Definitions
- the effective model refers to a Mechanism of Coordinated Movement (MCM), which is applicable to the nr ⁇ gnifying glasses used in the surgery electronics and in all areas requiring observation of small objects from a close distance.
- MCM Mechanism of Coordinated Movement
- One of the most frequently used constructions is a rim in which two channels are carved .On these channels the rotation axes of the optical system tube move. This enables the device to perform the basic movements that ensure the proper function of the optical system:
- Another commonly used construction consists of a hinge joint with two cylindrical structures to which the tubes of the optical systems are fastened.
- the change of the distance between the eyes is performed through bending up the hinge joint (just like the binoculars).
- the change of the angle between the optical axes is carried out trough shding the tubes on the cylindrical structures.
- the structure of the MCM includes an upper and a lower lid with channels in which the axis of a gear wheel moves.
- the gear wheel is constantly clutched by two symmetrically placed cogged strip-details.
- Each of these details has two guiding channels. In one of the channels goes a separate immovable axis whereas the movable axis of the gear wheel enters the other one.
- Figure 1 displays a sectional view of the device.
- Figure 2 presents a front elevation with removed upper lid and partially cut off cogged strip- detail.
- the cogged strip-details 6 are placed and the tubes of the optical system 3 are attached to them.
- the guiding channels 7 and 8 are carved in.
- the guiding channels 7 serve for changing the rotation center and they make possible the forward motion of the cogged strip-details 6 against the immovable axes 9 (which are fixed to the upper and lower lid 1 and 2).
- the axis 10 of the gear wheel 4 slides. This axis also slides on the channels 11 on the lids 1 and 2.
- the dear wheel 4 is continuously clutched by the cogged strips 6.
- On the axis 5 the object under observation is situated.
- the axis of the gear wheel 10 guarantees an identical rotation angle of the cogged strip-details 6 round the axes 9 by using the channels 8 (on which the axis of the gear wheel also moves).
- Such a method of work ensures the coinciding of the focuses of the optical systems in a point on the axis 5 (at the time of the rotation, the gear wheel rolls on the cogged strips).
- the cogged strips 6 can also perform (if it is necessary) a forward motion against the axis 9.
- the gear wheel secures the identical travel of the cogged strip-details. In such a way, the adjustment of distance between the eyes and the coinciding of the focuses can be accomplished with one hand-motion that can be performed with one hand.
