Abstract
An exhaust gas substance purifier having a small device structure and used for treating particulate in an exhaust gas containing oxygen exhausted from a thermal engine such as a reciprocal engine, a rotary engine, a jet engine, or a gas turbine at a low temperature with a high efficiency and with a low cost by a dry method not using ammonia or urea even if no catalyst is used. NOx, soot, and carbon hydride in the exhaust gas can be simultaneously removed. The purifier comprises a cavity (7) into which the exhaust gas is introduced through an exhaust gas passage, a particulate collecting filter (2) formed of a heat-resistant material to which a microwave absorber material (4) is added and housed in a cavity (7), a pulse electromagnetic radiation supply source (9) for outputting an electromagnetic wave having a frequency in the GHz band, and a microwave antenna (8) supplied with an electromagnetic wave from the pulse electromagnetic radiation supply source (9) and adapted for radiating a microwave into the cavity (7). The radiated microwave is confined and resonated in the cavity (7).
