Definitions

  • the invention relates to a V-shaped overflow which may be adjusted in a continuous manner.
  • a flow of the liquids - which may periodically be a small volume - in order to distribute the liquid to flow, e.g. to a number of outlet pipes.
  • An example of such a case is an infiltration plant for effluent from scattered dwellings and holiday homes, where distribution boxes are to be used in plants comprising more than one sub-soil disposal drain.
  • the volume of liquid flowing through the plant is periodically very low and it is, thus, a requirement that the transfer means should be provided with V-shaped overflows with the apex facing downwards.
  • distribution boxes may be arranged with outlets to many sub-soil disposal drains or channels. Due to movement of the ground, influencing the distribution box, e.g in case of frost heaving or settling, it is desirable to use adjustable transfer means.
  • adjustable transfer means are previously known and were, inter alia designed with sockets with grooves which may be displaced up and down on a fitting, or with a "cam” with grooves to several chambers, which are in principle movable. It is however, common to the known concepts that they are in practice burdened with faulty operation and the desired adjustment was not achieved.
  • an object of the present invention to provide an overflow of the V-shaped kind, with continuous adjustment being possible from ground level, and with precise adjustment being possible in a simple manner. It is, furthermore, an object to provide an overflow with readily arranged ventilation.
  • valve according to the invention may in a simple manner be manufactured, e. g. from plastic.
  • the invention shall now be disclosed in more detail with reference to the drawing which shows a possible embodiment of the invention.
  • the drawing shows a perspective view of an overflow which is designed according to the invention.
  • the invention is suitably carried out with a tightly connected fitting 4 which is provided with a horizontally extending brace 5 at its top edge and is placed inside the cylindrical top portion 1 of a bend 2. Both in the cylindrical portion 1 of the bend, and in the internal fitting a 4 V-shaped hole is cut, which is placed equally in the respective cylindrical members 1 and 4.
  • These V-shaped holes or openings which are designated 3, and 6, respectively, in the figure provide the overflow proper.
  • This overflow has its largest opening and lowermost position when openings 3 and 6 are coincident.
  • By turning fitting 4 said two openings may now be mutually displaced, and by being turned to the right hand side or the left hand side they will cause the V-shaped overflow edge to be raised or lowered, depending on the starting position and how much the fitting is turned. Precise adjustment of the overflow height is, thus, possible.
  • brace 5 is provided in a direction of 90° relative to the position of the V-shaped hole, it is possible to check visibly in a simple manner whether liquid flows into the sub-soil disposal drain as intended. If it should be necessary to adjust the overflow, this may most readily be done from ground level by introducing a fork-shaped arm or the like onto the brace and then turning fitting 4 into the desired position. Due to the fact that adjustment occurs by a turning or twisting operation, continuous microadjustment of the V- shaped overflow may be carried out very readily, and with great force. This provides obvious advantages as compared to previously known arrangements requiring a socket to be pulled up or pushed down.
  • the sub-soil disposal drain may readily be flushed with fitting 4 placed in the bend 1, 2, or fitting 4 may, if desired, be lifted out after being turned off the bend 2.
