-structure by simple geometrical conformation sheaves
Field of Invention
The idea of the invention is to introduce an alternative pallet, made of paper or recycled paper. It is to offer an alternative to the generally used wooden pallets and pallets of other raw materials with matching carrying capacity of wood-made pallets.
Problem to be solved:
To create and manufacture a pallet made of environment-friendly recycled paper used as raw material with a structure that guarantees ample carrying capacity, and at the same time, secures the economically feasible features of transportation at much lower net basic weight. Additional target kept in mind during the planning stage was the application of simple structures, joints and fastenings to enable simple and technologically uncomplicated manufacturing processes that can be easily automatised. It was also a target to find a way to convert the basically one-way application pallet into a multiple applications pallet by the usage of appropriate treatments and the coverage of the surfaces with the right coatings.
The solution of the task:
The core idea of the pallet-type described in this presentation is none other than the application of the fact, derived from Mother Nature, that with the use of sheaved structures, such as pipes or prismatic structures, we can achieve a much sturdier structure than as in case of applying single pipes or prismatic structure profiles for the same purpose. This idea is supported by the cognition of the simple fact, that the application of sheaves, -which are in this case the application of pipes or prismatic structure profiles adjacent or parallel to each other,- lessens the opportunity of serious damages in comparison to single geometrical form structures.
The invention is presented in detail via figures using pipe-sheave structures.
Figure Nr. 1. shows the structure of this special type of pallet-foot invented to solve the task.
From this figure it can be clearly seen, that the pallet-feet are structured by the application of geometric profiles in adjacently parallel order. In case of this figure, the profiles are simple pipes. The invention does not only describe the application of pipes as modules, i.e. the application of parallely structured basic material of circular forms (in our case, pipes), it also introduces structures with the basic form of the material being of triangular, quadrate or multiple-angle transverse section prismatic items. An example of this is indicated in Figure
Nr. 1 of the transverse-section drawing of a sheaved pallet-foot.
The number of individual components applied during the manufacture of the pallets, i.e. of pipes or prismatic items is subject to the future carrying-weight requirements the pallet is set against.
Figure Nr. 2 describes the spatial view of the pallet at the end of the manufacturing process and its internal structure also. It can be seen on this figure, that the pallet feet (Mark Nr. 1) are connected with a so-called strutting structure (Mark Nr. 2, 3 and 4) , which are composed of glued elements of different size, axionally fixed parallel to each other. These elements can be made of circular transverse sections (pipes), or of triangular, quadrate or multiple-angle transverse section prismatic items.
During the manufacture of the pallet splint, in order to guarantee a fixed strutting structure with maximum weight-carrying capacity, slots with the ample width fulfill this task. See
Figure Nr. 2, Mark Nr. 5.
The lower strutting structure of the pallet in contact with the ground are covered and protected by corrugated cardboard also made of paper. This protection and strengthening cover is formed trapezoid from the chassis-protection corrugated cardboard by bent and glued technology. (See Figure Nr. 2, Mark Nr. 8 and Figure Nr. 3, Mark Nr. 2). Flappers that reach underneath the pallet-feet are bent backed and fixed by glue to the pallet-feet. (See Figure
Nr.3, Mark Nr.l).
The ready-made splints are additionally covered by paper-based raw material coverage, such as of corrugated cardboard, surrounding the whole of the pallet-foot -structure. (See Figure
Nr. 2, Mark Nr. 7).
The upper strutting structure which is the longitude and transverse strutting structure is connected to the weight-carrying part of the pallets, further referred to as coverslip. (See
Figure Nr. 2, Mark Nr. 6) This strutting structure is also fixed and protected by a cover made to trapezoid form and glued to the coverslip. (See Figure Nr. 4, Mark Nr.4). The form of this coverslip is, during the manufacture of the pallet, achieved with the adjustment of the flappers to form-fit the coverslip. (The fixation of the strutting is indicated in Figure Nr. 4, Mark Nr.2 and Figure Nr. 5, Mark Nr. 1).
Figure Nr. 4 describes the upper strutting structure in case of triangular-form strutting and their application to the coverslip (Figure Nr. 4, Mark Nr. 1). The coverslip is fixed in one way by the protective cover over the upper strutting and on the other way by the protective flappers of the pallet-feet both of them formed from the coverslip. (Figure 5, Mark Nr. 2).
The fixation of the coverslip to the pallet-feet is strengthened by the application of flappers made on the upper section of the surrounding corrugated cardboard covers of the pallet-feet, glued to the underneath-section of the coverslip.
The sturdiness and the stability of the pallet-structure can be enhanced by the variation of the diameter, the wall-width and the number of applied circular, or triangle, quadrangle or multiple-angle elements applied, both in case of the pallet-feet and the struttings. According to this principle, the increase of the number of elements applied as struttings increases the weight-carrying capacity of the areas of the pallet between the pallet-feet. Figure Nr. 5. indicates the structure of the upper connecting struttings (See Marks 3 and 4) the lower connecting struttings (See mark 5) and the form of the coverslip. As it can be seen, the upper and the lower struttings differ from each other. The lower strutting has only longitudinal struttings, without trans-sectional struttings. This implies, that at the lower part the longitudinal strutting runs all along the length of the pallet and it is glued to the splitting. In case of the upper strutting, fitted to the coverslip and contrary to the lower strutting structure - , a trans-sectional strutting is fixed between the two wide-end splint (See Mark Nr. 3), meaning that the elements of the longitudinal struttings are shorter and connect only two adjacent pallet-feet with each other. (See Mark Nr. 4).
Of Figure Nr. 2, at the area Marked 9, it can be seen, that the front side and the backside pallet-feet are covered by V-shaped coverage, protecting it from external damages. The front side and the backside splint are arrow-headed against possible damages of forklift handling. In order for the cover slips to be treated by any external protection or material-strengthening substance, the fixing of the lower struttings reaching underneath the coverslip with the re-bent flappers, are connected with bored spikes. These star-formed spikes make it possible during the boring of them, that the covering substance inserted during treatment also reach the internal walls of the pallet-foot-parts and are properly glued.
In order to increase the weight-carrying capacity of the pallet structure, the thickness of the coverslip can also be increased by the application of further layers of corrugated cardboard layers in such a way, that these newly added cardboard parts are fixed underneath the coverslip with the flappers, fixed to the splint by the application of this method. (Figure 4, Mark Nr. 3). The competitive advantages of the invention:
The product of the invention described above carries the same goals as pallets of more expensive and higher net weight, but made of paper, including recycled paper used as raw material. Its structure is easily variable by the simple application of basic adjustments during the technology processes, such as the application of higher number of parts applied, or the increase of the wall-thickness of the material used or the variation of the gluing and coating material. The application of these almost unlimited varieties would enable the low-cost manufacture of pallets with variable weight-carrying capacity of low net weight. Contrary to the method of protection against causative agents, as compulsory in case of pallets made of wood, the multiple-application version of our type of pallets does not require it. The arrow- headed structure of the pallet-feet and the application of protective coating are of elevated level of service by forklift weights.
Due to its low net weight it decreases transportation costs, it is environmental-friendly, is recyclable and does not directly require the application of costly, freshly cut and pre-handled wood as raw material.
