- step (a) a wired/wireless communication terminal 100 or a cyber terminal 210 is registered in a cyber terminal system according to the present invention.
- Step (a) includes the steps of (al) accessing a switch server 400 by a user computer 200 so as to make a request that the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 is registered in the cyber terminal system according to the present invention; (a2) transmitting the request of the user computer 200 to the wired/wireless communication server 300 by a switch server 400; and (a3) registering the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 in the cyber terminal system according to the present invention by the wired/wireless communication server 300 and storing information regarding the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 on its own database.
- step (al) for example, the user accesses the switch server 400 by using the user computer 200, selects a "Register” function from various functions provided by the switch server 400, and inputs information regarding the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 (e.g. the number of the wired/wireless communication terminal 100).

- step (b) the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 or the cyber terminal 210 is provided with a wired/wireless communication service from the wired/wireless communication server 300.
- Step (b) includes the steps of (bl) receiving a wired/wireless communication service request of a wired/wireless communication terminal (not shown) of another user by the wired/wireless communication server 300 and determining a wired/wireless communication service, which is to be provided to the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 or the cyber terminal 210; (b2) informing the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 or the cyber terminal 210 of the wired/wireless communication service by the wired/wireless communication server 300; and (b3) receiving the wired/wireless communication service from the wired/wireless communication server 300 by the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 or the cyber terminal 210.
- Step (bl) includes the steps of (bll) receiving a wired/wireless communication service request of a wired/wireless communication terminal (not shown) of another user by the wired/wireless communication server 300; (bl2) checking what wired/wireless communication service the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 or the cyber terminal 210 can receive by the wired/wireless communication server 300; and (bl3) searching information regarding whether the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 is turned on or off and receiving information regarding the condition of the cyber terminal 210 from the switch server 400 by the wired/wireless communication server 300.
- the reason the step (bl2) of checking what wired/wireless communication service the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 or the cyber terminal 210 can receive by the wired/wireless communication server 300 is performed is that, when the user wants to receive a wired/wireless communication service from a wired/wireless communication company, he must subscribe to the service first. This is also the case in the present invention. That is to say, the user cannot receive a service from a wired/wireless communication company via the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 or the cyber terminal 210 unless he subscribes to the service.
- the reason the wired/wireless communication server 300 receives information regarding the condition of the cyber terminal from the switch server 400 and receives information regarding whether the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 is switched on or off in step (bl3) is that, based on whether the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 is switched on or off, the wired/wireless communication server 300 can determine whether or not to provide the wired/wireless communication service.
- step (b2) the wired/wireless communication server 300 directly provides a wired/wireless communication service to the wired/wireless communication terminal 100, but not to the cyber terminal 210. Instead, the wired/wireless communication server 300 transmits the wired/wireless communication service to the communication server 500, which then forwards the service to the cyber terminal 210.
- the reason is the same as has been described with regard to the cyber terminal system, and repeated description thereof will be omitted herein.
- step (b2) when the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 is turned on, the wired/wireless communication server 300 provides the wired/wireless communication service to both the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 and the cyber terminal 210.
- the wired/wireless communication server 300 When the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 is turned off, the wired/wireless communication server 300 provides the service to the cyber terminal 210 only.
- step (b3) the wired/wireless communication server 300 stops providing the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 with the wired/wireless communication service at the request of the cyber terminal 210.

[Technical Problem]
Therefore, the present invention has been made in view of the above- mentioned problems, and it is an object of the present invention to provide a system and a method for implementing a cyber terminal together with a wired/wireless communication terminal, both of which constitute a pair, so that the user can receive a service from a wired/wireless communication company not only via the wired/wireless communication terminal, but also via the cyber terminal, thereby guaranteeing that, even when the wired/wireless
communication terminal malfunctions and fails to receive the service from the wired/wireless communication company properly, the user can still receive the service via the cyber terminal. [Technical Solution]
In order to accomplish this object, there is provided a system for realizing a cyber terminal, the system including a wired/wireless communication terminal (100); a user computer (200) incorporating a cyber terminal (210), the cyber terminal (210) and the wired/wireless communication terminal (110) constituting a pair and performing a wired/wireless communication service; a wired/wireless communication server (300) providing the wired/wireless communication terminal (100) or the cyber terminal (210) with the wired/wireless communication service; a switch server (400) interworking with the user computer (200) and the wired/wireless communication server (300) so as to mediate flow of information necessary to drive the cyber terminal (210); and a communication server (500) interworking with the user computer (200) and the wired/wireless communication server (300) so as to mediate provision of the wired/wireless communication service from the wired/wireless communication server (300) to the cyber terminal (210).
According to another aspect of the present invention, there is provided a method for implementing a cyber terminal, the method including the steps of (a) registering the wired/wireless communication terminal (100) in the system according to the present invention; and (b) providing the wired/wireless communication terminal (100) or the cyber terminal (210) with a wired/wireless communication service from the wired/wireless communication server (300).
The wired/wireless communication terminal 100 is a conventional terminal. Particularly, the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 may be a desktop computer, but it is not limited to that. The wired/wireless communication terminal 100 can access an external Internet network via a wired/wireless communication network, for example.
The user computer 200 includes a cyber terminal 210. The user computer 200 is generally a PC. However, any type of communication means may be used as the user computer 200 as long as it can transmit/receive data. The user computer 200 can access an external Internet network in the same manner as the wired/wireless communication terminal 100.
The cyber terminal 210 is a program implemented by the user computer 200. Preferably, the cyber terminal 210 incorporates substantially the same functions as the wired/wireless communication terminal 100, except that the cyber terminal 210 has no physical form.
The wired/wireless communication server 300 provides the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 or the cyber terminal 210 with a wired/wireless communication service.
The wired/wireless communication server 300 interworks with the switch server 400 and transmits/receives information regarding the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 or the cyber terminal 210. The wired/wireless communication server 300 stores and manages information regarding the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 or the cyber terminal 210 in its own database.
The wired/wireless communication server 300 receives information regarding whether the cyber terminal 200 is turned on or off from the switch server 400 in real time. The wired/wireless communication server 300 stores the received information regarding whether the cyber terminal 200 is turned on or off.
In addition to transferring the wired/wireless communication service to the communication server 500, the wired/wireless communication server 300 directly provides the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 with the wired/wireless communication service. The communication server 500 forwards the wired/wireless communication service from the wired/wireless communication server 300 to the cyber terminal 210. This is for the purpose of enabling the communication server 500 to determine whether or not to provide the cyber terminal 210 with the wired/wireless communication service
according to whether or not the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 or the cyber terminal 210 receives the service. To this end, the wired/wireless communication server 300 stops providing the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 with the wired/wireless communication service at the request of the communication server 500.
The switch server 400 interworks with the user computer 200 and the wired/wireless communication server 300 so as to mediate the flow of information necessary to drive the cyber terminal 210.
When the user computer 200 makes a request that the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 is registered in the system according to the present invention, the switch server 400 transmits a notification of the request and information regarding the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 (e.g. the number of the wired/wireless communication terminal 100) to the wired/wireless communication server 300. When the switch server 400 receives information regarding completion of registration of the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 from the wired/wireless communication server 300, the switch server 400 composes a message containing that information and transmits it to the user computer 200.
When the user computer 200 makes a request that information regarding the cyber terminal 210 is modified (e.g. modification or cancellation of a currently subscribed service), the switch server 400 transmits a notification of the request to the wired/wireless communication server 300. When the switch server 400 receives information regarding completion of modification of the information regarding the cyber terminal 210 from the wired/wireless communication server 300, the switch server 400 composes a message regarding that information and transmits it to the user computer 200.
The communication server 500 interworks with the user computer 200 and the wired/wireless communication server 300 so as to provide the cyber terminal 210 with a wired/wireless communication service from the wired/wireless communication server 300. Particularly, the communication server 500 receives the wired/wireless communication service from the
wired/wireless communication server 300 and forwards it to the cyber terminal 210.
When the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 receives the wired/wireless communication service earlier than the cyber terminal 210 under a circumstance that lhe wired/wireless communication server 300 directly provides the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 with the wired/wireless communication service and transfers the wired/wireless communication service to the communication server 500 at the same time, the communication terminal 500 stops providing the cyber terminal 210 with the wired/wireless communication service as soon as the communication terminal 500 is informed by the wired/wireless communication server 300 that the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 has received the wired/wireless communication service. When the cyber terminal 210 receives the wired/wireless communication service earlier than the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 under the same circumstance, the communication server 500 informs the wired/wireless communication server 300 that the cyber terminal 210 has received the wired/wireless communication service and requests the wired/wireless communication server 300 to stop providing the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 with the wired/wireless communication service.
[Advantageous Effects]
The present invention is advantageous in that, even when the wired/wireless communication terminal malfunctions and fails to receive a service from the wired/wireless communication company properly, the user can still receive the service via the cyber terminal. This rids the user of the possibility that he may fail to receive the wired/wireless communication service timely and suffer damages. In addition, the wired/wireless communication business provider can gain a superior position over competitors because an increasing number of customers will subscribe to his service due to such merits.
Besides these, the present invention also has advantages described in and inferred easily from the following description of preferred embodiments of the present invention and claims, as well as potential contributions to the industry. [Description of Drawings]
The foregoing and other objects, features and advantages of the present invention will become more apparent from the following detailed description when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings in which:
FIG. 1 is a block diagram showing a cyber terminal system according to the present invention. [Best Mode]
Reference will now be made in detail to the preferred embodiments of the present invention.
A cyber terminal system according to the present invention, as shown in FIG. 1, includes a wired/wireless communication terminal 100, a user computer 200, a wired/wireless communication server 300, a switch server 400, and a communication server 500.
FIG. 1 is a block diagram showing a cyber terminal system according to the present invention. A preferred embodiment of the present invention will now be described with reference to FIG. 1. In the following description of
the present invention, a detailed description of known functions and configurations incorporated herein is omitted to avoid making the subject matter of the present invention unclear. Although a preferred embodiment of the present invention will be described for illustrative purposes, those skilled in the art will appreciate that various modifications, additions and substitutions are possible, without departing from the scope and spirit of the invention.
The wired/wireless communication terminal 100 is a conventional terminal. Particularly, the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 may be a desktop computer, but it is not limited to that. For example, the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 may be a laptop computer, a PDA (Personal Digital Assistant), a cellular phone, a PCS (Personal Communication System), or a handheld PC. The wired/wireless communication terminal 100 can access an external Internet network via a conventional modem and a PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network), a cable modem and a cable broadcasting network, a LAN card and a LAN, a LAN card and an intranet inside a company, or a communication module (chip) and a wired/wireless communication network interworking with a wireless Internet gateway.
The user computer 200 includes a cyber terminal 210. The user computer 200 is generally a PC. However, any type of communication means may be used as the user computer as long as it can transmit/receive data, such as a laptop computer, a PDA, a cellular phone, a PCS, or a handheld PC.
This is for the purpose of implementing the cyber terminal 210 together with the wired/wireless communication terminal 100, both of which constitute a pair, so that, even when the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 malfunctions and fails to
receive a service from a wired/wireless communication company properly, the user can still receive the service via the cyber terminal 210, as has been described with regard to the object of the present invention. When the functions or specifications of the cyber terminal 210 are the same as those of the wired/wireless communication terminal 100, to which the user is accustomed after repeated use, the user can fully utilize the functions of the cyber terminal 210 with little difficulty.
The wired/wireless communication server 300 provides the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 or the cyber terminal 210 with a wired/wireless communication service. The type of available wired/wireless communication services is not limited in the present invention, and they include a text transmission service, a coloring service, a lettering service, a message call service, as well as various types of services devised and provided by wired/wireless communication business providers.
This enables the wired/wireless communication server 300 to determine whether or not to provide a wired/wireless communication service according to whether the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 is switched on or off, as will be described later in more detail.
In addition to transferring the wired/wireless communication service to the communication server 500, the wired/wireless communication server 300 directly provides the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 with the
wired/wireless communication service. The communication server 500 forwards the wired/wireless communication service from the wired/wireless communication server 300 to the cyber terminal 210. This is for the purpose of enabling the communication server 500 to determine whether or not to provide the cyber terminal 210 with the wired/wireless communication service according to whether or not the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 or the cyber terminal 210 receives the service. To this end, the wired/wireless communication server 300 stops providing the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 the with wired/wireless communication service at the request of the communication server 500, as will be described later in more detail.
The switch server 400 interworks with the user computer 200 and the wired/wireless communication server 300 so as to mediate the flow of information necessary to drive the cyber terminal 210.
When the user computer 200 makes a request that the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 is registered in the cyber terminal system according to the present invention, the switch server 400 transmits a notification of the request and information regarding the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 (e.g. the number of the wired/wireless communication terminal 100) to the wired/wireless communication server 300. In addition, when the switch server 400 receives information regarding completion of registration of the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 from the wired/wireless communication server 300, the switch server 400 composes a message containing that information and transmits it to the user computer 200. This enables the user to directly confirm whether or not the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 has been registered via his own user computer 200.
When the user computer 200 makes a request that information regarding the cyber terminal 210 is modified (e.g. modification or cancellation of a currently subscribed service), the switch server 400 transmits a notification of the request to the wired/wireless communication server 300. When the switch server 400 receives information regarding completion of modification
of the information regarding the cyber terminal 210 from the wired/wireless communication server 300, the switch server 400 composes a message containing that information and transmits it to the user computer 200. This enables the user to directly confirm whether or not the information regarding the cyber terminal 210 has been modified via his own user computer 200.
The communication server 500 interworks with the user computer 200 and the wired/wireless communication server 300 so as to provide the cyber terminal 210 with the wired/wireless communication service from the wired/wireless communication server 300. Particularly, the communication server 500 receives the wired/wireless communication service from the wired/wireless communication server 300 and forwards it to the cyber terminal 210.
It will be assumed that the wired/wireless communication server 300 directly provides the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 with a wired/wireless communication service and, at the same time, transfers the wired/wireless communication service to the communication server 500. When the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 receives the service earlier than the cyber terminal 210, the communication terminal 500 stops providing the cyber terminal 210 with the wired/wireless communication service as soon as it is informed by the wired/wireless communication server 300 that the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 has received the service. When the cyber terminal 210 receives the service earlier than the wired/wireless communication terminal 100, the communication server 500 informs the wired/wireless communication server 300 that the cyber terminal 210 has received the service and requests it to stop providing the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 with the wired/wireless communication service.
The wired/wireless communication server 300, the switch server 400, and the communication server 500 cooperate with a client, which is implemented on Internet and requests a service, and a server, which processes the client request, in order to obtain results desired by the client. To this end, the servers run at least one application program in a cooperative
environment. Therefore, it can be said that the servers are conventional Internet servers adapted to provide the user terminal request via wired and wireless networks, respectively, in a client/server mode based on distributed processing.
A method for implementing a cyber terminal according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention will now be described with reference to FIG. 1.
The method for implementing a cyber terminal according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention includes the steps of (a) registering a wired/wireless communication terminal 100 or a cyber terminal 210 in a cyber terminal system according to the present invention! and (b) providing the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 or the cyber terminal 210 with a wired/wireless communication service from a wired/wireless communication server 300.
In step (a), a wired/wireless communication terminal 100 or a cyber terminal 210 is registered in a cyber terminal system according to the present invention.
Step (a) includes the steps of (al) accessing a switch server 400 by a user computer 200 so as to make a request that the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 is registered in the cyber terminal system according to the present invention; (a2) transmitting the request of the user computer 200 to the wired/wireless communication server 300 by a switch server 400; and (a3) registering the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 in the cyber terminal system according to the present invention by the wired/wireless communication server 300 and storing information regarding the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 on its own database.
In step (al), for example, the user accesses the switch server 400 by using the user computer 200, selects a "Register" function from various functions provided by the switch server 400, and inputs information regarding the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 (e.g. the number of the wired/wireless communication terminal 100).
Preferably, step (a) further includes the steps of (a4) transmitting information regarding completion of registration of the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 to the switch server 400 by the wired/wireless communication server 300; and (a5) composing a message containing information regarding completion of registration of the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 and transmitting it to the user computer 200 by the switch server 400, after step (a3). This enables the user to directly confirm whether or not the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 has been registered via his user computer 200.
In step (b), the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 or the cyber terminal 210 is provided with a wired/wireless communication service from the wired/wireless communication server 300.
Step (b) includes the steps of (bl) receiving a wired/wireless communication service request of a wired/wireless communication terminal (not shown) of another user by the wired/wireless communication server 300 and determining a wired/wireless communication service, which is to be provided to the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 or the cyber terminal 210; (b2) informing the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 or the cyber terminal 210 of the wired/wireless communication service by the wired/wireless communication server 300; and (b3) receiving the wired/wireless communication service from the wired/wireless communication server 300 by the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 or the cyber terminal 210.
Step (bl) includes the steps of (bll) receiving a wired/wireless communication service request of a wired/wireless communication terminal (not shown) of another user by the wired/wireless communication server 300; (bl2) checking what wired/wireless communication service the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 or the cyber terminal 210 can receive by the wired/wireless communication server 300; and (bl3) searching information regarding whether the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 is turned on or off and receiving information regarding the condition of the cyber
terminal 210 from the switch server 400 by the wired/wireless communication server 300.
The reason the step (bl2) of checking what wired/wireless communication service the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 or the cyber terminal 210 can receive by the wired/wireless communication server 300 is performed is that, when the user wants to receive a wired/wireless communication service from a wired/wireless communication company, he must subscribe to the service first. This is also the case in the present invention. That is to say, the user cannot receive a service from a wired/wireless communication company via the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 or the cyber terminal 210 unless he subscribes to the service.
The reason the wired/wireless communication server 300 receives information regarding the condition of the cyber terminal from the switch server 400 and receives information regarding whether the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 is switched on or off in step (bl3) is that, based on whether the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 is switched on or off, the wired/wireless communication server 300 can determine whether or not to provide the wired/wireless communication service.
In step (b2), the wired/wireless communication server 300 directly provides a wired/wireless communication service to the wired/wireless communication terminal 100, but not to the cyber terminal 210. Instead, the wired/wireless communication server 300 transmits the wired/wireless communication service to the communication server 500, which then forwards the service to the cyber terminal 210. The reason is the same as has been described with regard to the cyber terminal system, and repeated description thereof will be omitted herein.
In step (b2), when the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 is turned on, the wired/wireless communication server 300 provides the wired/wireless communication service to both the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 and the cyber terminal 210. When the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 is turned off, the wired/wireless communication
server 300 provides the service to the cyber terminal 210 only.
In step (b3), the wired/wireless communication server 300 stops providing the wired/wireless communication terminal 100 with the wired/wireless communication service at the request of the cyber terminal 210.
While this invention has been described in connection with what is presently considered to be the most practical and preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that the invention is not limited to the disclosed embodiment and the drawings, but, on the contrary, it is intended to cover various modifications and variations within the spirit and scope of the appended claims. [Industrial Applicability]
As can be seen from the foregoing, the inventive system and method implement a cyber terminal together with a wired/wireless communication terminal, both of which constitute a pair, so that the user can receive a service from a wired/wireless communication company not only via the wired/wireless communication terminal, but also via the cyber terminal. This guarantees that, even when the wired/wireless communication terminal malfunctions and fails to receive the service from the wired/wireless communication company properly, the user can still receive the service via the cyber terminal. Therefore, the present invention can be widely applied in the information communication industry with its practical and economic merits.
