Abstract
The present invention relates to information exchange via computer networks and mobile phone communication networks. The method includes the transmission of messages, each of which is formatted to comprise a service portion and an information portion, via the Internet and/or a mobile phone communication network to the message processing service computer. Said service determines the protocol the current message has been send in, the protocol the message can be received by the receiver, changes the protocol in order for the mesasge to be receivable by the receiver and transmits the message to the receiver that has been identified by said service according to the service portion of the message.
Description
Method of Message Processing and Transmission
The present invention relates to information exchange using computer networks and mobile phone communication systems.
The role of information exchange between different information proprietors, as well as between information proprietors and information users, has increased dramatically nowadays.
The development of the global computer network has allowed fast exchange of information between its participants. The users of electronic mail information exchange system can exchange information in delayed time mode using the system of mail boxes, while the users of the ICQ information exchange system, just like mobile phone users, can exchange information in real time mode. In any of the cases mentioned above the user willing to exchange information should have either a terminal for receiving information via a computer network or a cellular communication network terminal connected to the global computer network. Users of different communication systems cannot exchange and/or transmit information. Such exchange would put several limitations and set specific requirements to the communication systems.
Mobile phone communication networks have greatly simplified real time conversations, especially in the cases where at least one of the participants of the conversation is out of the area that has standard telephone communication networks.
Thus, known information exchange systems, such as ICQ and Email, and various mobile phone communication systems do not allow direct exchange of information between users of different systems. This disadvantage is accounted for by technical reasons and the structure of said communication systems. The problem can be partially resolved by using the Internet that unifies the ICQ and Email system users (V. Andreev, Microsoft Exchange in Action, S Petersburg, Piter, 1997, p. 214-230).
However, the Internet is unable to completely resolve the problem of simultaneously utilizing ICQ, Email and mobile phone communication systems that include at least one retransmitter each.
Known is a method of message transmission via the Internet (WO 99/65192, 1999) using one Email user's computer and another Email user's computer, as well as a mobile phone, with further message transmission to the message processing service computer.
However, said method does not allow creating a unified information exchange system to use Email, ICQ and SMS on computers and mobile phones.
One object of the present invention is providing the simultaneous use of different information exchange systems based on computer technologies and mobile phone communication systems, in order to create a unified information exchange system that uses computers and mobile phones.
To achieve this object it is suggested to use the method of message processing and transmission via the Internet and/or a
mobile phone communication network, wherein said messages, each of which is formatted to comprise the service portion and the information portion, are transmitted from at least one computer of an Email communication service user and/or from at least one computer of an ICQ communication service user and/or from one mobile phone, using at least one mobile communication retransmitter, to at least one computer of the message processing and transmission service, wherein said message processing and transmission service determines the protocol of the current message (i.e. determines the receiver's protocol and transmits the message to the receiver in the protocol required), while the software installed on each of the computers in the network allows giving nicknames to identify the address of the message receiver.
The message processing and transmission service is a combination of software and hardware that receives the sender's messages, finds the receiver and the sender, provides for automatic conversion of the data from one information exchange system to another and transmits the message to the receiver.
In the above description, the term "automatic conversion of the data from one information exchange system to another" means identification of the data exchange protocol the current message has been received with, separation of the service and information portions of the message and transmission of the message using the data exchange protocol required.
The service portion of the message is a set of data that identify the type of the data exchange protocol used, the message sender and the message receiver.
The information portion of the message is a set of data that have semantic meaning.
The term "nickname" means an individual alphanumeric identifier of a message sender/receiver. The nickname is an arbitrary set of letters and/or digits.
The following embodiments of the system can be implemented:
1. When a message that contains a nickname comes to the message processing and transmission service via Email, the Email sender's address (EmailE) is identified. After that the address EmailE is compared against the list of the registered user addresses (EmailR). If the address EmailE, which has been identified as the Email sender's address, is identical to one of the registered user addresses, then the message in hand is transmitted with a reference to said nickname regardless of the communication system used by the message receiver. If the sender could not be identified by EmailE, the nickname is compared against the list of registered user nicknames (NickR). If the message sender's nickname proves to be identical to one of the registered nicknames, the message is forwarded to the receiver. Otherwise, if no identity to a registered system user has been found, the message is excluded from information processing.
2. When a message that contains a nickname comes to the message processing and transmission service via ICQ, the sender's address ICQI is identified. After that the address
ICQI is compared against the list of the registered user addresses (ICQR). If the address ICQI, which has been identified as the ICQ message sender's address, is identical to one of the registered user addresses, then the message in hand is transmitted with a reference to said nickname regardless of the communication system used by the message receiver. If the sender could not be identified by ICQI, the nickname is compared against the list of registered user nicknames (NickR). If the message sender's nickname proves to be identical to one of the registered nicknames, the message is forwarded to the receiver. Otherwise, if no identity to a registered system user has been found, the message is excluded from information processing.
3. When a message that contains a nickname comes to the message processing and transmission service via mobile phone communication system with a retransmitter, the sender's address TelT is identified. After that the address
TelT is compared against the list of the registered user addresses (TelR). If the address TelT, which has been identified as the mobile phone message sender's address, is identical to one of the registered user addresses, then the message in hand is transmitted with a reference to said nickname regardless of the communication system used by the message receiver. If the sender could not be identified by TelT, the nickname is compared against the list of registered user nicknames (NickR). If the message
sender's nickname proves to be identical to one of the registered nicknames, the message is forwarded to the receiver. Otherwise, if no identity to a registered system user has been found, the message is excluded from information processing. The use of the system disclosed herein allows information to be transmitted via computer and mobile phone systems regardless of message exchange protocol.
Claims
1. Method of message processing and transmission that includes message transmission via the Internet, wherein at least one Email user's computer, and/or at least another communication system user's computer and/or at least one mobile phone is used, the message being transmitted to the message processing service computer, wherein the messages are formatted to comprise a service portion and an information portion, the other communication system user's computer is a computer of an ICQ communication system user, the information is transmitted using at least one mobile phone communication retransmitter, said service -determines the protocol the current message has been send in and the protocol the message can be received by the receiver, changes the protocol in order for the message to be receivable by the receiver and transmits the message to the receiver that has been identified by the message processing service according to its nickname, while the software installed on each of the computers in the network allows giving a nickname that is a short name for identifying the message receiver's address.

4. Method of p. 1 wherein more than one mobile phone is used.
5. Method of p. 1 wherein more than one mobile phone commumcation retransmitter is used.
6. Method of p. 1 wherein more than one message processing and transmission service computer is used.
