Abstract

Air is sucked through a conduit (4) connected to a double walled cap (1) of which the inner wall is perforated. The air inlet cross-section is adjustable by means of an inflatable hose (7) connected to a pear (8). The inflation of the hose and the suction flow rate are adjusted so that the air pressure under the cap is lower by 0.5-60 cm of water than the atmospheric pressure and the air flow rate is comprised between 1 and 4 m3/min. A fraction of sucked air passes on an electric heating resistance (6).

Description

PROCESS FOR TREATING SCALP

The subject of the invention is a method of treating the scalp to stimulate hair growth, combat baldness or prepare the hair for hair treatment. It also relates to an apparatus for implementing said method.

The method according to the invention consists in subjecting the scalp, or at least the part of the scalp to be treated, to a pressure lower than 0.5 to 60, preferably 0.5 to 16 cm of water at atmospheric pressure.

It is admitted that the favorable effect of this treatment is due to a dilation of the capillaries of the scalp, dilation caused by depression and which locally increases the blood flow.

This effect is further reinforced when the vacuum is produced by suction of the ambient air by leaving it with a section passage such that it flows at a flow rate of 1 to A m / min. measured at a pressure of about 0.5 to 60 cm of water below ambient atmospheric pressure, especially when the hair is previously moistened, in particular when it has been shampooed and rinsed.

The treatment can be applied continuously or intermittently.

As indicated, the method makes it possible to advantageously prepare the hair for a subsequent hair treatment. By hair treatment is meant a chemical or physical treatment of the hair, such as coloring or bleaching, styling, permanent or brushing for example. It has, in fact, been observed that when the scalp is subjected to such a preliminary treatment, the hair has better aptitude for coloring or waving, for example. The aesthetic appearance of the hair, in particular, is significantly improved.

The single figure of the appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the apparatus for implementing the method according to the invention.

This device comprises a double-walled dome 1, the interior wall of which is perforated. This dome is dimensioned so as to surround the head of the person in treatment, leaving a free space between the head and the dome. The latter descends to below the eyes but without covering the orifices of the nose. The space between the two walls of the dome 1 is separated by a circular partition 2 into two compartments, namely an upper compartment 3 which communicates with a flexible duct 4, the diameter of which is preferably at least 45 mm, itself connected to an unrepresented suction blower, and a lower compartment 5 containing an annular electric heating resis¬ 6 connected to a power supply not shown, through an electric current adjustment means, also not shown.

One could also apply the treatment by using only the suction duct 4, without a dome 1, by bringing the inlet opening of the duct 4 back and forth on the part to be treated of the scalp, in the manner of a vacuum. Claims
