Abstract

The present invention provides methods for producing animal cells resistant to viral infection. In particular, the present invention provides animal cells transformed with the pseudorabies virus gene encoding glycoprotein gp50 which are resistant to infection by herpes viruses, specifically, herpes simplex virus and pseudorabies virus.
