Abstract
The invention comprises a method of recording information. A label is provided on an article particulars of which article are to be recorded. A typical article is a wine bottle. The label is removable from the article or has a part removable from the article. The removable label or removable label part carry indicia sufficient to identify the article.
Description
LABEL
TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
This invention relates to a method of recording information and/or a label which has been devised particularly though not necessarily solely for use in recording information relating to wine.
BACKGROUND ART
Frequently after consuming wine persons desire to recall sufficient information about the wine to identify the wine. Frequently that information is in fact not remembered for any appreciable length of time so that efforts to obtain the same wine at a later date are frustrated. This is disadvantageous and can also lead to disappointment.
OBJECT
It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a method of recording information and/or a label which will obviate or minimise the foregoing disadvantages in a simple yet effective manner or which will at least provide the public with a useful choice.
DISCLOSURE OF THE INVENTION
Accordingly in one aspect the invention consists in a method of recording information comprising the steps of providing a label on an article particulars of which article are to be
recorded, the label being removable from the article or having a part removable from the article, the removable label or removable label part carrying indicia sufficient to identify the article.
Preferably the article comprises a bottle of wine and the removable label or removable label part carries sufficient information to satisfactorily identify the wine to which the label or label part was previously affixed.
Preferably the method further includes a receiving device able to receive such labels such as a book into which labels may be affixed.
In a further aspect the invention consists in a label having marked thereon indicia sufficient to identify an article onto which the label will be removably attached in use.
In a still further aspect the invention consists in a label having a base part and a removable part, the removable part carrying indicia sufficient to identify an article onto which the label is affixed in use in a manner such that the removable part may be removed from the article.
Preferably the removable label or removable label part carries indicia sufficient to identify a bottle of wine to which the label is affixed in use.
In a still further aspect the invention consists in an article and label, the label being formed according to any one of the preceding paragraphs and carrying information therein or on the removeable part sufficient to identify the article.
To those skilled in the art to which the invention relates, many changes in construction and widely differing embodiments and applications of the invention will suggest themselves without departing from the scope of the invention as defined in the appended claims. The disclosures and the description herein are purely illustrative and are not intended to be in any sense limiting.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
One preferred form of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing in which,
Figure 1 is a plan view of one form of label according to a preferred form of the invention,
Figure 2 is a diagrammatic view of the label in Figure 1 with a removable part partly removed, and
Figure 3 is a diagrammatic perspective view of one form of receiving device for the labels of the invention.
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
Referring to the drawings, in one preferred form of the invention a label 1 is provided which has a base part 2 which can be affixed to an article such as a bottle of wine. The base part 2 may be part of the ordinary label which is attached to the bottle of wine, or could be a separate label which is affixed to the bottle. The base part 2 carries a cover layer 3 which is affixed to the base part 2 at least around the circumference thereof. Within the cover part 3 is a tear strip 4 which may be attached by bridges or perforations in the general area 5. An end tab 6 may be completely cut from the cover part 3 so as to provide a gripping part to the tear strip 4. Onto the tear strip 4, either on the outwardly facing face, or the inwardly facing face, is provided indicia sufficient to identify the article and thus where the article is a bottle of wine, could comprise the grape type, the vintage year and the manufacturer or brand name or both. Thus where a person consumes a bottle of wine, for example, at home or at a restaurant, the label can be removed and
stored so as to provide a visual reminder of that wine should it be desired to make a repeat purchase.
It would be desirable to provide also some receiving device such as a book 10 into which the labels 1 can be attached. A suitable book 10 would have a number of pockets or slots 11 into which the labels could be affixed, although any type of receptacle could be used. The book could comprise a number of leaves, a single internal leaf 12 being shown in Figure 3.
Thus it can be seen that at least in the preferred form of the invention a method of recording information and/or a label, particularly though not necessarily solely relating to the recording of information about wine, is provided which has the advantage that the information relating to the article, such as a bottle of wine, is pre-recorded in a manner that is easily removed from the article itself. This enables the information to be retained even in circumstances where the desired information could easily have been forgotten.
