Abstract

The invention concerns an earthquake-proof storage facility for radioactive material, consisting of egg-shaped concrete containers lined with lead. The containers are placed in a pit filled with sand and broken-rock ballast, without any rigid means of attachment, in such a way that about one-third to one-quarter of the container is below the surface of the ballast.

Description

Erdbebensichere Aufbewahrungsanlage für radioaktives Material  Earthquake-proof storage facility for radioactive material
BESCHREIBUNG DESCRIPTION
Die State of the art is the disposal, final storage of radioactive material by burying or storage in mines. The
The present invention is that the containers rest freely in the landscape, embedded in a pit filled with gravel. The egg shape offers optimal protection. The storage is clear, easily accessible and unaffected by the strongest earthquakes that can only cause a slight change in the storage container in the bulkhead.
Höhe von 17 Metern In outline and plan, the containers have the shape of an ellipse, approximately 21 meters long and 13 meters wide or height and 25 meters long and 17 meters wide or height
(Skizze 1). Der Querschnitt wird durch Kreise gebildet (Skizze 2).  (Sketch 1). The cross section is formed by circles (sketch 2).
The container "floats" in a pit about 35 or 45 meters deep with a diameter of about 60 or 80 meters. This pit is filled with different coarse layers of sand and gravel. The container dips about 4 meters below the ballast surface (sketch 3a and b).
