Definitions

  • the invention relates to a locking device comprising minimally one housing element, an interior element fitting into the minimally one housing element, and a blocking member.
  • a locking device is generally known in practice and is used, for instance, for locking lorries, fencings and the like, wherein locking is effectuated by placing the interior element which is, for instance, coupled to a movable part of an object to be locked, into the hou- sing element which is mounted on a fixed part of the object.
  • the blocking member in the form of, for instance, a padlock can be mounted to lock the interior element into the housing element. In this manner locking of the object is effectuated.
  • the problem with the known locking device is that it can relatively easily be forced by unauthorized persons because it is easy to force the blocking member by means of a breaking iron or crow bar or to interfere with the blocking action by using concrete- reinforcement cutters. It is the objective of the inven- tion to further secure the locking device described in the preamble so that a locking device is obtained that provides relatively good protection against burglary.
  • the invention recommends that the interior element be provided with the blocking member, and that the minimally one housing element substantially encloses the interior element, wherein the housing element possesses a feature for operating the blocking member. In this manner the blocking member is protected against the most common forms of interference with the lock. It is desirable that the blocking member comprises a catch and the minimally one housing element has a feed- through aperture for the catch, which catch can be fed through the feed-through aperture to the exterior of the minimally one housing element by operating the blocking member. When the catch is in this position, the interior element is fixed with respect to the minimally one housing element, thus effectuating locking.
  • the minimally one housing element is suitable for affixing onto a mounting face of an object to be locked and the feed-through aperture for the catch is located at the side of the minimally one housing element which, when mounted, faces the object, while in order to facilitate mounting, catch-obstructing coupling pieces extend from the minimally one housing element to the mounting face.
  • the locking device is characterized in that the interior element is provided at one side with a profiled edge suitable to complement corresponding profiling provided on the minimally one housing element.
