Abstract

In an elevator apparatus, a safety-monitoring unit detects an abnormality of the operation of the elevator apparatus based on the signals from the sensors for detecting the status of elevator devices. When the safety-monitoring device detects an abnormality, it selectively operates braking devices of various types according to the type of the abnormality, thereby decelerating and stopping a car.
