Abstract

Display mounting for a shopping trolley, where two oppositely directed springs (2) being at one end secured to the mounting and at the other end being secured to the trolley near the upper end of the forward end wall, the other end of the springs (2) being secured to the mounting near the lower end of the mounting, each spring (2) therey providing a resilient swinging axis for the mounting in relation to the trolley.

Description

Display mounting for a shopping trolley
The present invention is related to a display mounting for a shopping trolley according to the preamble of the claims.
Shopping trolleys of the above mentioned type is used in department stores. When not in use, the trolleys are telescoped with a next trolley fitted into the previous trolley and in many cases locked to each other. Such trolleys are found to be useful as an advertising medium, the advertising display thereby being secured to the trolley at different places. The front end of the trolleys considered to be especially suitable for this use, being visible for the user of the specific trolley as well as for others. A display mounting secured to the upper front end of the trolley furthermore is not hidden behind goods as the trolley is filled. Display mountings protruding substantially vertically upwardly from the upper front end of the trolley, are well known in different embodiments, all of which being adapted to bend backwardly when the trolley is telescoped into another. The display mounting thereby is laid down by the upwardly swingable end gate of the front shopping trolley. Examples of such embodiments are found in US 2 845 729, DE 2 204 297 and WO 98/11526. Known embodiments of a display mounting for a shopping trolley consist of a number of parts, securement of the mounting to the trolley is time consuming, the known mountings are easily damaged due to their rigid securement to the trolley, are among the disadvantages found in known embodiments of display mountings.
The display mounting according to the present invention provides a solution where the mentioned disadvantages are overcome and furthermore also other advantages are achieved. This is achieved with the design mounting according to the present invention as defined with the features stated in the claims.
The drawing discloses in figure 1 a front side of a mounting secured to a trolley, figure 2 discloses schematically the mounting as such and figure 3 discloses the principle for the telescopic storing of several shopping trolleys.
The display mounting 1 according to the present invention is provided, at the lowermost end with two springs 2 both being secured to the mounting 1 opposite each other and being provided with a clamp 3 at the end of the spring.
The display mounting is provided with a frame in which the information can be arranged, preferably in such a way that the information easily may be replaced.
As disclosed in figure 2, the display mounting 1 according to the invention is secured to the inside of the forward end wall 4 of the trolley 5, by stretching the springs 2 towards each other and securing the clamps 3 from the two springs 2, to selected members 4 of the forward end wall of the trolley 5. uch the springs 2 may be secured to the mounting extending towards each otner as disclosed in the drawing the clamps being secured to the trolley hidden behind the mounting, or extending away from each other and being secured to the trolley outside the mounting 1. The springs 2 may be secured to the mounting 1 at each end as disclosed in the drawing, or at any convenient place between the ends of the mounting.
The display mounting 1 is able to swing around the axis of the springs 2 such as when a trolley is telescoped into another trolley, the display mounting 1 is swung down by the upwardly swingable end gate 6 of the trolley in front. In the telescopic storage possession, the display mounting 1 is kept abutting against the forward end wall 6 due to the pressure from the springs 2.
The display mounting 1 according to the present invention is resilient as to being touched by people or subjects in the department store and therefor very easily may be pressed downwardly, to the sides, forwardly or backwardly. The spanned springs 2 will ensure that the display mounting 1 afterwards restitutes the substantially vertical position. Securing the display mounting 1 to the trolley is very simple as the clamps 3 are secured to chosen vertical rods of the forward end wall 4. When choosing rods for the clamps 3 it has to be checked that the springs 2 are sufficiently tightened.
It is convenient to secure the display mounting 1 to rods near the upper forward edge of the trolley basket. In this way the mounting 1 may swing forwardly above the horizontal upper rod as well as backwardly when laid down by the upwardly swingable end gate 6 of the next trolley.
The mounting 1 according to the present invention provides good safety for the users, as there is no fixed swinging axis as in prior art embodiments, where a user may clamp his fingers. The two springs 2 yield when users come near the mounting in any di- rection. This means that user will not be hurt by the mounting and also that the mounting will not be damaged when a user accidentally touches the mounting.
