Description
Description
COVER FOR COOKING VESSEL
Technical Field
[1] The present invention relates to a cover for all kinds of cooking/frying vessels or the like that can prevent the contents in the cooking/frying vessels from being overflowed, and more particularly, to a cover for a cooking vessel that is provided with an overflowing-preventing means formed on a grip thereof, thereby preventing the contents contained in the vessel from being overflowed when the vessel is heated, such that safety accidents occurring during the use of heating devices like gas oven ranges can be prevented, the soiling of the heating devices or the cover generated due to the overflowing of the contents from the cooking vessel can also be prevented.
[2] The present invention relates to a cover for a cooking vessel that can prevent the contents in the cooking vessel from being overflowed, thereby improving the assem- blability and operability, making the cleaning easy to keep the cover at a clean state, and developing its functionality as a bubble-blocking plate is mounted therein.
[3]
Background Art
[4] So as to cook or sterilize food, clothes, nursing bottles, or the like, the contents are first put in a vessel, and then, the cover of the vessel is placed to seal the vessel. Next, the contents in the vessel are heated by means of a heating means like gas oven ranges or microwave ovens. At this time, if the heating is over a given temperature, the contents are overflowed from the vessel by the action of the steam generated in the vessel, which makes the heating means soiled with the overflowed contents and even causes the safety accidents related to the heating means to happen. Thus, a steam vent is generally formed on the cover of the cooking vessel for exhausting the steam from the cooking vessel.
[5] However, the conventional steam vent formed on the cover of the vessel is relatively small such that the steam generated when the contents boil are not exhausted gently, and further, the cover is fluctuated by the steam pressure such that noises are generated or the contents are overflowed through the gap formed when the cover is moved. To prevent the overflowing of the contents, thus, users separate the cover from the vessel at a time of boiling the contents in the vessel. If the cover is separated, however, the internal steam is drastically exhausted to make the heating time of the contents more long. To overcome the above-mentioned inconveniences, thus, various means have been already proposed, but most of them are not practical in use. Thus, there is a need for development of novel means for completely solving the con-
ventional problems.
[6] Thus, the improvements on the cover for a cooking vessel have been introduced in
Korean Utility Model Registration Nos. 20-0359497, 20-0366300, 20-0366310, 20-0368226, and 20-0369011 filed by the same applicant as in the present invention.
[7] In the prior arts, the cover for a cooking vessel is formed in such a manner where an automatic opening/closing member is adapted to be opened by using a restoring force of a shape memory alloy and a magnetic force of a permanent magnet when a temperature is raised, thereby preventing the contents in the vessel from being overflowed.
[8] In the prior arts, however, a grip and a fixing plate are tightly closed at the upper and lower sides of a through-hole formed on a cover body and then fixed by a fixing means like a piece, and other parts are assembled at the inside of the grip. As a result, a hole for the fixing means should be additionally formed, and the fixing means should be mounted on the cover body turned over, which of course makes the operability greatly low. Furthermore, the cleaning for the internal grip is needed after the fixing means is separated by using a tool, but actually, most of users keep the use without any cleaning, which of course makes the cover itself dirty.
[9] In the prior arts, since the automatic opening/closing member is operated by means of an adjusting member or a sliding stopper formed on the grip, it is difficult for a user to easily check the operating state thereof.
[10] Additionally, in case of the contents having large bubbles, the covers disclosed in the prior arts do not have high efficiency in preventing the contents from being overflowed. Disclosure of Invention
Technical Problem
[11] Accordingly, the present invention has been made to solve the above-mentioned problems occurring in the prior art, and it is an object of the present invention to provide a cover for a cooking vessel that is provided with steam vents formed on a grip fixed in the middle zone of a cover body and an ascending/descending means mounted at the inside of the grip for exhausting the steam from the cooking vessel, wherein the ascending/descending means is formed of a shape memory alloy that is automatically extended or returned according to the variation of temperature, thereby preventing the contents put in the vessel from being overflowed when the cooking vessel is heated, such that the soiling of the heating devices or the cover generated due to the overflowing of the contents from the cooking vessel can also be prevented, and safety accidents occurring during the use of heating devices like gas oven ranges can also be prevented.
[12] It is another object of the present invention to provide a cover for a cooking vessel that can just couple a grip formed on the upper side of a cover body and a fixing plate formed on the lower side of the cover body, that can have a grip structure separable into upper and lower parts, such that the assemblability is relatively high and the cleaning of the inside parts is done with ease, and that can couple an automatic opening/closing member with an adjusting member by means of a pin, thereby achieving the operation in rapid and accurate ways.
[13] It is still another object of the present invention to provide a cover for a cooking vessel that is provided with a bubble-blocking plate formed at the lower side of the cover body, for suppressing the overflowing of bubbles generated from the contents in the cooking vessel. Technical Solution
[14] To accomplish the above object, according to the present invention, there is provided a cover for a cooking vessel including: a grip formed on the upper side of a cover body of the cooking vessel, the cover body having a generally round through- hole formed at a center zone thereof; a fixing plate formed on the lower side of the cover body in such a manner as to be coupled with the grip by means of a fixing means, the fixing plate having a seating recess formed integrally at the center zone thereof; a shape memory alloy disposed in the seating recess in such a manner as to be expanded or restored in response to the variation of temperature; steam vents formed at the both sides of the grip; an automatic opening/closing member adapted to be inserted into an ascending/descending hole at the inside of the grip and having a cover plate formed integrally with a packing formed around the outer periphery thereof for sealing the through-hole; a restoring spring disposed along the outer periphery of the top side of the automatic opening/closing member; an adjusting member screw-coupled to a screw groove formed at the upper end of the ascending and descending hole for pressurizing the restoring spring; and a grip cover coupled with a plurality of protrusions formed on the top side of the grip for preventing the adjusting member from being deviated from the screw groove.

[30] FIG. 1 is a separate perspective view showing a cover for a cooking vessel according to a first embodiment of the present invention, FIG.2 is a sectional view showing the assembling state of the cover for a cooking vessel according to the present invention, FIG.3 is a sectional view showing a state before an automatic opening/ closing member works, and FIG.4 is a sectional view showing a state where the automatic opening/closing member is moved upward. Referring to these figures, an explanation of the construction of the cover for a cooling vessel according to the present invention will be given.
[31] According to the preferred embodiment of the present invention, there is provided a cover 1 for a cooking vessel that forms a generally round through-hole 2a in the middle zone of a cover body 2. A grip 3 is disposed over the through-hole 2a formed on the cover body 2 and is fixed with the cover body 2 by means of a fixing means 10 like pieces. At this time, the grip 3 is fixed together with a fixing plate 5 as shown in FIGS.4 and 5 by means of the fixing means 10.
[32] The grip 3 is provided with steam vents 12 formed at the both sides thereof and a plurality of protrusions 3a formed on the top side thereof in such a manner as to be coupled with a grip cover 4. Further, the grip 3 is provided with a screw groove 13 formed along the inner periphery of the upper end thereof in such a manner as to make an adjusting member 7 moved upwardly and downwardly therealong and with an ascending/descending hole 14 formed at the lower end of the inside thereof in such a manner as to make an automatic opening/closing member 6 moved upwardly and downwardly.
[33] The automatic opening/closing member 6 is further provided with a projection 6b formed at the top end thereof for elastically supporting a restoring spring 8 thereon, with a round packing 15 formed along the rim of the bottom end thereof, and with a cover plate 6a formed integrally therewith for sealing the through-hole 2a.
[34] The fixing plate 5 is further provided with a plurality of through-holes formed in the middle zone thereof and with a seating recess 11 formed integrally at the center zone thereof in such a manner as to make a shape memory alloy 9 that is expanded or returned to its original shape in response to the variation of temperature at the inside of the cooking vessel moved upwardly and downwardly.
[35] The shape memory alloy 9 is formed of a nickel and titanium alloy that is expanded
if heated over a given transformation temperature and is returned to its original shape if reaches the given transformation temperature, such that as it is expanded or returned in response to the varied temperature, the automatic opening/closing member 6 becomes moved upwardly or downwardly.
[36] If the automatic opening/closing member 6 is not to be automatically moved upwardly and downwardly, that is, if a relatively long boiling time is needed, for example, if contents like rice are put into a vessel, the adjusting member 7 is adjusted in the screw groove 13 formed at the inner periphery of the top end of the grip 3 in s uch a manner as to abut against the top portion of the automatic opening/closing member 6, thereby making the automatic opening/closing member 6 fixed to prevent the steam from being exhausted to the outside.
[37] FIG.8 is an exploded perspective view showing a cover for a cooking vessel according to still another embodiment of the present invention, and FIGS.8a, 8b and 9 are sectional views of FIG.8 showing the operating states of the automatic opening/ closing member 6 and the adjusting member 7.
[38] According to the preferred embodiment of the present invention, there is provided a cover 1 for a cooking vessel that forms a generally round through-hole 2a in the middle zone of a cover body 2. A support plate 30 with a grip 3 mounted thereon is formed on the upper side of the cover body 2 in such a manner as to be screw-coupled with a fixing plate 5 coupled at the lower side of the cover body 2. The fixing plate 5 has a screw portion 5a formed along the outer periphery of the top end thereof and the support plate 30 forms a screw hole 30a at one side thereof, and the fixing plate 5 further has cut portions 5c formed at the both sides of the screw portion 5a in such a manner as to communicate with steam vents 12 formed at the both sides of the support plate 30. The support plate 30 has an ascending/descending hole 14 formed at the inside thereof. In this case, preferably, the grip 3 and the support plate 30 are screw- coupled with each other in such a manner as to be separated into upper and lower parts, which enables the assemblability to be high.
[39] The fixing plate 5 forms a seating recess 11 at the top side of the center zone thereof, for inserting a shape memory alloy 9 thereinto and further forms steam exhaust through-holes 5b at the both sides of the seating recess 11, for moving the steam within the cooking vessel toward the support plate 30.
[40] An automatic opening/closing member 6 with a cover plate 6a adapted to seal the steam exhaust through-holes 5b is insertably fitted to the ascending/descending hole 14 formed on the support plate 30 in such a manner as to be moved upwardly and downwardly by means of the shape memory alloy 9 expandable and contractible according to the variation of temperature. At this time, the ascending/descending hole 14 and the automatic opening/closing member 6 have a groove 14a and a protrusion 6b
formed in a vertical direction thereof in such a manner as to guide the upward and downward movements of the automatic opening/closing member 6, and a packing 15 is formed along the rim of the cover plate 6a.
[41] The grip 3 that is screw-coupled with the support plate 30 has the ascending/ descending hole 14 extended from the top end portion of the support plate 30 such that the automatic opening/closing member 6 is insertably mounted in the ascending/ descending hole 14. Further, the grip 3 has a locking protrusion 3b formed along the top end periphery of the ascending/descending hole 14, and a restoring spring 8 is placed between the automatic opening/closing member 6 and the locking protrusion 3b such that the automatic opening/closing member 6 can easily return to its original shape. The elastic force of the restoring spring 8 is preferably weaker than the expanding force of the shape memory alloy 9.
[42] An adjusting member 7 with a locking protrusion 7a facing the locking protrusion
3b of the grip 3 is formed on the top end of the automatic opening/closing member 6 in such a manner as to be fixed by means of a pin 31 to the automatic opening/closing member 6, and the pin 31 is movable along an operating hole 32 formed on the outer periphery of the automatic opening/closing member 6. The operating hole 32 includes an inclined portion 32a and horizontal locking portions 32b formed at the upper and lower sides of the inclined portion 32a, such that the adjusting member 7 can be fixed at the top or bottom dead point of the automatic opening/closing member 6.
[43] Additionally, a bubble-blocking plate 33 is formed at the lower side of the fixing plate 5, provided with a fixing ring 33a formed of silicon in such a manner as to be fit to the fixing plate 5 and with a net screen 33b coupled along the fixing ring 33 a.
[44] FIG.13 is a sectional view showing a state of using the cover for the cooking vessel according to the present invention, wherein the bubble-blocking plate 33 is additionally disposed at the bottom end of the cover body 2 such that the fixing ring 33a fixing the net screen 33b comes into contact with the bottom end rim of the cover body 2.
[45] According to the preferred embodiments of the present invention, the shape memory alloy 9 is described as an ascending/descending means for the automatic opening/closing member 6, but instead of that, a permanent magnet that is changed in its physical properties according to the variation of temperature may be employed as the ascending/descending means.
[46] The cooking vessel is indicated by a reference numeral 23 not explained above.
[47] First, the contents like food to be cooked, clothes, nursing bottles, and so on are put in the cooking vessel 23, and after the cover 1 is placed on the top portion of the cooking vessel 23, the cooking vessel 23 is heated by a heating device like gas oven ranges or microwave ovens. As the internal temperature in the cooking vessel 23 is raised, the steam generated in the cooking vessel 23 is exhausted through the both
sides of the grip 3 fixed on the upper side of the cover body 2. As the temperature in the cooking vessel 23 is raised, the shape memory alloy 9 that is disposed at the seating recess 11 is expanded to ascend the automatic opening/closing member 6 that is slidable into the ascending/descending hole 14 at the inside of the grip 3. At this time, the cover plate 6a that is formed integrally at the bottom end of the automatic opening/ closing member 6 for sealing the through-hole 2a of the cover body 2 is raised, such that the steam in the cooking vessel 23 is exhausted through the through-hole 2a and the steam vents 12 to the air, thereby preventing the contents in the cooking vessel 23 from being overflowed.
[48] The shape memory alloy 9 is expanded, if heated, and at this time, the elastic strength of the shape memory alloy 9 is higher than that of the restoring spring 8, such that the automatic opening/closing member 6 becomes moved upwardly.
[49] If the internal temperature becomes low after cooking or sterilizing, the shape memory alloy 9 returns to its original shape, such that the automatic opening/closing member 6 becomes moved downwardly by the elastic strength of the restoring spring 8. Thereby, the cover plate 6a with the round packing 15 attached thereto comes into close contact with the through-hole 2a, thereby sealing the cooking vessel 23.
[50] On the other hand, if the contents should be heated at a relatively high temperature for a long time, the adjusting member 7 is adjusted in the screw groove 13 formed at the inner periphery of the top end of the grip 3 in such a manner as to abut against the top portion of the automatic opening/closing member 6, thereby preventing the automatic opening/closing member 6 from being moved upwardly. Thus, in a state where the cover plate 6a comes into close contact with the through-hole 2a, the cooking vessel 23 is sealed, thereby keeping the contents heated.
[51] If the cover for the cooking vessel has such the structure as shown in FIGS.7 and
11, the steam is exhausted in the same manner as mentioned above and further, there are some advantages in that the assembling process of the grip 3 and the internal c leaning thereof are very conducted in easy and simple ways. In case of heating the contents in the cooking vessel 23 made under the above structure, the automatic opening/closing member 6 firstly serves to keep the steam exhaust through-holes 5b formed on the fixing plate 5 closed by means of the action of the elastic force of the restoring spring 8 mounted at the grip side.
[52] At this state, if the internal temperature of the cooking vessel 23 is raised, the shape memory alloy 9 is expanded to push the automatic opening/closing member 6 upwardly, such that the steam exhaust through-holes 5b are opened.
[53] At this time, since the protrusion 6b and the groove 14a are respectively formed on the automatic opening/closing member 6 and the ascending/descending hole 14, the automatic opening/closing member 6 moves in a vertical direction thereof in such a
manner as to pressurize the restoring spring 8 that is placed between the automatic opening/closing member 6 and the locking protrusion 3b of the grip 3.
[54] On the other hand, as the automatic opening/closing member 6 is raised, the steam exhaust through-holes 5b are opened such that the steam in the cooking vessel 23 is exhausted through the steam exhaust through-holes 5b toward the steam vents 12 formed at the both sides of the support plate 30. The shape memory alloy 9 that pushes the automatic opening/closing member 6 upwardly returns to its original shape, if cooled. At this time, the elastic force of the restoring spring 8 helps the automatic opening/closing member 6 rapidly returning to its original shape.
[55] According to the cover for the cooking vessel of this invention, the opening/closing of the automatic opening/closing member 6 is selected by the kinds of contents in the cooking vessel, which makes it convenient to use.
[56] That is to say, if contents are selected to rapidly exhaust the steam from the cooking vessel, the adjusting member 9 is moved downwardly to exhaust the steam in the same manner as mentioned above, and in case where the contents like sweet potatoes, potatoes, rice, and so on are selected to extend the cooking time, the adjusting member 9 is moved upwardly. So as to move the adjusting member 9, the adjusting member 9 is turned such that the pin 31 that is disposed at the operating hole 32 of the automatic opening/closing member 6 is moved to the upper side horizontal locking portion 32a along the inclined portion 32a of the operating hole 32. At this time, the locking protrusion 7a formed on the adjusting member 7 is moved at a position close to the locking protrusion 3b of the grip 3, and even though the shape memory alloy 9 is expanded by the raised temperature, the automatic opening/closing member 6 is further not moved upwardly by means of the locking protrusion 7a of the adjusting member 7, thereby preventing the steam from being exhausted.
[57] In case where the bubble-blocking plate 33 is additionally disposed at the lower side of the fixing plate 5 or at the bottom rim of the cover body 2, it is advantageous to the contents like noodles having lots of bubbles when boiled. In other words, the bubbles generated from the contents are passed through the net screen 33b of the bubble- blocking plate 33 and thus changed into steam. As a result, the steam reaches the steam exhaust through-holes 5b, thereby solving the existing problem that the cover is generally opened when the bubbles are generated, while maintaining the operability of this invention.
[58] On the other hand, since the support plate 30 and the fixing plate 5 that are disposed at the upper and lower sides of the cover body 2 and the grip 3 that is disposed at the top side of the support plate 30 are directly assembled by means of screw-coupling, the support plate 30, the fixing plate 5, and the grip 3 are easily assembled or disassembled during the use, such that the automatic opening/closing member 6 mounted in them can
be cleaned with ease. [59]
