Abstract
Disclosed is an optical glass which comprises 15 to 30% of B2O3, 2 to 8% of SiO2, 15 to 30% of La2O3, 15 to 30% of Gd2O3, 20 to 30% of ZnO, 0.1 to 2% of Li2O, 0.1 to 6% of ZrO2 and 0.1 to 6% of Ta2O5 as essential components, and optionally further comprises 0 to 6% of WO3, wherein all of the contents of the components are expressed in terms of the oxide contents by mass. The optical glass has a total content of Ta2O5, ZrO2 and WO3 of 0.2 to 9%, a refractive index (nd) of 1.77 to 1.78, an Abbe's number (νd) of 46 to 48, and a glass transition temperature (Tg) of 600˚C or lower. The optical glass has high-refractive and low-scattering optical properties, has a low molding temperature, is less likely to devitrify, and has excellent molding resistance.
