minim :Illllllllllllllllll JOHN L. DILGER, OF THOMASTON, CONNECTICUT.
DESIGN FOR A WATCH AND CLOCK DIAL.
Specification for Design.
Patented Dec, 15, 1914;.
Application filed. August 13, 1914. Serial No. 856,692. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JOHN LAWR NCE DILGER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Thomaston, in the county of Litchfield and State of Connecticut, have invented a new, original, and ornamental Design for latch and Clock Dials; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertain to make and use the same.
Myinvention consists of a new, original and ornamental design for clocks and watches, and I have illustrated my design for clocks and watch dials in the accompanying drawings which are made a part of this application and in which it will be observed that I have divided the dial or clock or watch face by concentric circles and each space thus separated has a separate and distinct or individual coloring, preferably the colors of the United States flag, one of the spaces containing a plurality of stars, preferably of the number of thirteen.
for the original States of the United States. It will also be observed that I have used the letters in the two words United States to serve the place of numbers usually employed to indicate the twelve hours. I prefer the arrangement shown in the accompanying drawings wherein it will be observed that the first letter of the word United is disposed at the point usually occupied by the numeral 9 on a clock or watch face, thus enabling the word United to be easily read. In like manner I prefer to begin writingthe word- States so it may be readily read from left to right, thus occupying the lower part of the clock or watch face, thereby presenting the two words United States directly to the eye.
I prefer the central portion of my clock or watch dial to be red and the space immediately surrounding the same to be white, while the third space is blue, having therein the arrangement of the stars above referred to. I also prefer the letters U T S andA shall be red in color, thus marking the quarter hours of the dial. This arrangement however, may be varied.
I claim:
he ornamental design for a watch or clock dial substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
JOHN L. DILGER. Witnesses:
S. W. CocKRELL, W. T. Frrz GERALD.
