Instead of being able to make direct contact, the searching person first has to send a reaction via SMS to the advertiser. The advertiser can evaluate this reaction and has the option of asking for additional information about this person (for example: profile information, a photograph or a speech fragment) . If the advertiser is in agreement, contact between the two parties may take place.
- the service platform according to the invention provides the possibility of a universal searching and finding system to allow users of this system to come into contact with each other via mobile terminals such as cell phones, with the objective of optimally matching demand and supply. All this may be carried out in real-time, which is an overriding advantage over the known systems for matching demand and supply.
- the service platform according to the invention comprises a plurality of servers functioning on the basis of dedicated software.
- the servers are interconnected, as explained above, with a local area network based on the Internet protocol, and are coupled with the mobile network of a mobile operator and with the World Wide Web.
- the service platform according to the invention can receive from and send SMS messages to users. Users give a search command or offer something via an SMS message that may be freely interpreted.
- the service platform stores all these messages in its data base.
- the platform further comprises a searcher and comparator for carrying out search commands in the advertisement file that is part of the data base. The best matches can then be directly fed back to the searching user.
- the use of mobile cell phones provides advantages that traditional systems do not have. These may be characterized by a few key words such as speed, interactivity, location-independence, available any time and anywhere, and economic in use. It is remarkable and extraordinary that these aspects become accessible simply by using standard available equipment. If the users are using cell phones, the service platform may use the standard functionality provided by said cell phones for sending and receiving SMS text messages.
- a service platform receives commands and advertisements from users in the form of an SMS message.
- the user sends these to a special abbreviated number, for example 144, so that the mobile operator sees that this SMS is to be delivered at the service platform.
- Person A having mobile telephone number #A sends a message to the service platform #144. If the user starts the SMS with the word "ad", the service platform identifies the text that follows as advertisement (that is to say, something is being offered) .
- the number #144 is identified as being intended for the service platform and will be re-routed to service 144.

- Service 144 will first translate the SMS text into a match profile (the choice of language will be made based on the international dialling code or by the preference indicated by person A) .
- the SMS text is stored in the database and a binary representation of the profile is stored in the match database. In case the profile is completely ambiguous, a suitable message is returned via the SMS server, for example: send (#144, #A, "it was not possible to process your advertisement text") .
- the service platform system stores the advertisements in its database and stores the number of the sender (for each SMS message received the number of the sender is available) , such as to allow him to be contacted later, when there is a match.
