Abstract
The invention relates to a device having an input unit for the input of control commands into the device, wherein the position of an input element can be detected and a control command can be generated from the position of the input element, wherein the input element is not mechanically connected to the device, wherein the input unit comprises at least one light source for emitting light rays and at least one sensor for receiving the emitted light rays. The at least one light source and the at least one sensor are arranged such that the light of the at least one light source can be reflected by the input element to the at least one sensor, and whereby the input unit comprises an evaluation unit that determines the particular total length that the light from the associated light source traveled by way of the input element to the particular sensor from the differences between the light emitted by the light source and the light received by the sensor, or determines a value proportional to the total length.
