Abstract

La présente invention concerne des systèmes et des procédés de diagnostic médical et d'interventions médicales assistés par des systèmes d'imagerie médicale. Les systèmes et procédés de l'invention se fondent sur une manière relativement simple et modulaire d'utiliser les images produites par les dispositifs d'imagerie médicale ordinaires pour effectuer des interventions médicales guidées par l'image. Ces systèmes et procédés permettent en outre de combiner les informations fournies par au moins deux appareils d'imagerie médicale dans le diagnostic médical et dans la chirurgie et la thérapie guidées par l'image. En particulier, ces procédés permettent de minimiser les contraintes mécaniques impliquées par le fonctionnement coopératif de plusieurs appareils de balayage médicaux. L'appareil et les procédés de l'invention font appel à des dispositifs de localisation comprenant des composants de mesure de position pouvant être attachés, qui permettent par conséquent d'effectuer des interventions médicales guidées par l'image en calculant la position d'un instrument médical par rapport à l'image produite par le dispositif d'imagerie médicale et/ou par rapport au patient. Ces dispositifs de localisation permettent d'effectuer, à n'importe quel endroit du corps, des procédures stéréotaxiques sans cadre assistées par tomographie par ordinateur, par imagerie par résonance magnétique, par image radiologique ou par d'autres dispositifs d'imagerie médicaux. Les procédés et l'appareil de l'invention permettent de positionner un deuxième dispositif d'imagerie médicale sur une zone ou un volume désiré en fonction des informations fournies par l'image produite par le premier appareil d'imagerie médicale. En outre, l'appareil et les procédés de l'invention facilitent la fusion des images dans le cas où des images d'un même plan ou d'un même volume sont produites par différents systèmes d'imagerie médicale.
