Enlarged model of a human body installed with a passage fit for traffic inside
Subject of the invention is such a big size model of the human body, so that the inside of which can be strolled througli with the help of walkways. Along these ways the structure of the human body, the internal organs can be demonstrated, the functioning of the organism can be rendered perceptible for those, strolling through these paths. The demand for the introduction of the structure and functionality of the human body can be satisfied in various diversified ways thanks to the rapid growth of infoπnation and assets, complying with the accuracy of the type of information - popular workshop, education in different levels, science - according to which the priority is either entertainment, play or rather precision and quickness.
Beside the classic printed materials and modern informatory tools the modelling is such a category, which has peculiar benefits and possibilities, it gives You a real, three dimension experience and beside the visual representation, it is palpable, movable, detachable, collapsible or can be manipulated in some other ways.
We can give You a characteristic and interesting example for the utilisation of the advantages of models, the rag-doll according to patent US 4.288.222, the body of which can be opened, and the organs of the chest and abdominal organs can be taken out, as well as the bone from its limb.
The subject of patent US 4.938.696 also serves the education of anatomy, but not for the youngest customers. It introduces in a detailed way the organs of the digestion, modelling its inherence with coloured, flexible models. The solution of the patent US 5.356.295 consists of models of
anatomy to which masks can be attached, the openings matching with the shape of the anatomical items. According to a further example, patent US 5.505.623 the model illustrates the part of body, or the organ with movable spareparts introducing them before, during or after treatment. The most genuine modelling is represented by body or part of body- models for medical treatment practices and surgery, but these are further apart from the field of usage of the invention.
The effect of models on a spectator or the audience can be enhanced by excluding all other irritating stimulus, like increasing the measures of models, or with the help of an arrangement which surrounds the spectator. This ambition can be justified if the aim is to provoke attention. Psychology realised that our organism decodes its outcries for help into disturbances and illnesses. The ratio of mental, social illnesses and illnesses related to the way of living ever increases, but by solving these codes sent, changing our way of living we can help ourselves. Strolling through our body-model serves the better recognition of our organism, thus getting acquainted with ourselves is not only a hobby but it is the interest of individuals and the collective as well. The aim of the founders of "DOMUS", i.e." The Museum of Mankind" (at Coruna, the capital of Galicia) was partly the biological approach for the introduction of our body, where there are big models of bodyparts and organs, beside that the museum is also operating as a play centre which introduces its subject, the human being by physical and artistical achievements. The genuine, diversified institution is just touching the theme of biological self introduction, and it has a certain disadvantage due to the huge investment cost of the accommodating building. The patent US 4.865.550 concentrates on the educational introduction of the human anatomy by a body-model which can be strolled through. The sight of the huge structure forms a lying man: from under the blanket the
head and arms of a lying figure are to be seen; in it there are models which demonstrate the shape and function of internal organs. The audience visits the paths of the model by a small railway during its travelling. ( Just like at Disneyland or at the "Scenic railway" at Budapest Citypark) Deficiency of this solution is that it is illustrating tiie human being realistically only in some parts, as the body is covered with a shape transforming veil from the outside, whereas the models of the internal organs are placed only partly in accordance with the outside shape of the body. The deficiencies are related to the usage of transportation device, as the internal organs are not at their realistic, anatomical place due to the place requirement of the tracks of the small railway irrelevant to the outside shape of the human body.
Beside all that the traveller using the small train is restricted to a passive behaviour, because he can only enjoy the sight and sound effects and so is not getting direct contact to the exhibition and on the other hand the program of the visit is predetermined.
The aim of the invention is the introduction of the human body in a way that it gives You an extraordinary feeling of adventure, a voyage of discovery with the sensational effect of space, scent, palpation and experience of strolling through the body.
For the realisation of the aim set, the subject of the invention is an enlarged model of the human body, the exterior part of which forms at least partly a human body in a lying posture, the inside of which contains models of internal organs, as well as passages, which enable the visiting of models by trafficking through on foot.
In order to increase the adventure effect of the walk inside the body it is advantageous if the model has a head, rump, two arms and two feet, and its internal organs are placed in anatomic order.
In order to ensure a realistic, changeable exterior view of the body, it is an advantageous solution to cover the body with clothing, which practically can be changed at any time.
The architectural realisation of the model can be eased by using a material with small specific mass, with a foπnable structure. Therefore it is advantageous to have the framework of the model and the passage- structure formed out of foamed plastic, e.g. polystyrol or polyurethane. In order to increase the after life effect of the sight of the model, it is advantageous that the chest and/or the abdominal part heaves according to the rhythm of breathing.
In order to experience the mycoderm surface of the internal organs it is an advantageous solution, that the material of the model's mycoderm is kept constantly wet by the issue and circulation of fluid within the model. The model of the mycoderm can be used for the introduction of further details of the body due to it's advantageous development: forming on it's wet surface the living flora and the fauna.
The possible size of the body-model is determined by the size of the passages made according to the realistic life-sized measures of the visitors, and from the above, the architectural realisation of the model is restricted to some economical and physical measures. Considering the above the revealing dimension of the model should be: 71 : 1.
In order to give You an example of the model in graphic quality we have enclosed a drawing, where we describe the track of the passage within the model by listing the parts of the body and organs visited.
On the Fig. 1. we marked the visited body-parts and organs with reference signs consecutively in increasing order. We enter the body as visitors through the left arm - the 1 palm is the waiting hall and exhibition
room ( the wrinkle of the palm, fingerprints ). We enter the body through the lower point skin part of the 2 wrist ( layers of the skin, nervous system, characteristic lesions ). We get to the 3 joint of the wrist ( the joint is moving ) and further we go beside the 4 artery and move across the blood vessels ( blood disks ), leaving here we get to the pass round of the 5 elbow-joint which is moving and than the road leads on the surface of the 6 humerus by going about the muscles. After leaving the shoulder- joint we cross the unstable soil of the 7 trapezius and get to the spine. After having examined six pieces of 8 vertebra ( infoπnation passed by the spinal cord, spinal complaints ) we get to the 9 brain ( getting to know the relevant brain-centres and the way of thinking via interactive terminals ). The optic nerve leads You to the 10 eyes ( picture projected to the retina - activity of the brain, REM phase ), whereas the olfactory nerves lead You directly to the 1 1 nose ( olfactory cells, identification of smells ). The cover of the nasal cavity, as of all kinds of mycodeπn is covered with a network of blood vessels: is a velvety textile, which is constantly moistened by an oozing pipe-system. The circulated fluid, which is a solution relevant to the scene of the body muscle contains either colouring material, or antiseptics, or the culture-fluid for the flora and fauna living on the surface. The bottom of the passage is made out of a wet and spongy material on which the walk is unsecure just as it is on a wet soil. Out of the nostrils there is a scenic view of the huge body, and of the several meters high lifting chest. On our way back we follow the track of a small scent particle into the 10 brain , and from there we follow the command to the salivary gland in the 12 mouth. We leave the oral cavity ( mycodeπn, tongue, snore, teeth and dental diseases ) in the direction of the 13 esophagus which is peristalticly moving even under our feet. We are descending inside the 13 esophagus a part of which is running near the level of the soil, from where we can see the functioning model of the 14
heart. We can walk around the heart (cardiac chambers, pulse - interactive effect of the pulse and the soul, heart malfunctions, peacemaker, heart diseases), looking up the structure of the 32 lungs forms a semi- transparent dome above our head as we stand in the chest. From the 13 esophagus through the muscle of the pylorus we reach the 15 stomach ( alimentation customs ), here we can see the pancreas, the cholecyst and the biliary canal, we also get a view of the 16 liver. Through an air-curtain we step into the intestine ( intestinal villi, development of the excrement ), where the air is humid and hot, the wall is covered with textile, in which culture fluid is circulated and therefore the planted flora can easily live here. Througli a further air curtain we get to the large 17 intestine going above the model of the small intestine ( deprival of water and salt ). We leave the body for a while and go beside the male organs. We step into the thigh, we are strolling along the 19 femur ( structure of the bone, signs of fracture, illnesses ), and so we get into the 20 knee-joint ( touch and wear of the cartilage ) which is slightly moving according to the weight of those stepping inside. Now we are walking in the 21 shin-bone, within the medulla ( production of blood cells, the DNS model ). You can see the whole osteology of the 22 foot ( mechanics of stay, and of movement ). From one 22 foot we get through a 23 small bridge ( we show only the place of it on the drawing ) to the other foot, from here we can again have a look at the huge body from the outside, the nerve ending of which we project to the sole and so from the right sole we follow the nerve system to the 10 brain. We are circulating in the 24 veins of the lower shin-bone of the right foot and after this in the 25 muscles of the thigh ( function of the muscles ). We leave the body for a while and beside die model of the 26 female genital organ we get up to the pelvis. Inside the 27 uterus we can see a two months old embryo as big as a visitor, the cervix and ovary are also well
seen. We get along the 28 bladder along the 29 ureter we arrive in the 30 kidney ( venous system, urine, filtering units ). Througli the 16 liver there is a path leading througli ( the chemical process of working up the lipoid molecule ). Through the 31 diaphragm we get into the 32 lungs ( lobe of the lungs, pulmonary vesicles, the production - consumption of the oxygen within the state of equilibrium of nature ), at the bronchical tubes with a touch of the ciliums we can erect a cough. Inside the 33 trachea under strong and humid windblows we get to the 34 larynx, where you can pluck the vocal chords and the epiglottis lets the visitor througli automatically. Here we have again a view of the oral cavity, but the road leads You separate from die incoming visitors and introduces You the directing functions of the 10 brain. Beside the acoustic meatus we reach the model of the internal 35 ear, where the incus and the matteus function according to the sound effects. In case we bang the tympanic membrane we can follow up the physical and neuratical preparation of sound and then beside the labyrinth we step out into the outer ear pavilion. Now we have again arrived to a viewpoint, from here we can leave the body by coming down a staircase built on the ear-flap and continuing under the hair. Handicapped persons have a separate choice to simply roll down on the 37 right arm ramp.
Visitors strolling through the body get constant and continuously changing stimuli and although they can touch the body only on some parts the extraordinary pedestrian surface substitute the lack of tactile sense. The one hundred meters shape of the body-model can be seen from far away, in case it lies in a big city, its face, clothing shoes, the breathing of its chest lifting can be seen from the aeroplanes flying above the town. If we dress the body-model into changeable clothing, its appearance can become updated according to the relevant season, or some other occasions.
Due to its construction out of materials with small specific mass structure the location of the model does not require extra groundwork. In case for example the model moulds the twisted sleeping "Gulliver", the cords can help to solve the stabile fixing ofthe model.
