Abstract

A sanitary device (10) which at least comprises a toilet (2), wherein the toilet (2) comprises a toilet part (5), which is present at the rear of the toilet in use, and a urinal part (6), which is present at the front. The toilet is vertically adjustable between a height which is suitable for use as a toilet and a height which is suitable for use as a urinal, and vice versa.

Description

Sanitary devices and a toilet.
The invention relates to sanitary devices comprising a vertically adjustable toilet. The invention also relates to a toilet.
A vertically adjustable toilet is known, for example from EP-A1-0 635 605. A seating part of said toilet is vertically adjustable for use by persons of different length. Furthermore, a urinal which is vertically adjustable is known from said European patent application.
In many cases, for example in houses, only a toilet is available, and if said toilet is also used as a urinal, whereby the user occupies a standing position in use, this frequently leads to soiling of the toilet and/or the floor. Also if the toilet were vertically adjustable to the height which is desirable for use as a urinal, this would not lead to a satisfactory solution, due to the shape of the toilet
The object of the invention is to provide a sanitary device which is suitable for use both as a toilet and as a urinal.
This objective is accomplished with the sanitary device according to the invention in that the toilet comprises a toilet part, which is present at the rear of the toilet in use, and a specific urinal part, which is present at the front.
Since the toilet comprises a specific urinal part, which can moreover be adjusted to the desired user's height, the toilet part as well as the urinal part can be optimized for the respective use.
It is noted that a combined toilet and urinal is known from WO 94/20696. The urinal part is thereby vertically disposed at the rear of the toilet, so that the toilet is still soiled when the urinal is used. Moreover, the user is seated with his back against the urinal part when using the toilet, which is found to be unsanitary.
One embodiment of the sanitary device according to the invention is characterized in that the urinal part is a front extension of the toilet part.
In this manner, the toilet comprises one receptacle, which is easy to clean.
Another embodiment of the sanitary device according to the invention is characterized in that the urinal part is separated from the toilet part by a partition.
The sanitary device thereby comprises two separate receptacles, which can each be optimized as regards their shape for their respective function. The objective according to the invention is furthermore is accomplished in that the toilet is tiltable, wherein the front can be moved downwards in use.
The toilet can be used as a urinal by tilting it and adjusting it to the desired height. The invention will be explained in more detail hereafter with reference to the drawings, wherein:
Figures 1A and IB are a plan view and a side view respectively of a first embodiment of a sanitary device according to the invention; Figures 2A and 2B are a plan view and a side view respectively of a second embodiment of a sanitary device according to the invention;
Figures 3A-3C are a plan view and side views respectively of a third embodiment of a sanitary device according to the invention;
Figure 4 shows a vertical adjustment of a sanitary device according to the invention;
Figure 5 shows another vertical adjustment.
Corresponding parts are indicated by the same numerals in the figures.
Figures 1A and IB are a plan view and a side view respectively of a sanitary device 1 according to the invention. Sanitary device 1 comprises a toilet 2 and a cistern 4, which is connected thereto via a pipe 3. Toilet 2 comprises a toilet part 5 and a urinal part 6. Toilet part 5 is provided with a U-shaped toilet seat 7, which is open at the front. Urinal part 6 is present at the front side of toilet 2, it adjoins toilet part 5. Toilet 2 is furthermore provided with a drain 8 both on the underside and on the rear side, which drains are connected to a flexible pipe (not shown). The user selects either one of the two drains. Sanitary device 1 is vertically adjustable, for example in the manner shown in Figures 4, 5, or in a manner as described in European patent application EP-A1-0635605. Preferably, the height between floor 9 and toilet seat 7 may vary between 350 mm and 900 mm. The sanitary device can be used as a regular toilet near its lowest position, whilst the urinal part 6 of sanitary device 1 can be used as a urinal by a male user near its highest position. Figures 2A and 2B show a second embodiment of a sanitary device 10 according to the invention, wherein urinal part 6 is separated from toilet part 5 by means of a partition 11. The shape of urinal part 6 of sanitary device 10 is furthermore less angular than that of urinal part 6 of sanitary device 1. Urinal part.6 of sanitary device 10 is provided at the front with an edge 12 which slopes downward to the front.
As a result of the presence of the downwardly sloping edge 12, the area which is available to the user is relatively large. Furthermore, this makes the urinal part 6 look like existing urinals as regards its shape. Urinal part 6 can be flushed with water which flows over partition 11, for example. For the rest, the supply and discharge of water takes place by means which are known per se.
Sanitary device 10 can be adjusted for height with respect to a floor 9 in the same manner as sanitary device 1.
Figures 3A-3C show a third embodiment of a sanitary device 20 according to the invention, which comprises a toilet part 21 which is known per se. Toilet part 21 can pivot about a pivot 22 in a direction indicated by arrow PI and in a direction opposite thereto. Furthermore, sanitary device 20 is vertically adjustable with respect to floor 9 in a direction indicated by arrow P2 and in a direction opposite thereto. The drain 8 can be located at the underside or at the rear side. By moving sanitary device 20 in the direction indicated by arrow P2 as well as tilting it in the direction indicated by arrow PI, toilet part 21 can be used as a urinal part without this leading to soiling of the toilet or of the floor 9. Figure 4 shows a device 30 for vertical adjustment of a toilet 2. Toilet 2 is fixed, by means of two plates 31, to a screwed spindle 32 which extends transversely to said plates 31. Plates 31 are provided with nuts 33 for that purpose. Screwed spindle 32 is connected to an electric motor 34 at one end, by means of which said screwed spindle can be rotated, as a result of which plates 31 and the toilet 2 fixed thereto can be moved with respect to floor 9 in the direction indicated by arrow P2 and in a direction opposite thereto. Screwed spindle 32 and electric motor 34 may be hidden from view by a partition 35. Drain 8 is provided with a number of pipes 36 which engage each other telescopically, which pipes are present in a bellows-shaped element 37.
Figure 5 shows an addition to or an alternative for the vertical adjustment of toilet 2, wherein toilet 2 is supported by a plate 38, which can be moved with respect to floor 9 in the direction indicated by arrow P2 and in a direction opposite thereto by means of lifting arms 40, 41 which can pivot about a pivot 39 with respect to each other. The toilet according to the invention may also be designed to have a fixed height rather than be adjustable, if desired, whereby the risk of soiling when the toilet is used as a urinal remains, however.
It is also possible to provide a drain only at the rear side or only on the underside of the toilet.
Furthermore it is possible to make the toilet 2 adjustable for height by manual operation, by means of a (gas) spring, oil pressure, electric operation, air pressure, a combination of such techniques or other techniques that may be considered for that purpose.
