Abstract

Le radar adaptatif (10) permet de réduire sensiblement les échos parasites de fond, en particulier les échos parasites relativement constants dans le temps, tels que le retour de mer, et spécialement à de faibles angles d'effleurement du radar. L'appareil de radar (10) comprend une antenne de transmission (12) ayant des éléments de transmission (26, 28) orientés horizontalement et verticalement et une commande de phase relative entre les deux, et une antenne de réception (14) ayant également des éléments de réception (30, 32) orientés horizontalement et verticalement avec aussi une détection de phase relative et déphasage entre les deux. Un générateur de signaux radar (16) pouvant être commandé envoie des signaux à l'antenne de transmission (12) et un processeur de signaux (18) pouvant être commandé traite les signaux de retour provenant de l'antenne de réception (14). Des moyens (20) sont prévus pour déterminer, à partir des signaux test de retour, une polarisation nulle moyenne de fond pour plusieurs cellules azimuthales et de portée du radar ainsi que pour fournir des signaux de commande de polarisation nulle Ho, Vo et oo, au générateur de signaux (16) et au processeur de signaux de retour (18) pour faire fonctionner le radar à un état de polarisation qui est le même que la polarisation nulle moyenne des échos parasites. Un procédé correspondant réduit les échos parasites de fond, spécialement le retour de mer relativement constant dans le temps, dans un radar à faible angle d'effleurement.
