Abstract

An apparatus and method for detecting the speed of an elevator car in a machine roomless elevator system. An analog to digital converter (63) converts a delected voltage of the counter electromotive force (61) of a synchronouds motor (50). The value is compared with a speed table (64) to determine the speed.
