Abstract

Disclosed is a portable communication device (5, 6) capable of creating a proper call mode according to the environment in which it is being used. The portable communication device includes a receiving unit for receiving a mode conversion signal adapted to convert a calling from an external transmitter (2) installed at an anti-noise place, and a mode converting unit for detecting the current call mode state when the mode conversion signal is inputted in order to convert the call mode to an environmentally friendly mode, or to a suitable mode (vibration mode, optical mode, weak sound mode) if the current call mode is a sound mode. Thus, the invention prevents neighboUrs' displeasure as it automatically converts the call mode of any portable communication device carried into and out of the antinoise place to the environmentally friendly mode.
