Abstract

Improved processes for the purification of crude polyol-containing compositions (e.g., glycerol-containing compositions) using a sweep gas are reported. The processes may be used to strip polyols from crude polyol compositions that contain heavy impurities, or may be used to strip light impurities from crude polyol compositions comprising light impurities. Advantageously, the processes of the invention do not require high processing temperatures or low processing pressures (i.e., vacuum) to purify the crude polyol-containing compositions.
