Abstract
A device for stoves, lanterns or the like which can be connected to gas containers (8-10) by means of valves (5-7) which include a cut-off function and/or an ignition function and which also include a first coupling element (1) which can be connected to the stoves, lanterns or the like, and second coupling elements (2-4) which can be connected to the containers. The first coupling element is common and can be used with different types of containers, and the second coupling element can be connected to the first coupling element and a respective one of said containers.
Description
DEVICE FOR STOVES, LANTERNS OR THE LIKE
DESCRIPTION
TECHNICAL FIELD
The present invention relates to a device for stoves, lanterns or the like that can be connected to a gas container by means of valves that include a switch-off and/or an ignition function and which are provided with first coupling elements that can be connected to said stoves, lanterns or the like, and with second coupling elements that can be connected to the gas containers.
BACKGROUND ART
The gas containers, or gas bottles, at present used with camping stoves and lanterns are of mutually different sizes and construction. This also applies to the outlet pipe connectors/valves provided on the containers to which the stoves and the lanterns are connected. For instance, the pipe connectors/valves may have the form of screw connections, puncture connections or other types of connection.
For this reason, it is necessary for those parts of the stoves/lanterns that are connected to the containers to be constructed in a manner which will enable said parts to be fitted to the different containers. This requires the manufacture and storage of a large number of different container connections.
US-A 5,165,727 teaches a hose connection means which includes a series of connection nuts of mutually different thread diameters, so that a nut of appropriate thread diameter can be chosen to suit one of a number of different connection situations. The problem with which this publication is concerned, however, is not related to connecting different
gas containers to different apparatus. Moreover, the publica¬ tion discloses only different connection dimensions, while leaving the problem of different connection constructions unmentioned.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
An object of the present invention is to eliminate at least partially the limitations of earlier known devices of the kind defined in the introduction and to provide a device which is of simple construction and which enables the stoves/lanterns to be adapted readily to different types of containers.
This object is achieved with an inventive device having the features set forth in the characterizing clause of the following Claim 1.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
Fig. 1 is an overview of three different types of gas containers to which inventive devices can be connected;
Fig. 2 is an enlarged sectional view of part of a detail shown in Fig. 1; and
Fig. 3 is an enlarged sectional view of part of a detail shown in Fig. 1.
DESCRIPTION OF A PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
Shown in Figs. 1 and 2 is a valve 1. The valve l can be connected in a known manner at la to a camping stove or a camping lantern, neither of which is shown. The valve 1 includes a conventional switch-off function at lb and, although not shown, will normally also include an ignition function. The valve is provided with a female part lc in the bottom portion of the valve.
Three mutually different sleeves 2, 3 and 4 can be connected to the female portion lc of the valve l. To this end, each sleeve 2, 3 and 4 is provided with a male part 11 having a sealing ring 12 and an upper profiled surface 13 which fits into a complementary bottom profiled surface Id on the valve. The male part 11 also includes a peripheral shoulder 14. After having connected one of the sleeves 2, 3 and 4 to the valve 1, as shown at 5, 6 and 7 in Fig. 1 with the profiled surfaces Id and 13 engaging one another and the sealing ring 12 sealing between the male and female parts 11 and lc, the bottom end of the female part lc is deformed so as to project in over the shoulder 14 on the male part 11. The valve 1 and the sleeve 2, 3 and 4 are therewith connected permanently and sealingly together.
The bottom ends of the sleeves 2-4 include male-type connec¬ tions or couplings 18, 19 and 20 which fit conventional connections 15, 16 and 17 on different types of gas contain¬ ers 8, 9 and 10. The connections 15-17 are normally pipe connectors provided with threads of different diameters and which in some instances include regions that can be pierced or punctured.
When a stove or a lantern has been connected to one of the containers 8-10 with the aid of the valve 1 and with a sleeve 2-4 that is intended for that particular container connected to the valve 1, the stove/lantern is ready for use. The stove/lantern can be disconnected from the valve 1 and/or the container 8, 9 or 10 can be disconnected from the sleeve 2, 3 or 4 attached to the valve 1 when so desired.
Although the present invention has been described and illustrated with reference to an exemplifying embodiment thereof, it will be understood that the invention is not restricted to this embodiment but solely by the scope of the following Claims.
Claims
1. A device for stoves, lanterns or the like that can be connected to gas containers (8-10) by means of valves (5-7) which include a switch-off function and/or an ignition function and which are provided with a first coupling element (1) that can be connected to the stove, lanterns or the like, and with a second coupling element (2-4) that can be connect¬ ed to the containers, characterized in that said second coupling element (2-4) is a coupling element which is included in a set of second coupling elements, wherein each of said second coupling elements (2-4) includes a first coupling connection (13) whose construction is similar for all said second coupling elements (2-4) for connection to said first coupling element (1), and a second coupling connection (18-20) for connection to a gas container (8-10), wherein said second coupling connections have mutually different designs with respect to both dimension and con¬ struction of the coupling elements (2-4) forming said set of coupling elements, said designs being adapted to different types of gas containers (8-10).
