Abstract

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Netzwerk sowie ein Koppelgerät zur Verbindung zweier Segmente in einem derartigen Netzwerk, wobei das Koppelgerät (22) zu einem Telegramm, das von einem ersten Segment (15) auf ein zweites Segment (16) weiterzuleiten ist, unabhängig von einer möglicherweise vorhandenen, auf dem ersten Segment (15) gültigen Kontrollinformation eine auf dem zweiten Segment (16) gültige Kontrollinformation sendet, die an das Telegramm angepaßt ist, das auf das zweite Segment (16) gesendet wird. In einem an das zweite Segment (16) angeschlossenen Empfänger (23) ist die Kontrollinformation zur Beurteilung der Übertragungsqualität auf dem zweiten Segment (16) auswertbar. Dadurch wird eine eindeutige Lokalisierung des Fehlerentstehungsorts in einem Netzwerk bis zum gestörten Segment möglich.
