Description
Device for preparing a wine for tasting in a glass.
The present invention relates to a device for preparing a wine for tasting in a glass.
Generally, before tasting a wine it is necessary to air it, so that it can express all its perfumes. This operation is done by turning the wine in the glass or by pouring it into a decanter so as to increase the surface of contact with the air.
The first method is not satisfactory, because the surface of the wine in contact with the air is not very large and does not allow good aeration, When the second method it requires a carafe and takes longer because it is necessary to wait for the wine to have a good aeration, with the risk of loss of the fine aromas.
The object of the present invention is to provide an easy-to-carry device which guarantees optimal ventilation of a wine contained in a glass.
These aims are achieved with a device for preparing a wine for tasting in a glass according to the invention defined in claim 1.
An embodiment of the device according to the invention made of copper combines the aeration process of the wine with the known principle of redox wine in contact with copper, and thus provides a remarkable result. Indeed, for a long time some oenologists placed a small copper coin in their glass to better appreciate the wine tasted. Moreover, in FR 2845393 there is described a device whose principle is based on the oxidation reduction of wine in the presence of copper.
The invention will be better understood and its characteristics will appear more clearly on reading the description of an embodiment, given solely by way of example, with reference to the drawings in which: Figure 1 shows an embodiment of a device according to the invention arranged in a glass.
FIG. 3 represents a front view of the device of FIG. 1. FIG. 4 represents a view from above of the device of FIG. 1.
As can be seen in FIG. 1, a device 1 for preparing a wine for tasting according to the invention is placed in a glass 7, for example a tulip glass. However, glass means any container that can be used for tasting. This device consists of a slat 2 having at its upper part 3 a clip 9 forming a means of hooking said device to the edge 8 of the glass 7. In the embodiment shown the clip 9 is made by the fold of the end 3 of the strip on itself, but it could also be constituted by a clamp or any other means for keeping the device hooked to the edge of said glass. The lower portion 4 of the lamella 1 has perforations 5, constituting a means of improving the aeration of the wine by stirring, when the taster gives a turning movement to the wine.
In the embodiment shown, said slat has a relative twist of its ends 3 and 4 so that, when its upper part 3 is glued to the wall of the glass, its lower part 4 is detached from the wall of the glass 7, in order to promote contact with the wine, the twist angle is preferably 45 °.
In its preferred embodiment, the device for preparing a wine for tasting in a glass is produced by a copper lamella 10 cm long and about 15 mm wide, with a thickness of about 0.5 mm. , presenting in its lower part perforations with a diameter of about 2mm. However, it should be noted that other variants are also possible, especially for old wines and certain white wines, where the slat of the device consists of a neutral metal or synthetic resin for the wine, in order to preserve the fragile wine avoiding redox due to copper. The device described is used in the following manner, the slide is slid into the glass and is attached to the upper edge. The wine is poured into the glass and stirred by rotating the liquid in the glass in the usual way, which allows a micro-brewing of the wine so as to aerate quickly and optimally. As the lower part of the slat has an angle with its upper part this does not hinder the rotation of the liquid, while ensuring the best exchange between copper and wine.
It will be enough to make some movements of rotation of the glass, to control the evolution in the nose after 5 to 10 seconds and to continue if necessary the agitation until the unfolding of the aromas. In 15 to 20 seconds, and for more tannic wines in less than a minute, the operation is over. We can then remove the device.
In conclusion, this invention, which consists of a discreet and easy-to-carry device, allows a wine to express all its aromas and nuances, while balancing the acidity and tannins, with remarkable efficiency.
