Abstract
A nickel based alloy suitable for casting into a single crystal structure and for use in making gas turbine components, such as rotating blades, is provided. A first series of alloy compositions in accordance with the present invention comprises the following range of elements, in weight percent: aluminum 3.4 to 4.0; titanium 3.0 to 4.7; tantalum 0.8 to 2.0; chromium 13.75 to 15.5; cobalt 8.0 to 8.5; niobium up to 1.0; tungsten 2.0 to 4.5; molybdenum 0.1 to 2.0; and the balance nickel. A second series of alloy compositions in accordance with the present invention comprises the following range of elements, in weight percent: aluminum 4.7 to 5.3; titanium 1.8 to 3.0; chromium 15.2 to 16.3; cobalt 6.4 to 8.75; niobium 0.75 to 4.0; and the balance nickel.
