Abstract

The invention relates to a drinking attachment (1) having a first drinking end (3) intended for placement at the mouth when drinking, and a second end (4) opposite the first end (3) suitable for placement on top of a beverage or beer can (2), which second end (4) having on its outer circumference first clamping means (5) for fitting the attachment to the can bead (6), and which attachment (1) is symmetrical with respect to its longitudinal axis. The inner diameter of the attachment's first end substantially corresponds to the outer diameter of the beverage or beer can (2) such that the top part of the beverage or beer can (2), can be received in the attachement's first end (3).

Description

Drinking attachment suitable for placement on top of a beverage or beer can
The invention relates to a drinking attachment having a first drinking end intended for placement at the mouth when drinking, and a second end opposite the first end suitable for placement on top of a beverage or beer can, which second end having on its outer circumference first clamping means for fitting the attachment to the can bead, and which attachment is symmetrical with respect to its longitudinal axis .
Such a drinking attachment is proposed by the inventor in the Dutch patent 1003854. Also reference is made to Dutch patent application NL-A-8302980 disclosing a similar drinking attachment, and US patent US-A-4.883.192 disclosing a reusable beverage container closure designed to reseal the beverage or beer can, and making easy drinking from an opened pop-tab type metal can of soda or beer possible. Particularly when it concerns the drinking attachment as known from Dutch patent 1003854 and Dutch patent application NL-A-8302980, a problem lies in the circumstance that the known drinking attachment requires separate distribution and handling making the application of such a drinking attachment cumbersome .
The invention is concerned in remedying this problem. According to the invention, the drinking attachment is therefore characterized in that the inner diameter of the attachment's first end substantially corresponds to the outer diameter of the beverage or beer can such that the top part of the beverage or beer can, can be received in the attachment's first end. This makes it possible that distribution of the drinking attachment according to the invention is linked to the distribution of the beverage or beer can in connection with which the attachment is to be used. The drinking attachment of the invention can to that end simply be put inverted on top of such beverage or beer can taking as little place as possible during transportation. It is preferable that the attachment's first end has on its inner part second clamping means for clamping the attachment to the top of a beverage or beer can when the attachment's first end has received said top of the beverage or beer can. The unintended loss of the drinking attachment of the invention from the concerning beverage or beer can is effectively prevented this way.
One preferred embodiment to make this secure coupling of the drinking attachment to the beverage or beer can possible, is characterized in that it comprises snap-lock means to attach to the can bead when the attachment's first end has received the top of the beverage or beer can.
A second preferred embodiment for securing the drinking attachment to the beverage or beer can is characterized in that it comprises on the attachment's first end inner circumference one or more protrusions to limit the effective inner diameter of the attachment.

Fig. 1 and Fig. 2 show a first embodiment of the drinking attachment according to the invention in combination with a beer can; and
Fig. 3 and Fig. 4 show a second embodiment of the drinking attachment according to the invention in combination with a beer can.
Same reference numerals refer to the same parts of the drinking attachment according to the invention.
Referring now first to Figs. 1 and 2, the drinking attachment 1 is shown in the drinking position and the transportation position respectively on top of a beer can 2. The drinking attachment 1 has a first drinking end 3 intended for placement at the mouth when drinking, and a second opposite end 4 which is suitable for placement on top of the beer can 2. Same is shown in Figs. 3 and 4 showing the second embodiment of the drinking attachment 1 according to the invention.
In both embodiments, the second end 4 of the attachment 1 has on its outer circumference first clamping means 5 for fitting the attachment 1 to the can bead 6. The Figures show very clearly that the attachment 1 is symmetrical with respect to its longitudinal axis corresponding with the shape of the beer can 2 or beverage can to which it will be applied. The inner diameter of the attachment's first end 3 is according to the invention substantially the same or slightly larger than the outer diameter of the beverage or beer can 2 such that the top part 7 of the beverage or beer can 2 can be received in the attachment's first end 3. This is clearly shown in Figs. 2 and 4 respectively. In connection therewith, the attachment's first end 3 has on its inner part second clamping means 8, 9 for clamping the attachment 1 to the top 7 of the beverage or beer can 2 when the attachment ' s first end 3 has received said top 7 of the beverage or beer can 2.
Figs . 1 and 2 show the embodiment in which the second clamping means are shaped as snap-lock means 8 intended to attach to the can bead 6 when the attachment's first end 3 has received the top 7 of the beverage or beer can 2 as shown in Fig . 2.
Figs . 3 and 4 show the second embodiment in which the second clamping means are shaped as protrusions 9 provided on the attachment's first end 3 inner circumference in order to limit the effective inner diameter of the attachment 1.
It is clear to the expert that the foregoing disclosure and discussion of the drawings are merely illustrative of the principles of the invention without limiting same in any sense. It is apparent to the expert that numerous modifications and variations are possible to the details of the construction according to the invention, and which can be made in an obvious manner without departing from the scope of the invention. The invention is therefore limited only by the scope of the appended claims .

Claims

1. Drinking attachment having a first drinking end intended for placement at the mouth when drinking, and a second end opposite the first end suitable for placement on top of a beverage or beer can, which second end having on its outer circumference first clamping means for fitting the attachment to the can bead, and which attachment is symmetrical with respect to its longitudinal axis, characterized in that the inner diameter of the attachment's first end substantially corresponds to the outer diameter of the beverage or beer can such that the top part of the beverage or beer can, can be received in the attachment's first end.
2. Drinking attachment according to claim 1, characterized in that the attachment's first end has on its inner part second clamping means for clamping the attachment to the top of a beverage or beer can when the attachment's first end has received said top of the beverage or beer can.
3. Drinking attachment according to claim 1 or 2 , characterized in that it comprises snap-lock means to attach to the can bead when the attachment's first end has received the top of the beverage or beer can.
4. Drinking attachment according to claim 1 or 2 , characterized in that it comprises on the attachment's first end inner circumference one or more protrusions to limit the effective inner diameter of the attachment.
