Description

Description GAME DEVICE HOUSING WITH UPPER COVER Technical Field
[1] The present invention relates to a game device housing and more particularly to a game device with openable upper cover wherein the upper cover is being opened and closed in the upward and downward direction and a display unit is located on the upper surface of the upper cover. Background Art
[2] The conventional game device housing has main body 100 in which game device hardware including electronic and mechanical components is contained. A display unit 120 for enabling users to visually recognize the game contents is mounted on top of the main body 100. A speaker for enabling users to acoustically recognize the game contents is attached to one side of the main body 100. A front door 110 is provided in the front side of the main body 100. (Fig. 1)
[3] When the conventional game device is out of order, for example, a repairman has to fix or repair the problematic component through the opened front door 110. After the repairs the front door 110 has to be closed before the operation of the game device.
[4] However, in a majority of game devices, in order to allow game users to look down the display unit on the main body, the height of the game device is relatively low. Therefore the front door 110 provided in the main body 100 is usually located below the height of the knees of users. When the repairman repairs the game device through the opened front door 110 provided in the main body 100 he has to sit down on his knees and often feels very uncomfortable. In addition, since the light from the light source on the wall or ceiling does not reach inside the main body 100 of the game device, a separate light source is necessary for efficient job of the repairman. Disclosure of Invention Technical Problem
[5] The present invention is provided to remove theose above-identified problems of the conventional game device. The purpose of the present invention is to provide a game device housing with openable upper cover that allows the repairman or engineer to work on the game device in a comfortable posture. Technical Solution
[6] A game device housing of the present invention comprises a main body containing game device hardware and an upper cover rotatably mounted on the main body. The upper cover is being opened and closed in the upward and downward direction and a display unit is mounted on the upper surface of the upper cover. [7] Preferably, the game device of the present invention further comprises a shock absorber connected between the upper cover and the main body.
[8] In addition, the game device of the present invention further comprises a cooling fan or grip mounted on the side of the main body. Advantageous Effects
[9] With the game device of the present invention, the repairman or engineer can work on the game device in a very comfortable posture without any separate light source for repairs when he needs to install game device hardware into the main body or when he need to repair problematic components. Brief Description of the Drawings [10] Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a game device housing of front door type of the prior art. [11] Fig. 2 is a perspective view of a game device housing of the present invention wherein the upper cover is closed. [12] Fig. 3 is a perspective view of a game device housing of the present invention wherein the upper cover is open. [13] Fig. 4 is an enlarged view of the portion "A" of Fig. 3.
[14] * Reference numbers in the drawings *

[16] 120, 220: display unit 210: upper cover
[17] 230: grip 240: cooling fan
[18] 250: shock absorber 260: game device hardware Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention [19] Hereinafter an exemplary embodiment of the present invention will be describe with reference to the accompanied drawings. Same reference number shall be used for the same or equivalent component in the drawings. [20] Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the game device housing with openable upper cover according to the present invention wherein the upper cover is closed. [21] The game device housing of the present invention has a main body 200 containing game device hardware 260, and an upper cover 210 rotatably mounted on the main body to be opened and closed in the upward and downward direction. A display unit 220 is mounted on the upper surface of the upper cover 210 so that users may be able to visually recognize the game process. The upper cover 210 upwardly or downwardly moves together with the display unit 220. [22] Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the game device housing of the present invention wherein the upper cover is open and Fig. 4 is an enlarged view of the portion "A" of Fig. 3. [23] When the upper cover 210 is opened by an external force the display unit 220 mounted on the upper surface of the upper cover 210 is opened together. In the opened position the game device hardware 260 and the backside of the display unit 220 (i.e. the rear side opposite to the front side through which visible light radiates. Preferably the upper end of the upper cover 210 is connected to the upper end of the main body 200 so that the upper cover 210 can be opened by lifting up its lower end.
[24] The game device hardware 260 includes a dedicated electronic circuit board for arcade games or a universal computer. The game device hardware may further comprise other conventional electronic or mechanical components that could be contained in the main body 200 of the game device housing. Preferably the game device hardware 260 and especially the dedicated game board or computer should be arranged so that electric components such as connectors and wires are directly shown by the repairman in order to allow the repairman to easily fix the malfunctioning components when he opens the upper cover 210. When the upper cover 210 is open, the electronic connectors and wires that were normally located under the rear surface of the upper cover begins to shown upwardly and to directly face the repairman to let the repairman easily do his job in a comfortable standing manner.
[25] A shock absorber 250 is provided between the upper cover 210 and the main body 200 of the game device housing. One end of the shock absorber 250 is fixed to the main body 200 and the other end is fixed to the upper cover 210. The shock absorber 250 maintains the upper cover 210 in its open state when the upper cover 210 is opened by an external force and it also prevents damages of the game device hardware 260 and the main body 200 by its inherent shock absorbing function at the time of opening or closing the upper cover 210.
[26] A cooling fan provided on one or more sides of the main body 200 of the game device housing works to exhaust heats generated by a long run usage of the game device hardware 260 and the display unit 220.
[27] A grip 230 can be provided on one or more sides of the main body of the game device housing so that one can easily move the game device one place to another. Mode for the Invention
[28] Although the present invention has been explained with reference to the drawings, the present invention shall not be limited by the above-explained embodiments. Various modifications can be accomplished by those skilled in the art without departing from the scope of the present invention defined by the appended claims. For example, the mechanical mechanism of the present invention can be applied to any kinds of game device or game device housing that has display unit in its upper cover. The upper cover design may be modified, without departing from the scope of the pre sent invention, to have other components necessary for normal game device such as coin insert, bill insert, LED indication lamp, etc. Industrial Applicability [29] According to the present invention, the repairman or engineer can work on the game device in a very comfortable posture without any separate light source for repairs when he needs to install game device hardware into the main body or when he need to repair problematic components.
