Abstract

L'invention concerne un appareil et des méthodes permettant d'améliorer la formation osseuse. Ces méthodes et cet appareil comportent une charge mécanique (60a, 60b) appliquée sur l'épiphyse (44, 45, 62) d'un os (24, 26, 64) lié à une articulation (22). L'ampleur de la charge mécanique oscille et est appliquée périodiquement pour de courtes périodes de temps. La force mécanique appliquée permet d'induire la formation d'os trabéculaires (70) et de corticales (68). Des modes de réalisation de cet appareil ont trait à des bandes actionnées passivement et activement (28, 128, 228, 328) qui sont placées autour d'au moins une partie d'une articulation, qui engendrent une charge mécanique sur l'articulation, par exemple, sur l'épiphyse d'un os et qui sont orientés transversalement (54, 76) à l'axe longitudinal (56, 78) de l'os.
