Abstract

A comb (10) comprising a flat sheet of plastic the size of a business card. Small holes (13) between the base of each tooth (12) are designed to help the hair strands gather and form in place without any catching or tearing and to lessen the normal build up of residue at the base of the teeth. The comb is small enough to keep in a normal wallet, yet renders a comfortable feeling whilst combing one's hair, providing an effective result on either wet or dry hair.

Description

CREDIT CARD HAIR COMB
TECHNICAL FIELD
The invention relates to a hair care product.
SUMMARY OF THE iNVENTION
According to the invention, there is provided a hair care product characterised by a resiliently flexible card dimensional to approximate a credit card and being of uniform thickness, having a plurality of slots defined in one, longer side of the comb, at right angles, to said side to form a plurality of teeth.
Each tooth has a width dimension which is substantially greater than the thickness of the comb. The free end of each tooth may be tapered or rounded.
The end teeth have a greater width than the other teeth to strengthen, the comb and to enhance its intended shape.
Each tooth meets the remainder of the comb at a base or root of the tooth. The base may be defined by a saddle which has a narrower width than the widest part of the tooth. Thus a grooming opening is provided on each side of the saddle of each tooth. This grooming opening (hole) is major enhancement to any similar invention for which a Patent has been granted in the past and gives this comb it's uniqueness and actually improves grooming of a user's hair. This concept also promotes hygiene as the build up of usual residue from ones hair is minimized because of the comparatively wide opening at the base of each tooth*. The comb can carry advertising on its front surface and information such as a calendar on its back surface. The product may thus be useful for promotional purposes and is simple enough in design to be used as a business card.
The comb has a length dimension of approximately 8.5 centimetres, a width of approximately 5.5 centimetres and a thickness of approximately 1 millimetre to allow convenient use as a spare or emergency comb.
The teeth of the comb are at least 4 millimetres in width and the width of each slot is at least 1.5 millimetres. The width of the slot and therefore the number of teeth can vary according to the preference and requirements of the potential customer.
The shape of the teeth and the grooming hole provides strength and efficiency in use and durability of the invention.
Preferably, the comb is of a synthetic plastic material.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS
The invention is now described by way of example with reference to the accompanying diagrammatic drawings in which:
FIGURE 1 - Is a front view of the hair care product
FIGURE 2 - Is a rear view of the hair care product
FIGURE 3 - Is a cross-sectional view along the width of the comb showing the uniform thickness of its structure.
DESCRIPTION OF THE COMB IN MORE DETAIL
Referring to FIGURE 1 of the drawings, the comb is designated by the reference NUMERAL 10. The comb 10 is credit card shaped and has dimensions of approximately 8.5 centimetres long, about 5.5 centimetres wide and a uniform thickness of approximately 1 millimetre(refer FIG 3). The comb 10 has slots 11 that are equidistantiy spaced apart and extend at right angles to one of the longer sides of the comb. The slots 11 cause a row of teeth 12 to be formed. Each tooth is of equal length and tapers to a point. The tooth width is approximately 4 millimetres at its widest point, and its thickness is the same as the body of the comb. At the saddle of each tooth, a circular grooming hole 13 is provided. The hole 13 has an approximate diameter of 2.5 millimetres.
The front side can carry an advertisement 14 covering the comb's body surface area.
Referring to FIGURE 2, on the rear side of the comb a calendar 20 or similar useful tool can be provided. The first and last teeth 21 and 22 are greater in width than the other teeth to provide additional strength and to protect the row of teeth from sideways impact. In use, a user retrieves the comb from his/her wallet and brushes the row of teeth through his/her hair for the purpose of personal grooming. After use, the user places the comb back into his/her wallet for future use.
Thus it is an advantage of the invention that a comb 10 is provided which is easy to store as it does not occupy a significant amount of space. Hence, it can always be carried by a user to be available in an emergency.
It will be appreciated by persons skilled in the art that numerous variations and/or modifications may be made to the invention as shown in the specific embodiments without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention as broadly described. The present embodiments are, therefore to be considered in all respects as illustrative and not restrictive.

Claims

The scope of the invention should be determined by the appended claims as listed below.I claim as follows:
1. A hair care product - a) A comb of thin plastic material, the approximate dimensions of a credit card or business card. b) The comb has dimensions of approximately 8.5 centimetres long, about 5.5 centimetres wide and a uniform thickness of approximately 1 millimetre. c) The comb has a row of teeth on one of its longer sides spaced equidistant apart, each tooth other than the end ones being approximately 4 millimetres wide. d) At the saddle of each tooth is a circular grooming hole which whilst the comb is in use, gathers the hair and helps to form it in place.
2. The grooming hole in claim 1 adds to the strength of the teeth and prevents catching or tearing of the hair whilst combing.
3. The grooming holes in 1 promote hygiene as they lessen the normal build up of residue at the base of the teeth and makes cleaning easier.
4. The comb in claim 1 is small enough to keep in one's wallet like a credit or business card, yet large enough to render a comfortable feel whilst combing one's hair and provide an effective result.
5. The simplicity of the comb in claim 1 , yet its uniqueness in design render it a hair care product that can perform its intended task in a revolutionary new manner as well as a useful promotional tool .
