Abstract
La luge de slalom est le troisième sport d'hiver après le ski et le surf des neiges. Une luge, qui sert à descendre des montagnes hors piste, est munie de patins larges ou d'un monoski et possède une 'garde au sol' élevée. Les virages à faible rayon sont effectués au moyen de patins recourbés transversalement et tournés autour de leur axe. Le fait que les patins soient recourbés des deux côtés facilite également les virages serrés. Cinq modes de réalisation sont proposés pour recourber les patins transversalement et pour les faire tourner en même temps autour de leur axe. Dans deux modes de réalisation de la luge on utilise des patins recourbés dans un plan horizontal, combinés à une membrane élastique qui forme un monoski. Pour diriger la luge on utilise les pédales, une commande pneumatique ou une combinaison de ceux-ci, ce qui permet d'utiliser la luge aux enfants, aux personnes âgées ou aux paraplégiques. Les patins en fibre de verre et le cadre en aluminium permettent de fabriquer une luge dont le poids ne dépasse pas sept kilos, et qui peut s'utiliser avec les remontées mécaniques existantes.
