Claims

The operation of the network system for an office •gateway connected with a card reader is explained below. A manager of a place of business connects the power line communication line of the card reader 101 capable of carrying out power line communication to AC power and couples the communication line 109 to a telephone line so as to complete installation of the card reader 101. Then, the manager arranges a plurality of power line communication home appliances 301 and robbery-prevention sensors 303. Here, each of the power line communication home appliances 301 and robbery-prevention sensors 303 has its specific code information, and the manager inputs this specific code information through the key input unit 107 of the card reader 101. Communication number information can be terminal number information of the manager, to which a warning message is sent in case of emergency and, if required, it can be number information of a robbery- prevention sensor or a police office. When the card reader 101 is initially installed, remote control information for remotely controlling the power line communication home appliances 301 is provided in advance. This remote control information is stored in the memory 211. Preferably, the remote control information is composed of key button signals of the manager's terminal and the specific code information is made of numerical information. In the case where the specific code information of a gas cutoff is "028" and, among -the remote control information provided in advance, remote control information corresponding to ON/OFF is "20/67", for instance, control information such as "*028#67*" is transmitted to the card reader 101 through the key buttons of the manager's terminal 307 when the gas cutoff needs to be turned off by the manager. In this manner, the gas cutoff that carries out power line communication with the card reader 101 is controlled. Here, λ*' and #' are identifiers for safely performing remote control of home appliances . The control information is transmitted from the manager's terminal 307 to be inputted to the card reader 101 via the telephone office network 305. The central control unit 221 of the card reader 101 analyzes the information inputted through a communication port 225 and recognizes it as a signal for remote control. Specifically, the central control unit 221 detects input of the identifier λ *' corresponding to remote control and receives the code 028' and *#' following the identifier **' to judge whether or not the specific code information is inputted according to a normal code input rule. Then, the central control unit 221 enables the memory 211 to be provided with specific code information previously stored in the memory. The central control unit 211 recognizes a home appliance 301 to be remotely controlled on the basis of the specific code information provided by the memory 211 and, when the specific code information is not set to the memory 211, transmits an error message to the manager's terminal 307. Then, the central control unit 221 receives the code Λ 67' that follows the identifier λ#' to judge whether or not code information corresponding to the identifier '#' is stored in the memory 211 and analyzes remote control information corresponding to the code information according to the judgement result. The central control unit 221 transmits the specific code information and remote control information to a communication controller 207 of the communication control unit 227. The communication controller 207 encodes the specific code information and remote control information according to a predetermined communication protocol. In addition, the communication controller 207 enables the modulator 209 to modulate the specific code information and remote control information into predetermined frequency bands and provide them to the line driver 203. The line driver 203 detects a zero voltage state from the power line coupling circuit 201 and transmits the specific code information and remote control information to the power line 309 when the zero voltage state is detected. The specific code information and remote control information are delivered to the multiple power line communication home appliances 301 through the power line 309. Here, each of the power line communication home appliances 301 and robbery-prevention sensors 303 has its communication module and specific code information. Each communication module judges whether or not the specific code information inputted through the power line 309 is identical to specific code information recognizable by the communication module. In the case where the specific code information inputted through the power line 309 is identical to the specific code information recognizable by the communication module, the power line communication home appliance 301 connected with the communication module, gas cutoff, for example, is turned on. Here, the communication module informs the central control unit 221 that it has received the specific code information to carry out hand shaking between the communication module and the central control unit 221. When the central control unit 221 recognizes completion of hand shaking, it transmits the remote control information to the corresponding communication module through the communication control = unit 227 to turn off the gas cutoff . While the power line communication home appliances 301 are remotely controlled through the communication line 109 in this embodiment of the present invention, two-way remote control as well as one-way remote control can be carried out. That is, it is possible to encode the operation result or current state information of each of the power line communication home appliances 301 and inform the manager's terminal of it. Specifically, the central control unit 221 enables the communication modules of the power line communication home appliance 301 at a specific time interval to . receive current state information, for instance, the opened/closed state of the gas cutoff and the current operation state of a home appliance, and store it in the memory 211. The manager terminal 307 connects with the card reader 101 to recognize the operation state of each of the power line communication home appliances 301. The disaster-prevention function of the card reader capable of carrying out power line communication has been described above. Now, the robbery-prevention function of the card reader according to the present invention is explained. The plurality of robbery-prevention sensors 303 or radio robbery-prevention sensor 313 are installed at a plurality of points of a place of business. Each of the robbery-prevention sensor 303 or radio robbery-prevention sensor 313 has its communication module and specific code information. The same communication module and specific code information can be provided to the same kind of robbery-prevention sensors. For instance, magnetic sensors that are set on a plurality of windows to sense opening of the windows can be provided with the same communication module and specific code so as to reduce the number of communication bits. The memory 211 stores communication number information and a warning message for the robbery-prevention function of the card reader and holds specific code information required for communication with each robbery-prevention sensor 303. As described above, the communication number information is a receiving number used for informing the manager terminal, a police station or 119 of emergency, and the warning message is transmitted to the communication number. Accordingly, the warning message can be digital audio information or text information. It is digital audio information in this embodiment. The multiple robbery-prevention sensors 303 also carry out power line communication. For this, the communication module of each robbery-prevention sensor 303 is connected with the power line 309. When the card reader 101 is set to its robbery-prevention mode, the central control unit 221 checks the robbery-prevention sensors 303 at a predetermined time interval to detect whether or not each sensor is in its normal state. The radio robbery-prevention sensor 313 performs RF radio communication and transmits detected information to the RF receiver 231 of the card reader 101 through RF. The RF receiver 231 receives a signal of a predetermined frequency band and the demodulator 233 extracts specific code information modulated into the frequency band from the signal. The signal shaping unit 235 shapes the specific code information. The A/D converter 237 converts the shaped signal into a digital signal and sends the digital signal to the communication controller 207. The communication controller 207 receives the specific code information to recognize external intrusion or illegal intrusion into a predetermined position. When -one of the plurality of robbery-prevention sensors 303 and radio robbery-prevention sensor 313 operates according to illegal intrusion into a place of business, the communication module of the corresponding robbery-prevention sensor outputs a signal detected from the sensor together with its specific code information. The detected signal can be a human body detection signal according to thermal infrared rays, a switching signal caused by opening or closing of a door without permission or a temperature detection signal according to a variation in the indoor temperature . The communication module transmits the specific code information and the detected signal to the communication control unit 227 on the basis of a predetermined power line communication protocol or RF radio communication protocol . The communication control unit 227 provides the specific code information and detected signal received from the demodulator 205 or RF demodulator 233 to the central control unit 221 as coded information. The central control unit 221 judges whether or not data corresponding to the specific code information exists in the memory 211. When the central control unit judges that the specific code information is stored in the memory 211, it receives the detected signal. Respective receiving of the detected signal and specific code information reduces an error rate of the corresponding communication module. In the case where the communication module transmits the specific code information and provides the detected signal, the central control unit 221 recognizes it as the normal operation of the communication module and intrusion from the outside. Accordingly, " when only one of the specific code information and detected signal is inputted to the central control unit 221, the central control unit recognizes it as an error in the communication module. The central control unit 211 recognizes intrusion from the outside only when both of the specific code information and detected signal are inputted thereto. In the meantime, in the case where the central control unit 221 recognizes intrusion, it fetches communication number information previously stored in the memory 211 and enables the communication port 225 to carry out communication connection with the manager terminal 307 or a police office corresponding to the communication number information. When the central control unit 221 recognizes that a call corresponding to the communication number information is connected, it receives the warning message stored in the memory 211. The warning message is digital audio information. The central control unit 221 converts the audio information into an analog signal to provide it to the communication port 225. Accordingly, a message about a dangerous situation or illegal intrusion can be provided to the manager terminal 307 or a communication terminal located at a specific place corresponding to the communication number information. Furthermore, the central control unit 221 operates the warning controller 223 to generate a warning sound in the place of business so as to send out a warning to an illegal intruder . While the present invention has been described with reference to the particular illustrative embodiments, it is not to be restricted by the embodiments but only by the appended claims. It is to' be appreciated that those skilled in the art can change or modify the embodiments without departing from the scope _ and spirit of the present invention.Industrial Applicability As described above, the present invention provides a network system for an office gateway connected with a card reader.
