' DESIGN FOR A SERVICE BADGE OR BUTTON.
Application filed December 14, 1918.
To all fr0/0m t may concern Be it known that I, HAYwooD H. HILLYER, a citizen of the United States, residing at St. Louis, Missouri, have invented a new, original, and ornamental Design for a Serviceadge or Button, of which the following is a specification, reference being made to the accompanying drawing, forming a part thereof.
In the accompanying drawing, Figure l is a front elevation of the service badge or button showing my new design.
Fig. 2 is an edge view thereof.
As shown my new design comprises a ring or circular band and a strip of relatively narrow width extending diametrically across the ring or band and havingits ends in union therewith. On the ring or band above the center 0'1": the transverse strip the letter A is represented, and the letter A is also represented on the ring or band opposite each end of the strip. Gn the ring or band below the transverse strip are the characters 17-18, indicating the year 1917 in which year the United States entered the war against Germany, and the year in which Germany submitted to the terms of t-he nations at war against her.
The transverse strip is colored blue at one end and red at the opposite end, with a portion colored white between the blue and red end portions of the strip. These colors rep resent the colors in the flag of the United States.
As shown in Fig. 2, a fastener is in connestion with the strip whereby the badge or button may be supported on the coat of the wearer.

The ornamental design for a service badge or button as shown and described.
