Abstract
To be able to use water under pressure as a driving energy for various liquids in a handsprayer, an elastic bladder (2), such as a rubber bladder, connectable to a water pipe under pressure, has been disposed in a pressure vessel (1). On supplying pressurized water to the bladder, the latter will expand and in doing so will compress surrounding air (3) contained in the pressure vessel, which air will then pressurize the liquid (4) present in the vessel for spraying. When an adequate amount of pressurized water has been supplied to the bladder, the handsprayer is charged. By opening and closing an adjustable nozzle (7) connected to the handsprayer, the latter may then be used for emptying and spraying the liquid contained in the vessel.
Description
CHARGEABLE HANDSPRAYER
Technical field
The present invention relates to a chargeable hand- sprayer to be used for gardening or the like, when an un¬ complicated portable handsprayer may be required, e.g. for weed killing.
Prior art From EP-A2-0275218, for example, there is previous¬ ly known a chargeable handsprayer, which is connectable to an external pressure source such as water under pressure for the charging thereof. The charging of the handsprayer is achieved in that the so called pressure vessel thereof is provided with a one-way valve allowing liquid under pressure to be supplied to the vessel. On supplying the pressurized liquid, gas present in the vessel will be compressed and will then provide the driving energy for the liquid for later spraying of the same.
Summary of the invention
To be able to use pressurized water as a driving energy for various liquids in a handsprayer, an elastic bladder, such as a rubber bladder, connectable to a water pipe under pressure, has been disposed in a pressure vessel. On supplying pressurized water to the bladder, the latter will expand and in doing so will compress surrounding air contained in the pressure vessel, which air will pressurize the liquid present in the vessel for spraying. When an adequate amount of pressurized water has been supplied to the bladder, the handsprayer is charged. By opening and closing an adjustable nozzle connected to the handsprayer the latter may then be used for emptying and spraying of the liquid contained in the vessel.
Description of an embodiment
In the figure there is shown a schematical view of the structure of the invention. By providing, in a closed and portable container 1 for liquid, an inflatable rubber bladder 2 which is connectable to an external pressure source, such as an existing water pipe connected to a water system under pressure, by means of the liquid pressure in the water system the bladder may be filled with water and caused to expand thereby compressing an air volume 3 present in the container and surrounding the bladder, i.e. charging the sprayer, the container prior to charging having been, for example, half filled with a suitable liquid 4. The compressed air will then act on a liquid surface 5 in the container 1. On opening of a valve 6 in an adjustable spraying nozzle 7 connected to the sprayer under the liquid level 5, spraying of the liquid will be possible because of the air pressure in the container. By means of a rubber or plastic hose 8 the spraying nozzle is connected via a junction 9 to a tube 10 for the spraying liquid, the lower opening 11 of the tube being under the liquid surface near the base of the container. By means of a conventional connecting means 12, the water pipe is connectable to the rubber bladder of the container, where a cut-off valve 13, or a standard tap, may be provided for cutting off the water supply. The container is also provided with a screw cap and a handle 14.
With this kind of handsprayer no mechanical air pump is required, since the pressure in the water system is sufficient. Optionally, in the case of small devices of up two litres, it may be suitable to mount a safety -ilve/check valve 15 to reduce the air pressure in the device .
Claims
1. A chargeable handsprayer including a portable container with connections, characterized in that in the container (1) there is disposed a rubber bladder (2) connectable to an external pressure source such as a water system and that in the container (1) there is contained an air volume (3) which, on expansion of the rubber bladder (2) , is compressed and is able to act on a surface (5) of a liquid (4) present in the container.
2. A handsprayer according to claim 1, characterized in that a tube (10) with its mouth under the existing liquid surface (5) is connected by a hose (8) to an adjustable spraying nozzle (7) .
3. A handsprayer according to claim 1 or 2, charac¬ terized in that the external pressure source is connectable to the rubber bladder (2) by a connecting means (12) .
4. A handsprayer according to claim 3 , characterized in that the connecting means (12) is provided with a cut-off valve (13) .
