Abstract
The invention relates to the field of processing metals by pressure. According to the process, before extrusion of the blank (40) through the die (13), a bushing is placed in the gap between the cylindrical surfaces of a protrusion (41) and a section (16) of the die (13), said bushing (42) having an internal diameter of 0.03-0.05 mm smaller than that of the protrusion (41) and having an external diameter 0.03-0.05 mm larger than that of the section (16) and being made of a material whose elastic modulus is lower than that of the material of the blank and whose yield limit is approximately equal to that of the material of the blank at the temperature at the start of extrusion. The method is intended for making articles from brittle materials.
