Definitions

  • the invention relates to a composite profile for accommodating an element such as an additional pane or the i > like, said profile comprising at least two profile parts forming a seam in the outer surface of the profile.
  • a profile be a mounting frame for an additional pane but also, for example, roll-down shutter guide or a cable gutter of metal or a synthetic resin.
  • the composite profile may be employed for considerations of mounting. For example, one part can be mounted after which 10 the second part is arranged in place, by which the mounting screws or the like are covered. Additional windows and roll-down shutters are used inter alia for protection against vandalism and burglary.
  • the known composite profiles have the disadvantage of a clearly visible seam in the outer surface 15 of the profile. It has been found that such a seam invites certain persons to try to break the profile open by inserting a screwdriver or a knife into the seam.
  • the present invention has for its object to provide a composite profile of the kind set foth in the preamble, 20 which does not exhibit said disadvantage.
  • the invention provides a composite profile in which the seam is located at least substantially at the corner of the profile.
  • a corner makes optically the impression of a line or of a separation between two 25 differently coloured surfaces. Since in accordance with the invention the seam is located near such a line or separation, the seam is not conspicuous even at close examination.
  • the seam is located at the edge of a facet surface of the 30 profile, it is, in fact, quite invisible.
  • Fig. 1 is a partial sectional view of an additional window with a composite profile in accordance with the 35 invention.
  • Fig. 2 is a sectional view of the profile of Fig. 1.
  • Fig. 3 is ' a sectional view like Fig. 1 of an additional window with a composite profile in a different embodiment.
  • Fig. 4 is a sectional view partially corresponding with Fig. 3 to illustrate mounting of the profile parts.
  • Fig. 5 is a sectional view of a roll-down shutter guide.
  • Fig. 6a to 6e show five different embodiments of a profile in accordance with the invention near the seam between the profile parts.
  • the profile 1 of Figs. 1 and 2 comprises two profile parts 2 and 3.
  • the profile parts 2 and 3 are relatively fixed in the mounted state by means of a lug 6 on the profile part 3 and a lug 7 on the profile part 2.
  • a pane 4 Between the profile parts 2, 3 is arranged a pane 4, which is clamped tight with the aid of rubber strips 5.
  • the rubber strips 5 grip by tongues 9 into grooves 8 of the profile parts 2, 3.
  • the profile parts 2, 3 form a seam 10 in the outer surface of the profile 1. According to the invention said seam 10 is locate .at a corner of the profile.
  • the profile parts 2, 3 are located in contact with one another by the inclined surfaces 11 on a profile part 2 and 12 on the profile part 2 and 12 on the profile part 3.
  • first profile part 3 is screwed on or to a window frame or the like.
  • the screws penetrate from whithin the web of the profile 3.
  • the pane 4 is put in place, after which the profile 1 is closed by applying the profile part 2, which is also provided with a strip 5.
  • the profile part 2 is slipped on the lug 6 in the position shown in Fig. 2.
  • Fig. 3 and 4 show an additional window profile 15, in which the closing profile part 1 ⁇ is inserted from aside rather than from the top side.
  • the profile part 17 is provided with a lug 23 and the profile part 16 with a lug 22, said two lugs co-operating with one another.
  • the profile parts 16 and 17 are provided with a rubber strip 19.
  • the strips 19 are clamped tight to a lug 20 on the profile parts 16, 17.
  • the strip 19 has two tongues 27 on the top side and a gutter-shaped tongue 21 on the bottom side. Owing to this design of the strip 19 panes 18 of different thicknesses 28 can be mounted in one and the same profile.
  • the gutter-shaped tongue 21 can be filled out f, 5with resilient material, for example, a rubber string.
  • the clamping force of the rubber strips 19 on the pane 18 is increased.
  • the lug 22 of the profile part -16 is provided on its underside with an elongate screw 24.
  • Fig. 3 shows that 10with the aid of this elongate screw 24 the profile part 16 can be fixed relatively to the profile part 17 by laterally inserting a guard pin 25.
  • a guard screw or a rubber bead may be employed.
  • a rubber bead is not arranged from aside, but it is pressed into the recess 1524 when turning the profile part 16 in the direction of the arrow 26.
  • the rubber bead operates like a spring, which compels the lugs 22, 23 into relative engagement.
  • the profile parts 16 and 17 are located side by side by inclined head surfaces 31 and 32.
  • a seam 30 is 20formed in the outer surface of the profile 15, said seam being located at a corner of the profile in accordance with the invention.
  • the roll—down shutter guide profile 35 is also a composite profile.
  • the profile 35 mainly comprises 25interconnected profile parts 36 and 37.
  • the profile part 36 1 is mounted by means of a screw 43 on a window frame 34.
  • the head of the screw 43 is located in this embodiment not directly on the web of the profile part 36, but it presses the same against the window frame 34 by means of a spring 44.
  • the seam 50 is located at a corner of the profile.
  • the profile part 37 is guarded with respect to the profile part 36 with the aid of a number of screw bolts 49. After the screw bolts 49 are inserted, the profile part 35 is finished with guide profiles 39, which are provided with cushions 40.
  • the guide profiles 39 snap into the profile 35. Since separate profiles are used. for the guide profiles 39, the profile 35 can be readily rendered suitable for several thicknesses of roll-down shutters 38.
  • the guide profiles 39 cannot be removed from the profile 35 without being damaged.
  • the embodiment of the roll-down shutter profile 35 shown provides a satisfactory protection against burglary.
  • the fastening screws 43, 49 are not visible, even when the shutters are open.
  • the profile 35 is constructed so that it can also accommodate a roll-down shutter 38 provided with a storm anquer 42. If the profile part 36 need not be mounted in the explosion-resistant manner shown, space is left in the profile compartment 61 for accommodating electric cables and - the like.
  • the seam formed by the profile parts can be formed not only as is shown in the embodiments of Figs. 1 to 5 at a square corner of the profile but also near additional profile or facet surfaces of the profile.
  • the seams 56, 58 and 59 of the profiles 51, 53 and 54 respectively shown in Figs. 6a, 6c and 6d are located at places such that they are invisible.
  • curved surfaces may be used with profiles 52 and 55 of Figs. 6b and 6e. Dependent on the radii of curvature of these curved surfaces the seams 57, 60 are reasonably to satisfactorily unconspicuous.
  • the invention is essentially meant to increase the resistance of the composite profiles against vandalism and burglary, the invention nay also be solely applied for aesthetic reasons.
