Abstract
It is intended to provide tea leaves (in particular, green tea) containing chafuloside (a flavone C glycoside), which has been known as having an antioxidant effect, an antiallergic effect, an anti-inflammatory effect and a carcinostatic effect, at an extremely high ratio, or a powder or an astringent tea concentrate of these tea leaves (in particular, green tea). It is also intended to provide a method of easily producing chafuloside-rich tea leaves or a powder or an astringent tea concentrate of these tea leaves. Chafuloside-rich tea leaves or a powder or an astringent tea concentrate of the tea leaves characterized in that, when measured by the HPLC-MS/MS analysis method, the tea leaves or the powder or the astringent tea concentrate of the tea leaves contain from 5 to 50 μg of chafuloside per gram of the tea leaves or the astringent tea concentrate. In particular, chafuloside-rich tea leaves or a powder or an astringent tea concentrate of the tea leaves wherein the tea leaves are tea leaves for green tea or tea leaves for black tea and the astringent tea concentrate is an astringent tea concentrate obtained from green tea.
