Abstract

The area of spectacle glasses is divided into a darkened peripheral region and the central region that can be non-darkened, or less or more darkened, or darkening of another color, or be a hole cut in the glasses for the improvement of view, limited access of UV rays into the human body, the protection of vision from color distortion, demonstration of beauty of eyes, and image- making delimitation of the darkened regions. The central parts of the glasses act as "windows" which allow using darkening against the sun the most comfortably. Versions of sunglasses with darkening for image purposes or a cut in the region of "window" in the form of theme pictures, blot contours, darkening increased from the region of "windows" to the periphery of a spectacles glass, combined darkening etc are proposed. The sunglasses have no harmful effects of standard spectacles glasses and do not distort reality.

Description

The Sunglasses with Peripheral Darkening
The Description of the Invention
Technical Field
The invention relates to field of medicine and can be used for the improvement of view, limited access of ultra-violet rays into the human body and vision protection from color distortion in the sunglasses.
Background Art
Sunglasses with even darkened glasses are common knowledge. Intensively darkened glasses tincture reality into unnatural colors and slightly darkened glasses give poor protection of vision against ultra-violet (UV) rays. It is a known fact that glasses with intensive and medium darkening can cause discomfort in perception of reality as well as malfunction of psyche and vision.
Sunglasses with the upper half of glasses more darkened and lower part of glasses less darkened for a better field of view are wide-known. Such darkening of glasses is good protection from up-coming sun rays. However, throughout day-time the sun shines from different sides, øpper darkening does not protect from the side sunshine.
Sunglasses strongly distort and darken view indoors. One has to take them off indoors to see clearly or endure poor visibility and color distortion that is not comfortable and safe for vision. And photochromic spectacles are very expensive and they do not give image-making outlines of darkening.
Many women have beautiful and expressive eyes. But sunglasses can hide them. it is a known fact that sometimes coating is done in the central part of the glass in expensive tinted spectacles, mainly in prescription spectacles, for the improvement of view and reading. However, such coating is always of the same color as the main coating, it is formless, is seen only from the inner side of the spectacles and therefore can not be considered as image- making one. It's so that outside tinted eyeglasses look as two big dark stains on the face. And we can't see the beauty of women's eyes through them. Darkened (color) spectacles for color therapy purposes are known (1,2). Color therapeutic darkening differs from darkening for protection against the sun as regard to purposes, use and type of darkening. For instance, color therapeutic darkening is an active component of spectacles to influence vision; darkening as protection from the sun is a passive component of spectacles blocking influence on vision. Unlike darkening as protection from the sun, spectacles' darkening in color therapy is done with medicinal colors to treat patients, etc. Color therapeutic spectacles with darkening can not be used by ordinary people who wear sunglasses.
The problem of the necessity of protection of eyes from UV rays is a disputable issue. Even in subtropical and tropical countries population wear sunglasses very seldom. Many noted scientists (Liberman, Pankov, et al 3,4) have proved the necessity of UV irradiation for healthy eyes and brain function.
Disclosure of the Invention
The purpose of the present invention is the improvement of view and higher stylish character of sunglasses in combination with limited access of UV rays into the human body and the protection of vision from color distortions. To realize this purpose, the area of spectacles glasses is divided into a darkened peripheral region and the central region that can be non- darkened, or less or more darkened, or darkening of another color, or be a hole cut in the glasses for the improvement of view, limited access of UV rays into the human body, the protection of vision from color distortion, demonstration of beauty of eyes, and image-making delimitation of the darkened regions. The central parts of glasses serve as "windows" to allow using sun- protected darkening in the most comfortable way.
Sunglasses (tinted glasses) are usually used in two cases: for protection of eyes from UV irradiation and as an element of style and image. Sunglasses really protect vision from strong sun shine for a very short time. People seldom look at the sun through sunglasses. In other cases sun rays come to the spectacles surface on the tangent or as reduced reflected light. Many times people turn their eyes to objects of different illumination, enter shadow zones and rooms, wear spectacles during periods of the weak activity of the sun, in regions with moderate climate, etc. All that time protection from bright sun shine is not necessary, constant stress due darkening of reality and color distortion is imposed on vision. Peripheral darkening allows transferring the protection of vision from UV rays to intensified protection covering about 80% of the area of a spectacles glass (the zone of peripheral vision) and the protection of view covering about 20% of the area of a spectacles glass (the zone of direct sight).
In spite of seeming weakening of protection, sunglasses with peripheral darkening are quite sufficiently protect eyes from UV irradiation: peripheral darkening blocks a greater part of UV rays arriving at spectacles glasses and small area of "windows" hinders the arrival of direct sun rays into eyes (if one does not specially look at the sun). Comfortable tinting of the region of "windows" also has protective ability.
If spectacles are used as an element of style and image the availability of coated optics is a must for realistic view, especially indoors. Coated windows of different intensity and shape can become an additional element of decoration of the spectacles, the feature showing and stressing style and image.
Methods of the use of sunglasses with the peripheral blackening are similar to methods of the use of ordinary sunglasses. Size, shape of a cut and extend of tinting can depend on the style of the spectacles and required level of protection from UV rays. The area of "windows" from contours of eyelids to the outlines of an eyeball is sufficient to improve view. However, if the region of "windows" is used as an element of decoration of the spectacles the size and shape of "windows*' can depend only on the imagination of a designer.
Advantageous Effects
Unlike ordinary sunglasses, the sunglasses with peripheral darkening do not color and do not blacken view or blacken it in much lower degree. Reality of perception of surroundings with the sunglasses is maintained.
The spectacles with peripheral darkening are judged indoors not as sunglasses but as image spectacles; they should not be taken off to see clearly.
The sunglasses with peripheral darkening equally protect vision from the upper and side sun.
The spectacles with "windows" cut in the central part of the glasses can become a compromise for opponents of spectacles who affirm that spectacles glasses block UV rays required for physiological processes (Liberman, Pankov, et al. 3,4). Glasses with cut "windows" retain excess UV rays on their peripheral part but let them in through the central part and ensure normal function of the human body. Unlike glasses with 30% rays permeability, UV rays penetration through "windows" occurs in natural concentration (although to smaller extend) and will not be artificially lowered when the sun shines for a short time.
Spectacles with cut "windows" protect eyes against negative influence of "misted eyes" caused by "greenhouse effect" and do not bring discomfort due to glasses.
- "Windows" that have a cut in the central part of the spectacles are physiological for eyes, as they ensure correct, from physiological point of view, front air flow around the mucous membrane when moving and in wind, which is characteristic of ordinary sunglasses and darkened glasses with side cuts.
Peripheral darkening is capable to increase concentration of attention in work and studies. Darkening in dark tones limits the supply of information into the brain from side vision; that leads to the concentration of attention in central vision (effect of horse blinkers).
Without mental tension black-toned spectacles with peripheral darkening block supply of information into the brain from side vision and give the brain a rest. Maximum relief of the brain from visual information with this method of relaxation attains 80%.
The region of "windows" can be used for weaker darkening at the comfortable level. There can be different colors of peripheral darkening and the regions of the "windows".
The contours of the "windows" can be made as feature showing the style and image of the owner: to single them out as theme pictures, blot contours, etc. It is possible to use darkening which increases from the region of the "winφws" to the periphery of a spectacles glass.
- Spectacles with "windows" don't hide beautiful women's eyes.
Versions for Carrying out the Invention
Version 1. The sunglasses without darkening of the region of «windows" in the central part of the glasses.
Version 2. The sunglasses with a zone of lower darkening in the region of "windows". Peripheral darkening and darkening of "windows" may be of different colors.
Version 3. The sunglasses with "windows" cut in the central part of the darkened glasses.
Version 4. The sunglasses with image darkening or a cut of the region of "windows" in a form of theme pictures, blot contours, etc.
Version 5. The sunglasses with darkening increasing from the region of "windows" to the periphery of a spectacles glass. Version 6.
