Abstract

The invention provides a firearm having a cockable hammer (20) and locking means operable to prevent unauthorised cocking of the hammer. In one embodiment the locking means includes a lug (65) extending from a journal (53) rotatably secured to the frame of the firearm and movable between an unlocked condition in which the hammer can be cocked and a locked condition in which the lug (65) engages the hammer to prevent it from being cocked.
