Abstract

In the case of a device (1) for gassing and/or degassing containers (2) to be sealed with a film (4) and containing in particular items of food (5) or the like, with a sealing plate (7) which acts on the outer surface of the film (4) and seals the latter in an airtight manner with the edge region (3) of the container (4), it is intended to increase the degassing or gassing of containers (2) considerably in comparison with the previously known cycle times, and at the same time it is intended to reduce the initial cost of such a device (1). This is achieved by a small tube (11) being insertable between the film (4) and the edge region (3) of the container (2), by the sealing plate (7) having a clearance (14) running in the region of the small tube (11), and by the film (4) being connected by means of a sealing die (15) in an airtight manner to the edge region (3) of the container (2) in the region of the small tube (11) after its removal, or by a valve (21) being present in the container (2) or in the film (4), by a small tube (11) being insertable into the valve (21) from the outside and by it being possible for the space that is closed by the film (4) and the container (2) to be evacuated and/or gassed through the small tube (11) after or during the sealing operation by the sealing plate (7).
