Description
Description WRAP CASE WITH CUTTER AND CUTTER USED THERETO
Technical Field
[1] The present invention is related to a box containing plastic wrap, aluminum foil, waxed paper, or the like, and equipped with a cutter for easily cutting the dispensed material; more particularly, it is designed to conveniently cut the pulled-out wrap when the wrap is dispensed from the wrap box. Background Art
[2] Generally, a certain amount of wrap is wound on a cylindrical roll and contained in a rectangular wrap box. To use the wrap, most consumers open the lid of the wrap box, pull out the necessary amount of wrap, and cut it along the box edge that is outfitted with a serrated blade. Disclosure of Invention Technical Problem
[3] However, the conventional wrap cutter has a problem that the wrap is frequently ripped off, rather than cut cleanly, because the wrap is separated from the serrated blade during the cutting process. Therefore, a device is necessary that is capable of properly cutting the wrap along the edge of the wrap box. Technical Solution
[4] In order to resolve the aforementioned problem, the present invention provides a wrap box equipped with a cutter for conveniently cutting the wrap dispensed from the box. The purpose of the present invention is to provide an inexpensive and simple wrap cutter that is easy to attach to or remove from the wrap box.
[5] To achieve the objective of the present invention, a wrap box equipped with a cutter is provided comprising: a roll of wrap contained in a wrap box, an openable lid integrally attached to the wrap box, a guide rail attached along an edge of the openable lid and a detachable cutter on the guide rail, mounted such that the cutter can slide along the guide rail.
[6] The guide rail formed by folding the edge of the lid toward the inside of the wrap box is limited by both side panels to restrict the movement of the cutter and prevent the cutter from falling off of the guide rail.
[7] The guide rail is also formed by folding the edge of the lid toward the outside of the wrap box, with a stopper located at one end of the guide rail to limit the movement of the cutter, and the other end of the guide rail left open to install the cutter.
[8] The cutter is composed of a recess for inserting the guide rail, a handle for operating the cutter, and a cutting blade for severing the dispensed wrap.
[9] The recess forms a tapered inlet portion for easily snapping onto the guide rail, the cutter forming a dome for reducing the surface area in contact with the wrap.
[10] The wrap box is further comprised of a guide rail supporter, which is mated with the guide rail when the lid of the wrap box is closed, so that the wrap is supported by the guide rail supporter to easily sever the dispensed wrap.
[11] The recess forms a tapered inlet portion for easily snapping onto the guide rail, and the cutter forms an arched mounting plate with an arched cutting blade in order to expose the minimum blade.
[12] The cutter is further comprised of a flexible hinge for integrally connecting said handle and the main cutter plate. The handle is foldable when it is not in use.
[13] On the other hand, for achieving the objective of the present invention, a second embodiment of the wrap box equipped with a sliding cutting device is provided comprising: a roll of wrap contained in a wrap box, an openable lid integrally attached to the wrap box, a guide rail attached along an edge of the hinged lid, and a detachable sliding cutter on the guide rail, so that the sliding cutter can slide along the guide rail, the sliding cutter having a recess for inserting the guide rail, a handle for operating the sliding cutter, a cutting blade for severing the dispensed wrap, and the recess forming a tapered inlet portion for easily snapping onto the guide rail.
[14] The sliding cutter forms an arched mounting plate with an arched cutting blade in order to expose the minimum blade, with the cutting blade extending 0.5 mm away from the mounting plate.
Advantageous Effects
[15] As discussed so far, the present invention is designed to easily cut the dispensed wrap. It is also convenient to replace the cutter due to the adoption of the replaceable cutter. It has the advantages of a simple design configuration and lower cost.

Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention
[25] Hereinafter, a wrap box equipped with a cutter of the present invention is described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.
[26] As shown in drawings, Fig. 1 is a schematic drawing of a wrap box equipped with a cutter as an exemplary implementation. Fig. 2 is a schematic drawing showing the inside of the wrap box equipped with a cutter of the present invention. Figs. 3 and 4 are a side view and front view of a cutter that can be attached to or removed from the wrap box.
[27] As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, a wrap box equipped with a cutter of the present invention comprises a roll of wrap (W), which is wound on a cylindrical tube. A rectangular wrap box (1) is used for containing the roll of wrap. A hinged lid (2) is integrally attached to the wrap box. A guide rail (3) is attached along an edge of the hinged lid (2), and a cutter can be attached to or removed from the guide rail (3), so that the cutter can slide along the guide rail (3).
[28] A wrap box (1) further comprises a guide rail supporter, which is mated with said guide rail (3) when the lid of the wrap box is closed, so that the wrap is supported by the guide rail supporter to easily sever the dispensed wrap.
[29] Because the wrap box (1) and lid (2) are familiar items used in our daily life, the description of the box and lid will be skipped, hereby.
[30] As shown in Fig.2, a guide rail (3) is formed by folding and gluing the edge of the lid (2) toward the inside of the wrap box. Then, a cutter is snapped onto the guide rail (3) for sliding along the rail. The guide rail is limited by both side panels to restrict the movement of the cutter (5) and prevent the cutter (5) from falling off of the guide rail (3). A guide rail supporter made of a plastic or vinyl is also provided to mate with the cutting blade (5c) and the guide rail (3). Therefore, the wrap is supported by the guide rail supporter to easily sever the dispensed wrap.
[31] As shown in Figs. 3 and 4, the cutter (5) further comprises a recess (5a) for inserting to the guide rail (3), a handle (5b) for operating the cutter, and a cutting blade (5c) for severing the dispensed wrap.
[32] A wrap box can be sold without installing such a cutter in the guide rail (3).
However, a consumer can snap the cutter (5) onto the guide rail (3), when the wrap box
is ready to use.
[33] Further, the recess (5a) is formed with a tapered inlet portion (5g) for easily snapping onto the guide rail (3). Thus, the consumer can simply snap the cutter (5) onto the guide rail (3). To minimize the resistance while the cutter (5) is running along the guide rail (3), the cutter (5) forms a dome (5d) above the cutting blade (5c) for reducing the amount of surface area in contact with the wrap.
[34] The cutting blade (5c), made of metal, is sequentially fixed to the dome (5d) of the cutter (5). However, the cutting blade (5c) and the dome of the cutter are integrally formed by an injection molding to increase the material strength.
[35] As described so far, the wrap dispensed from the box (1) is properly placed between the guide rail (3) and the guide rail supporter. Then, the cutter (5) can be simply run along the guide rail (3) to sever the dispensed wrap.
[36] Such a simple operation can achieve a neat cut without wasting the wrap. In addition, because the guide rail (3) is formed by folding the edge of the lid (2) and the cutter (5) is integrally formed by an ejecting process, it is possible to reduce the product cost.
[37] Further, the cutter (5) is also removable, thus the consumer can simply snap out the cutter (5) from the guide rail (3). Therefore, it could be reusable for the next box by simply snapping the cutter (5) onto the guide rail (3). Mode for the Invention
[38] As shown in Fig. 5, a schematic drawing of a wrap box equipped with a cutter of the second embodiment is presented. In the second embodiment, the description for components that are identical to those of the first embodiment, and which are given the same numerical reference numbers, will be omitted, hereby.
[39] According to Fig. 5, a wrap box equipped with a sliding cutter of the second embodiment comprises: a roll of wrap (W) contained in a wrap box (11), a hinged lid (12) integrally attached to the wrap box, a guide rail (13) attached along an edge of the hinged lid (12), a guide rail supporter (14) located underneath the guide rail (13), and a sliding cutter (5) that is attachable to the guide rail (13), so that the sliding cutter can slide along the guide rail (13).
[40] Similarly to the first embodiment, since the wrap box (11) and lid (12) is commonly used in our daily life, the description of the box and lid will be skipped, hereby.
[41] The guide rail (13) can be formed by folding and gluing the edge of the lid (12) toward the outside of the wrap box. Thus, the cutter (5) is able to snap onto and travel along the guide rail (13). A stopper (13a) is located at one end of the guide rail (13) to limit the movement of the cutter (5), while the other end of the guide rail (13) is left open to allow installation of the cutter (5). With this configuration, a consumer can
easily set the cutter (5) onto the guide rail (13).
[42] The guide rail supporter (14) is also located underneath the guide rail (13) and the cutter (5), so that the cutting blade can properly cut the dispensed wrap while it is sliding along the guide rail (13). The guide rail supporter (14) is generally made of a plastic or vinyl to neatly perform the cutting process.
[43] The cutter (5) has an identical configuration to the first embodiment, thus the detailed explanation of the cutter (5) of the second embodiment will be skipped, hereby.
[44] Figs. 6 to 9 show another wrap box with a cutter of the third embodiment. Fig. 6 is a schematic drawing of a cutter adapted to the third embodiment. Figs. 7 and 8 are a side view and front view of the cutter, which can be attached to or removed from the wrap box of the third embodiment. Fig. 9 shows the operation of the cutter of the third embodiment during the cutting process. In the third embodiment, the description for components that are identical to those of the first embodiment, and which are used the same numerical reference numbers, will be omitted, hereby.
[45] According to Figs. 6 to 9, a sliding cutter (25) of the third embodiment comprises a main portion (25f), a recess (25a) for inserting the guide rail (3, 13), a handle (25b) for operating the sliding cutter and a blade mounting plate (25d).
[46] The recess (25a) is formed with a tapered inlet portion (25g) for easily snapping into the guide rail (3, 13). The sliding cutter (25) forms an arched mounting plate (25d) with an arched cutting blade (25c) for exposing the minimum amount of the blade.
[47] Accordingly, due to the semi-circular shape of the blade (25c) and cutter mounting plate as seen in Fig. 9, the cutter (25) will properly cut the dispensed wrap (W) no matter how it is tilted. Therefore, this shape of the cutter effectively performs the cutting even though the user is unaware that the cutter is at an angle.
[48] A flexible hinge (25e) is adopted for integrally connecting the handle (25b) and main cutter plate (25f). The handle (25b) is also designed to fold away when it is not in use. As shown with the dotted lines in Fig. 8, the handle (25b) is folded when it is stored or carried.
[49] Accordingly, the sliding cutter (25) of the third embodiment comprises a recess
(25a) for inserting the guide rail (3), a handle (25b) for operating the sliding cutter, an arched cutting blade (25c), a tapered inlet portion (25g) for easily snapping onto the guide rail (3, 13) and a blade mounting plate (25d).
[50] The sliding cutter (25) forms an arched mounting plate (25d) with an arched cutting blade (25c) for exposing the minimum amount of the blade.
[51] The cutting blade (25c) extends only about 0.5 mm from the mounting plate (25d).
This amount of blade exposure is safe not to hurt the consumer's finger even though a consumer may accidentally touch the blade.
[52] According to the present invention, the wrap pulled from the box (11) is properly placed between the guide rail (13) and the guide rail supporter. Then, the cutter (5) can slide along the guide rail (13) to cut the dispensed wrap.
[53] Such a simple operation allows the user to neatly cut the wrap without wasting any.
The guide rail (3) is formed by folding the edge of the lid (2). The cutter (5) is integrally formed by an ejecting process. Thereby it is possible to reduce the product cost.
[54] Furthermore, the cutter (5) is removable, so the consumer can simply snap out the cutter (5) from the guide rail (13). Therefore, it could be reusable for the next wrap box by simply snapping the cutter (5) onto the guide rail (3).
[55] According to the cutter of the third embodiment, the handle (25b) of the cutter (25) is foldable, even when it is inserted into the guide rail. Therefore, it will not occupy space when it is carried or stored. Due to the arched mounting plate (25d) and cutting blade (25c), the sliding cutter (25) has a merit to properly cut the wrap in any tilted situation and save the cutting blade from unwanted wear.
